@hermygagala Check this out: I saw Deep Purple w/Tommy Bolin and Nazareth was the back-up band @ a Ft. Worth, Tx concert back in Feb. 1976 when Deep Purple were on their Come Taste the Band tour and Nazareth were on their Hair of the Dog tour. How awesome was that. Deep Purple is my favorite band and it was my first concert @ age 15. I rushed out and bought Hair of the Dog, but already had Come Taste the Band, of course.
Exposition / We Can Work--Deep Purple: This is classical rock that transformed the music, far ahead of its time; it is a cover that does justice, tribute, and then gives the original tune the glory of rich vocal textures, rich orchestral layers of lovely instruments -- Can it get any better, such an homage to ultimate song writing? Rad musicians from conservatory to cosmic concert hall revolution; just hear & feel the upheaval of heart and mind into awareness, mindfulness, care: desire supreme
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT VERSION (THOUGH SOMEWHAT SLOWER) OF THE BEATLES CLASSIC THE PHOTO OF ROD LOOKS LIKE A YOUNG ELVIS (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ALBUM COVER)
@jennins1990 I agree that Deep Purple had more originallity than Led Zeppelin. I like Zep but they're not one of my faves. I don't know why Zep gets more credit than Nazareth or Purple do. My absolute favorite band of all time is Nazareth but I love Purple and know they are a very talented band, they deserve more sucess as does Nazareth Obviously. Nazareth have got to be the most underrated band of all time. (MY OPINION)
@hermygagala honestly, i have never listened to Zazareth. I will check them out though. Thanks for seeing eye to eye with me though. I mean, Zeppelin's improvisation live wasn't too fascinating to me because i never cared for most of jimmy page's solos, but some of them are outstanding. When he tried to improvise solos live, they generally sounded pretty bad. Some songs live just dragged along and should've been shortened. Blackmore composed great solos through improvisation and on record.
@jennins1990 I love all Nazareth, but if you are having trouble finding songs you like then ask me to recommend some that are appropriate to the genres you prefer they have pretty much every genre ever made other than rap. I personally think Naz is the most versatile band of all time (Opinion) Deep Purple also has a ton of variety. Keep in mind Nazareth albums Rampant, Razamanaz, Loud N Proud were all produced by Roger Glover of Deep Purple.I will recommend albums to you later when I have time.
@Eldryzif Yeah I think Purple deserves more credit than Sabbath or Zeppelin do for bringing Metal into play. Nazareth also deserves a lot of Credit for revolutionizing the metal scene: Witchdoctor Woman, Shapes of things, Sold My Soul, Miss Missery, Changing Times, Beggars Day, No Mean City, Somebody to Roll, Hard Living, Spinning Top. MY fave band is Nazareth, I love Purple as well though.
hey, I was there when I was 16-17 years old...man what a long trippy ride it was w/ jimi janis jim morrison...deep purple were Iron Maiden's heros and they sound similar...I really like some of Iron Maiden but I absolutely loved DP's exceptional extraordinary cut or two above most....man was I stoned driving Highway 101 w/a couple Portland dudes I picked up around LA and proceeded to the San Diego area to stay ripped for days on end...those truly were the days in my lifelong love affair w/R&R...
Is there anyone who can post the song 'Shield' of Deep Purple?? It used to be on YouTube and it is an amazing song, but in some miraculous way it disappeared...
Jon Lord-greatest organist in rock history, closely followed by Gregg Rolie of Santana :)

They didn't ruin a song from one of the greatest bands, they made a brilliant version of it! Love it.

@Eldryzif and Deep Purple had more originality than Led Zeppelin and had enough musicians to play the necessary instruments live
