@TaishaJason I can sympathize. Eigo noto is more like a stupid picture book than a textbook. Yet, I feel I have more freedom to teach what I want at shogakko than at JHS. I'm more of a tape recorder there. At least at shogakko I can go off on a tangent every now and then.
@NikkeinJapan yeah - it's that remaining 20% in my estimation that makes it so much fun - when I was given free reign to design a lesson or implement a plan - sure I failed some over the course of 5 years, but more often than not I succeeded and the kids had a great time.
@stevelau1933 I think kansai ben is the second most widely used dialect of Japanese. Chau? Thank god they're not speaking in Aizu ben. We'd never understand them. haha.
I miss the kids at elementary school and their genki energy, but I don't miss what I had to teach 80% of the time at shogakko
