I've read that the nickle plating can cause it to split easier. I notice my 10mm nickle plated will split after just a few reloads. I get more mileage out of regular brass cases.

As far as the brass splitting, mic the chamber and see if it is perfect round.
also also get the factory spec for the chamber and see if it matches up.
I have had brass split before but NEVER new brass no matter what brand.

I have 5 holsters for my 26 & 27 and this is my favorite. Break that holster in and it wears like butter.
