That part where the back up singer picks him up was staged, Michael was inspired by James brown's live shows, where he was getting a cape put on him when a song ended but took the cape off and kept going to show how powerful the song was. Here, the backup-singer checks Michael is ok then drys his forehead and picks him up, this was done to emphasis the intensity of the performance. this is good proof that Michael was a genius entertainer.
