  • i just bought wd my passport elite and i love it, the only thing is i dont know how long can i leave it connected to the pc and is there any danger leaving it connected for long periods of time???

  • i dont think it's portable if it has to have a separate power source other than usb

  • I've personally gotten a WD My Book 2 Essential Edition 500GB.

    Such a long name.

But it's only 100$ and it works great.

  • What did Ponzi decide?

  • you have a wife?

  • yes, he does. His wife's name is Ponzi.

  • That's a bit obvious

  • yes, need any more details, visit my channel

  • lol... I thought this is chris pirillo's channel... Sorry...

  • there is a difference between portable and external hard drives.

portable means that is powered by usb.

external (generally) means that is powered by AC.

  • this might sound really stupid but can you download pc games onto the portalble hard drives for example like World of warcraft?? write me back. =D

  • Your question is, indeed, stupid.

  • thats fine, but i still need an answer.

  • ya some games can

  • I assume that you're talking about being able to move around with the drive and run the game on different machines.

Some games can do that, some will refuse to work without a proper installation.

It's better to ask the game developer or those who have tried. Ask on World of Warcraft forums, they'll be able to tell you if WoW works on portable drives even if you move around and change machines. I think WoW is quite forgiving when it comes to this.

  • shame on you chris, i sent a response and you didnt accept it. Thought you liked vid responses... obv not.

  • I like my 500GB external (not a pocket-sized portable) HDD which I got for under $100 (I think). Its home is on a shelf perched above my desk and I use it to back up my laptop every few days. It's unplugged when I'm away even though I use a really good surge protector.

I made the mistake of not backing up a computer before. An external HDD is MUCH more convenient than burning backup disks. Everything is backed up and organized in one device.

  • On amazon, WD of 320 for 129 us dollars

  • My passport also doesn't need any external power either. All ran off usb. It's about 3x5 and 1/2 inch thick.

  • Yea, I like my Western Digital Passport. It's light, compact, works great, and looks sexy haha.

  • would you rather get 2 250 or 1 500

  • $300! nah, WD do em for $199 i think. Right will defo do a vid response tonight to plug the WD my passport range.

  • Bigger is better. You can get a 500 GB external HD for about $300-$400

  • watch gag660 its funny

  • If you are going to buy something that big, i suggest getting a divx player/case combo. You can buy hard-drives separatly and watch videos directly on your tv. It's pretty much the same casing as the reg. hard-drive case.

It would be nice to see a shootout of the smaller usb cases

  • 320GB, Not so. You can get 500GB ones now! Maybe i'll do a video response.

  • I get the feeling that she cheats on you all the time.

  • My 320 GB from Seagate crapped out on me, so i got my 1 TB from WD, and it's friggin awesome, considering they were the same price bought 3 months apart..

  • i have a 1tb external hdd for 169.99 at futureshope....comstar is the brand..

  • I'm using a 250 GB western digital mybook. Got it for 120 at bestbuy. Very happy with it

  • mac book air sucks

    $1000 and no memory haha

    looser

  • $1,799 U.S. dollars and thats the entry configuration.

But when your Chris Pirillo, im sure your nor worrying about that.

  • which is better buying a portable hard drive or buying a case and a hard drive

  • probably buy a portable hard drive, cheaper and easier.

  • if u dont know dont answer

  • Wait don't you have an Ipod classic laying around or some other hard drive mp3 player? That the way I carry large files when I have to. At home I have two external hard drive for my data. One 300 Gb for my PC and one 700Gb for my PS3 media center. I use s LaCie 700gb USB for my ps3 and a Comstar NDAS drive that was a pain to install but is faster than regular USB 2.0.

  • Chris get the WD 500GB portable HD, i am pretty sure it does not require external power. If purchasing a brand i would recomend WD, but at the end of the day, honestly it does not make a difference,Same car differnt colour. Chris also remind her about the possibilitys of storing data on an online server, remember the video about the 1TB upload thing.

  • only one drive is a real drive a seagate wd sucks had 3 die in less that a year.

  • I recommend a Cooler Master enclosure and a SuperTalent SSD.

Prices for SSDs are coming down and they are ridiculously fast.

  • Hmmm...

  • how much did that cost
