  • Ps2 original is amazing , got mine at 14 now I'm 20 and I still play it in 2012 :) yeah !!

  • I prefer the Slim because it has less problems reading games, and I have a slim.

  • I do not speak inglihs

  • Getting this one next month for my birthday. I can't wait.

  • I think I'm glad I didn't buy one at Good Will back when I was gone for the Summer I went to Amazon.com to buy a working PS2 (I do have one but Twas broken) and if it works I'll get a few good games (maybe do a review on Digimon Rumble Arena 2 for the PS2 if I ever get a copy of that game).

  • I still have SCPH-30005 model and DVD movies never works. I bought PS2 in December 2001, yeah very early.

  • My Fatty PS2 SCPH 50001 is still alive and kicking!!! I love my old school PS2

  • I remember when I was first amaze when I first saw the PS2... I wonder why I don't feel the same with the PS3.

  • @ARRL92 hmmm interesting.

  • one of the oldest consoles know but still one of the greatest machines bilt and know it is well cheap to buy so anyone and everyone can own one these dayz, if anyone that has not got this console buy one you will not be dissapointed there are a lot of great games out for it but stick with the fat one in my opion as the slimline one sucks

  • @MrMark079 Why don't you like the slim PS2?

  • i dont know why i dont like slim version, i just think that the fat ps2 is more better looking than it,

  • @MrMark079 Oh.

  • @MrMark079 I agree with you on that.

  • man i miss playingthe ps2 . ps2 games were the shit and is way better than todays games in my opinion thumbs up if you agree

  • I have slim version. I like it better.

  • I have this but i have the better version.

  • I used to have a fat model ps2 but it broke back in 2008! :(

  • dreamcast and ps2 beast consoles always remember it

  • yes mine to

    i love ps2 recentely i got an ps2 and 2 ps2 original games+2 ps1 games

  • Eu ainda tenho esse videogame e funciona ate hoje eu jogo! ^^ Ele ta funcionando direito!

USA = I still have this game and it works until I play today! ^ ^ Is he working right! And I live in Brazil!

  • Ps2 fat suck. Slim version is better.

  • who the hell can sell it..??!!

  • PS2 PWNS B)

  • U MAN ESO ES UN DINOSAURIO ACETE CONLONIZAR

  • does it work

  • Fat FTW !

  • Elle est grosse comme console, je préfère la PS2 slim bonne videos

  • does this work

  • Fatty!

  • You cannot save ps1 games to ps2 memory cards.

  • this is my newest game system!

  • @Meclesky07 i have the original PS2 bought it used 1 and 1/2 years ago in like new condition The 39001 model second generation it still works well

  • I never bought a playstation 2. A friend of mine found one in a garbage bin and gave it to me because it looked broken (the little cover with the PS logo that covers the dvd drive was missing). I cleaned it up and bought the component cable, a gamepad and a memory card and it booted right up. That was like 5 years ago and I still use it today.

  • The Wii is fully compatible with Gamecube Games! only things the Wii doesn't support are the LAN adapter (Removed on later Gamecube systems) and the Gameboy Player.

  • if you look under the reset and above the eject button the iR receiver is right there indicated by the iR logo

  • @joshbot360 The iR was only built into the later fat models the early fat models required the iR receiver plugged into the controller port. All the slim models also had the iR receiver built in though.

  • @MN12BIRD The FAT models w/o the FireWIre port have the built in IR receiver AFAIK.

  • I have one of these, still runs great :)

  • sony rocks

  • PS2 slim is better...cuz i have that....

  • @devilkiller04 actually ps2 slims have a smaller fan and fail/ overheat much faster than the phat models

  • I have too PS2, but slim ;).

  • i got mine at a goodwill for $5.25. the plate on front of the disk drive was broken off, but it works 100%. ps1 (smooth and fast loading on), ps2 (silver and blue) and plays movies. best $5 spent ever xD granted, its technically a little more than that because i got one at launch and it stopped reading discs (many years of gaming will do that) so that's why i picked up this "new" one xD

  • have you played the GTA games?

  • the newer-model ps3 plays ps1 games and if your gonna say "no it doesn't"

stick it in your ps3 and watch

  • it should be called from ''Sony Playstation 2 (PS2)'' ''Yeah I picked one up on the cheap but don't know if it works!'' to ''Ultra Plolystation 2 (UP2)'' ''Yeah I picked one up with free games on the cheap and it works! I Tested it and it works fine!'' lol its a joke please dont block me for doing this.

  • i like (♥) the ps2 slim!!

  • Fantastic overview!

  • i didnt know you could add a hard drive to the ps2!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 8 mb is so small xbox360 you wouldnt be able to save more then like 2 games

  • @joeldude76 no because on ps3 the file size is only like 588kb so i believe it should save more

  • you got it at the good will if its was if you can test it at the store its a good idea some people donate there garbage

  • MY BIG PS2 HAVE 200 GIGABYTES XDDDD

  • you could have bought one of those slim ones for $99.99.

  • PlayStation 2 seguira activa hasta el 2012 xd

de todos modos siempre sera la preferida ..

la video consola mas vendida del mundo ...

  • Si es verdad ademas hay juegos con graficos mu wenos como el black

  • Nice video but did the Playstation 2 works ?..or was it broken

  • Twas broken.

  • Aww Too bad it doesn't work!

  • @MN12BIRD At least you have a PS2 for parts

  • PS2 sucks as an DVD player because double-layer DVDs glitch on it

  • PS2 forever will be the best for me , I wont be getting a PS3 anytime soon because i prefer these. Getting a new one early next year (slim version) . This console should carry on forever IMO.

  • i got myne for 5.00 it would not not read the disks all it needed was a good lens cleaning and worked great

  • btw my fat ps2 has a built in infar red ,

  • i prefer the fat model,

  • @paulspydar

Me too, so i can hide my weed in the xpansion bay.

  • @Tinhh I dont have weed long enough to hide it! LOL even if I did I wouldnt tell everyone where I hide it on youtube...:-)

  • @paulspydar i prefer slim

  • Yeah the PS2 was the cheapest DVD player when it came out, with a bonus built in games machine :-) Btw, I know its got a RISC CPU in comparison to the Xbox, but for 294mhz (299 slim) it sure comes close to the 733mhz Intel unit in the Xbox!

  • hey whats the difference by the big playstation 2 that ur showing us at this video than the other mini playstation 2?

  • The smaller ones (newer) have built in Ethernet (network) jack so you don't need the seperate network adapter, also the infrared (iR) port is built in so you don't need to plug in the iR receiver into a controller port to use the Sony DVD remote. It will just work on its own. Witch is nice. The bigger original models can hold an internal Hard Drive while the newer small ones can't. Otherwise basically the same.

  • so they are all the same just the bigger one can hold internal hard drive? but everything else is the same right?

and 1 more thing the smaller playstation 2 can run every playstation 2 game or the bigger one runs more ps 2 games?

sorry i didnt have that playstation 2 that im asking those questions all i did is play pc but im thinking to buy one ps 2 the mini one.

  • No they both play all the same games.

  • @MN12BIRD the truth is that the ps2 cant do 720p due to power but it has the power to do 540p 60FPS which is 1080i 30fps. only gt4, tourist trophy and i believe ff11 can do 1080i on ps2 but if you have a ps3 with ps2 bc then all games can do 1080i

  • that's all correct, but the last fat model (2003) does have the IR port, and also has a quiet fan, as well as being the first to be made in China rather than Japan!

  • @MN12BIRD smaller ones can use external drive though

  • It's actually a DV port next to the USB. FireWire looks like a normal USB port with a triangular side.

  • DV or i.link is just Sony being Sony and trying to make everything "Sony" exclusive they took Firewire and called it i.link or DV and went yay. LOL seriously it's just Firewire it only looks different because it's a 4 pin (not 6 pin powered) Firewire. You can buy 4 to 6 pin Firewire cables.

  • Kinda different........

  • No. Not really. It's a 4-pin "IEEE 1394a" (Firewire 400) port with a differnet name on it. The only difference between the bigger 6-pin port is they have 2 extra wires for power over firewire but the smaller 4-pin has no power over firewire so the device plugged into it would always have to have its own power plugged in seperately. Otherwise 4pin and 6pin are the same transfer signals. I-link and DV are just Sony branding and nothing more. Like I said Sony being Sony.

  • i hav fat ps2....

    da problem is..

it cannot play sum of new games...

its show "please insert ps2 disk" or just black screen after ps2 logos..

    LOL!!

    wat is happening??

does sumone noes??n how to solve it??

    help2...

    =.="

  • i had it too and it was there no ps2 enymore

  • why??

    =.="

  • only the ps2 slim model can read dvd9 games(dual-layer)?

  • No they all do because I used to play GT4 on the old model and GT4 is dual layer.

  • Playstation 2 will forever be my favorite console :)

  • @DarkWartex same

  • it is very true that at one time sony had there shit together but as of more recent times sony cant even follow there on blueprint to success by not making the ps3 backwards compatible and very pricey until just recently the offers a little price drop way to late to capture the market any time soon ,sony has posted 2 years in a rows losses first time in it rich history i own and love it but only for a very few games and thats it ,it collects more dust then anything at least till GOW3 comes out

  • I picked up a mint PS2 Fatty with no controllers or memory cards but I already had 1 controller but the ps2 was FREE! and it works

  • love playstation

  • its been 9years... yup...lol

  • ive had mine forever only one part of it came off (thank my sister for that) its nothing important though i got it working and i still play it today (ive had it for a good 9 years)

  • value village? man i gotta get a new ps2 im gonna hit up today wish me lck

  • you said Atari 2800....you ment Atari 2600..their is no 2800 lol

  • Uhm, yes there is an Atari 2800. It is only in Japan, though.

  • Yeah there is a 2800 (Basically the Japanese version of a 2600) but I did mean to say 2600 and messed up!

  • can you use a ps1 controller to play ps2 games??

  • depends. the early model PS controllers didn't have analog sticks so it wouldn't work well, if at all with most PS2 games. however, the later PS controller models that included duelshock and analog sticks would work just as well as a PS2 controller with PS2 games.

  • yes you can if i ever play my ps2 i would use my ps1 controller

  • Oh, i didn't know that

  • true but nowadays its not a very good one, it can't play any other format other than DVD, like VCD'S etc..

  • did you WATCH THE VIDEO? geezz that'll answer your question...

  • The wii can play game cube games.

  • 2:31

    u totally said atari 2800!

  • is a sony ps2 a 4 player system?

  • With a special adapter yes but stock no only 2 controller ports.

  • My PS1 memory card was 1MB, but then again it was third party.

  • the ps1 mem card was 250kb

  • and they still make the consoles

  • Technically this is my 3rd PS2 and I actually bought a PS3 when it came out and sold it 3 months later because I got bored of it.

  • dude it was 14 dollars

  • @kayyfunk

dude respect the classics because there still good

  • No one can deny that the PS2 will go down as the most successful system of all time. It is actually kind of odd. I mean I still have my Slimline model hooked up along with my PS3(non backwards compatible model) and my 360.

  • PS1 memory cards are 128k

  • DIE SONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hurry up and get a ps3 so we can own online

  • good

  • nice

  • i got the the slimline PS2

  • The xbox 360 is backwards compatability..All you need is the HDD..But the Playstation 2 was epic..nothing more to say about it..I got the ps1 straight away and it was amazing

  • the ps2 played all the ps1 games, 360 only plays a select few.

  • You are right but they are improving.. ps3 dosent do that sadly:(

  • The initial 20Gb and 60Gb models DO, actually.

  • yeh maybe 1 update a year

  • No, the 20Gb and 60Gb models play ALL PS2 games out of the box.

  • The initial models maybe but no one wants them anymore..what about the new ones?

  • I love the PS2. I still have that model. Lots of great memories with it.

  • Its funny that 10 years from now the PS3 will be reviewed by you as something you picked up for cheap! haha.

  • You REALLY, SERIOUSLY want the fat PS2 if you have ANY INTENTION WHAT SO EVER of using the HDD capabilities and compatibilities of the PS2 software.

The PS2s USB ports are only 1.1, thus loading ANY data from those is actually SLOWER than the DVD drive, thus seriously negative ANY logic or reason to use the slim-line model and the USB ports on it for a HDD.

If you want a PS2 to use with a HDD, get the fat model.

You can, however, get an EARLIER slim-model and get it modded w/ an internal HDD.

  • THIS FAT PS2 model actually DOES, INDEED have the IR sensor BUILT IN.

The NEWER fat PS2s had updated features that the newer slim models have, sans the built-in network adapter.

The NEWER fat PS2s have the built-in IR, sensor, updated DVD software, and are 30% more quiet.

I believe you have the NEWER fat PS2 due to yours only having the USB ports, and NOT the fire-wire port.

If your PS2 model # is SCHP-50001, then you have the latest one.

Also, HDD from PS2 USB sucks.

    FAT for sure for HDD.

  • REALLY?! I HAD no idea that it actually DOES, INDEED have the IR sensor BUILT IN!!!

  • Are you the douche-bag who thumbed down my intellectual comments?

It's okay, not everybody passes the third grade.

  • I'm 12 and entering 7th grade in 2 days. So just go sit in your corner and cry because I am not wasting my time on you.

  • You know little buddy, for a held-back third-grader you're surprisingly well-spoken and literate. You're well on your way to fourth-grade.

Also, here's a tid-bit of wisdom that you would be intelligent to utilize when you go into grades of higher maturity such as 7th and 8th; don't ACT like and immature IDIOT and BRAT about people's intelligent, coherent, and informative comments.

    Got it?!

Most third-graders usually don't get it, so don't feel bad if you don't initially.

    Have a good day.

  • You know what? Fuck you. You are obviously a self-centered ass that wants to make other people feel inferior just so he can make himself feel that much better. So, I'm not going to waste any more time replying to your idiot comments.

    Good fucking day to you.

  • You're a hypocrite and a brat; you're the one who mocked my intellectual and respectably informative comments, and acted like an idiotic three-year old as you couldn't see and appreciate the knowledge you could have gained from my posts.

Secondly, to tell a guy "fuck you" is suggestive of your sexual orientation, and is of potential evidence of lacking in maturity and potentially intelligence, at least in social situations.

Is swearing why you got held back?

  • Suggestive of my sexual orientation? First of all, I am not gay. Second of all, why do you care?!

You are obviously taking this too far for me to even care anymore, so just drop it, already.

  • Comment removed

  • good vid jake i hope it works, i got a fat ps2 aswell and it works like a dream, its almost like new condition too! i play all my stuff on it and everything works flawlessly, even the games that i got 2nd hand that are scratched too shit work flawlessly so ya i guess the laser is still good in it lol!, ya and also to all the people out there that sub to other peoples videos to bash them?...........get a life! i mean really??? and the your mom comment from that other guy earlier, you must be 12?

  • Grrr, I despise the "as is" tag, how would that justify a purchase on a non-working hardware?

  • sweet, mine has a firewire!

  • im sorry dude, but ive gotten ps2 slims with controllers and games for less than that. but of coarse those are broken..

  • I first got my PS2 in 2003, it a great system with lots of classics.

the only problem was the original models broke after 2 years, my PS2 broke down twice before I bought the newer slimline model, it works perfectly.

  • my fat ps2 never broke and it even dropped 3ft and it still worked fine

  • then youre very lucky

not only my PS2 broke, but every friend of mine who had a PS2, had it broken.

it was always the disc read error problem

  • you mustve thrown them around like baseballs, youre supposed to put games in them and play the video games fool.

  • what??? it wasnt thrown around, and yes I put games in them and played them.

no need to call me a fool.....

  • considering none of my other systems have ever broken down..... id say I treat my consoles pretty damn well

  • BTW the Sega Genesis Model 1 had an add-on called the "Power Base Converter" (I have one) and when you plugged it in like the 32x you could play master system games. Also I would recommend finding an old model 1 PS2 than getting a slim for those looking to get one because there is no cooling fan in the slim and mine got overheated often.

  • thats a great price and a great console.

the most common problem is a disk read error but it can be fixed quite easy by taking off the lid of the cd drive and adjust the liog at the back one notch at a time and testing it each time until it reads disks again, great vid.

  • I scored 2 "as is" PS2 Model 1 systems for $9.00 US each at a local Salvation Army Thrift store here in Missouri. Happy to say after I cleaned them up they both worked too!

  • What are the chances, I just bought a fat model PS2 off eBay and when I log on here I notice that you did a video on one too, hope it works!

  • MN12BIRD has a PS2 holy shit i better look outside my window i think hell has frozen over

  • Technically this is my 3rd PS2... but who's counting?

  • i love the ps2! i have so many good games for it as well as so many good ps1 games to play on it.

  • your a tard dude!? and im sure everyone here agrees lol

  • Yeah what an ass. He subs to my vids and then disses them. Some peoples kids eh?

  • holy shit, the day mn12bird picks up a ps2!

  • Its a pity that the ps3 sucks so much ass

I'm going to buy a ps2 slim as soon as I get some time. got a list of 33 games to get for it.

  • i heard god of war 2 was HD

  • My fat model ps2 also had built in infrared port

  • This is my favorite console of all time. I remember back in nov 18th 2001 picking up a gamecube on release. I picked up rogue squadron 2 and later luigi's mansion. I finally realized the cube was not providing the games I needed. I picked up a new 30001R PS2 in jan 2002 and still play it almost every day. Awesome system and GTA III was one of my 1st games and I was blown away by it. I can repair almost any of these systems so if it don't work I will be glad to help.

  • so did it work?

  • I actually didn't know taht it could do HD.

    Wow.

  • GT4 can do 1080i

  • the ps2 might end up being recognised as the greatest console of all time in the grand scheme of things. the consistant quality of games, the design, the pricing and the support and features will be more obvious to people in further years to come.

i love my ps2, ive had one really since 2002, i remember being AMAZED by GTA III on my friends PS2, never been so impressed by ANY game before or since. I also have a HDD inside my PS2 with games on there too ;-)

  • the ps2 rocked

  • Is there a way to hook up an external harddrive with the PS2 slim, and make it play games of that? I have the PAL version.

  • With the right mods I'm sure you can but not on a stock system.

  • There's a program called USBeXtreme that lets you play games off an external USB hard drive.

  • I'm not sure how much longevity modern consoles will have seeing as they all have moving parts. They're all pretty complicated compared to older consoles and that doesn't help. Look how unreliable the Xbox 360 is.

  • dude ps2 sucks so much that i gave it up and what did i give it up for

    ? tHE NINTENDO WII
