OMG, I remember my first time when I heard that damn music. Creepy, scaring me almost to the bone... I think listening to that awful melody is enough to imagine the skewed forest where sick animals and mutated furbolgs live, the ground is unfriendly to plants and the river smells like rotten corpses. But... well... Moonglade, Ashenvale and Winterspring are near.

This song makes me think of Cursed Beings and Demons inside a forsest that is scarred from a war that happened a long time ago. and suprisingly thats what the story behind it is. it needs some menicale creeepy scary laugh in it though

Scary laughs would make it cheesy, I think it'd lose a lot of the creepiness.

As Kinz said, it's even creepier without the in-game sound effects, laughter would ruin it.

i always hated this zone on a PvP server. The neutral quests from the Emerald Sanctuary.. no guards so you would often get ganked handing in quests :( Cant say i miss being on a PvP realm lol

Everytime I hear this I think of this time I glitched out (in Duskwood i think...), falling through black space in the map for almost a minute, then dying. I rezzed in Felwood. I was in my lvl 20's and had just used my hearthstone only 10 min before hand. That was the worst walk back to civilization ever.

Reminds me once when I was questing there, I began to feel sorry for the wolves there. I never seen any other Hunters tame any ofve them... probably because they looked so hideous. I went ahead and tamed one. He was my companion til I was about lvl 68, when I switched to one of the green raptors in blades edge.

@animeshows568 To put it short and simple, it was once part of probably Ashenvale. Burning legion came there, and the Skul of Gul'Dan was used to corrupt the land. As quoted from Wowwiki:

Then the Burning Legion befouled the land using The Skull of Gul'dan. Any trees and creatures that escaped the outright destruction became forever cursed in the demons' rampage.

So yeah... THAAANKS burning legion, killed off a beautiful place askin to ashenvale... Which is one of my favorite zones too...
