Hi i live near and i was wondering if you have any species of freshwater shrimp in stock at the minuite thanks

We've got bamboo shrimp, a couple of grades of red crystal, temasek, orange, amano and red cherry I think. We should be getting more in on friday.

Often, smaller pet stores are staffed by people who care a bit more than in larger places. If you find a good one with a great choice of species and sound advice, stick with it.

he didnt take the water test and he just guessed that there was ammonia in the tank and the woman who done the water test said the water was fine and i was going to get six neon tetras but he said they would just die because of the ammonia so he said you only ut two fish in a week so i bought 2 black phantoms but i will get three more if that is your advice and just before i went to my local pet store and i got four zebra danios is that ok ?? or should i have not done tht

I am confused by that. Did you have a water test or not? Was ther 4 danios then 2 tetra went in on the same day? Thats the problem when you get your fish from different places and then worry wether the advice is right or not. Without testing the water you couldn't tell wether the water was safe to put fish into.

i went to pets at home today and got 2 black phantoms and i couldnt choose from many because of the ammonia and he said i could only get hardy fish. what type of hardy fish could i get?

The guy was obviously a tool. If there is ammonia in the tank the last thing you want to do is add any fish as they will produce ammonia and add to the problem. He should have advised that you wait until the ammonia comes down before you add any more fish.

Ammonia readings show that the filter is not working properly and needs time to develop (try adding filter starter bacteria)

Any small tetra species really need to be in a shoal of at least 5. They'll not be happy as a pair. Patience is key.

No worries. Best to set up slow and steady to avoid the pitfalls that many people make - that said its not too hard to set up a tank well. If you need a hand with anything, just let me know or phone the shop.

i am going to be getting my albino bristlenose pleco and my shrimp from here :)

I just checked out your tank on your channel. If it is yet to be stocked I would wait a few weeks before putting in any shrimps as the first few weeks you will get ammonia spikes which shrimps really don't like. Also the bristlenose do best after the third or fourth stocking when a bit of muck has built up and algae has started to grow. Best start with a few free swimming tetras/ rasboras / livebearers etc. as an initial stock. Any questions just mail me or contact the shop :) Thanks for comment
