This is a great movie but an acquired taste for me (I didn't like it instantly, in fact I thought it was corny). But this movie has great songs, amazing animation and wonderful characters. Minus the fireflies. That was a bit tacky for me.

It's funny how Mama Odie is trying to tell Tiana that she needs to slow down and look a little bit closer to home for her future first and yet it took the Shadowman with his illusion to get her to realize it. And it wasn't the typical Disney-will-show-you-in-the-en­d way either, the Shadowman told her right their that her daddy was a hard working man just for her and only later did she realize that he wasn't working for the restaurant but for his family...go figure.

Tiana made the choice to try to make her dreams come true the fast way after all the work she's done for the money. Unfortunatly it back fired on her and so they made their choices so they need to fix their mistakes.

I honestly missed Disney animated movies. They always have a certain charm that makes all little girls want to wear puffy dresses, tiaras and sing all the songs and remember them by heart. When this movie came out, I was so freakin' happy and was one of the first few that watched it and felt my childhood comeback. Too bad Disney doesn't believe so anymore :|

This song I think is the epitomy of why this movie wasn't successful - it's geared too much toward adults. As a young college student, I can completely understand the realistic themes and messages of hard work to realize your dreams, finding out what you need over what you want and so on, but kids won't get stuff like that nor does it even really apply to them. I think this caught people off-guard and that's why it wasn't liked too much.

They were taught in fairytales hundreds of years ago to kids of the same age as are watching the movies now; if these principles aren't taught at an early age, when should they be taught? And what better way to teach them than in a movie which the kids will probably see several times over and get a better chance to understand the lesson?

It isn't until kids are teens that they finally become concrete and begin to become their own people with their own views and so on....I mean, we could certainly hope kids learn and take from these kinds of lessons early on, but that sounds like expecting far too much.
