It is a variation of a shaker hymn (simple gifts) - which by definition is a set of lyrics that have no actual 'written tune', and have no definite chorus. It takes on many of the transformations of Simple Gifts also. In this it flips the the humbleness of the shaker hymn lyrics. So while they do credit may get those styles, it isn't such a simple song - that is what makes it so amazing.
