I'm shocked to discover that "Hud" wasn't even nominated for Best Picture. And would have loved to see "Charade" nominated as well. Classic films both.
Why not Best Supporting Actor Bobby Darin. Melvyn Douglas got later another (deserved) Oscar, but Darin's mental ill performance in 'Captain Newman,MD' -saw it again here on YT - was really, really outstanding, especially his remembrance scene in the hospital bed. Respect!
Best Picture: "Charade"; Best Director: Stanley Donen ("Charade"): Best Screenplay: Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank, Jr. ("Hud"); Best Actor: Paul Newman ("Hud"); Best Actress: Patricia Neal ("Hud"); Best Supporting Actor: Walter Matthau ("Charade"); and Best Supporting Actress: Edith Evans ("Tom Jones").
Patricia Neal in Hud?! There's another supporting performance in the wrong category.

Best Pic Charade
Best Actor Cary Grant, Charade
Best Actress, Patricia Neal, Hud
Best Director, Stanley Donen, Charade
Best Supp Actrss Lilia Skala, Lillies
Best Supp Actor, Melvyn Douglas Hud
Cary Grant was impeccable in all his movies. he had so much elan it did not seem like he was even acting; He was!
They rarely give the award to romantic comedy, Charade was in a class by itself, as was it stars Cary Grant, and the sublime Audrey Hepburn.
