@PhysicalsimForever Uh--yeah!!! Mozart was a major influence on most of Beethovens early work.Beethoven knew most of Mozarts works by heart. He copied several entire scores by hand, and studied all the great later concertos and symphonies and quartets.

Try listening to ALL 5 of Beethoven's Piano Concerti - played by Paul Lewis - all are Bravo! performaces - they were all recorded in London in June 2010
I wish Perahia and garland woulda covered a song together. but idk if he can play the jazz arpeggios as well as he can in classical songs. they're a lot more energitic and soulful..
I am playing this concerto right now :) this is not yet Beethoven, one of his first concertos. Hudge influence from mozart, same chors same harmony :) not as much romantic and tragic or pathetic like Beethoven is :)
Interestingly soft and tender interpretation, however a bit exaggerated for Beethoven in my opinion as it still lacks the decisive tone characteristic to the composer. it sounds a bit Mozart-ish
@portoxali its probably because this is one of beethoven's earlier works; not as tragic/sad/mad as his older ones, when he realized he was losing his hearing.
@avrilrules96 Agree, the influence from Mozart is crystal clear in his early concertos, however in my opinion the interpreter could still (and in my taste had better to) take into consideration that it is still Beethoven's work with his yet unfolded stringent character embodied in the piece.
Rudolf Serkin rendered the Beethoven works as well as anyone playing today - many of the virtuosos tend to ignore the tempo as written and instead opt to show you how "good" they are by showing off. Murray does a respectable job with this opus but parts of the 1st movement cadenza are played so fast they're unrecognizable.
thx for posting, the Beethoven #2 another rare treat and with Perahia too! I believe is also the first one written but was published after the "concerto #1"
excellent

This is proof that all races are capable in the same way - it's only a matter of education.

This concerto is relatively easy but the cadenza is really complicated. Bravo to Murray Perahia for handling it so well.

True, but you obviously know that I am referring to recordings made decades ago and still the standard.
