  • Fucking phenomenal movie!

  • I loved the movie. I have seen other sci-fict. movies and those some a very very cheesey. This one is more reallyalistic and thats why it is so awesome and good.

  • there is only something in the movie that is not correct

the 1/6 gravity doesnt appear in the movie...yea outside the base, it lookslike somehow, a slower enviroment

  • 8=====D

  • I'M SAM FUCKIN' BELL = Greatest Quote Ever.

  • Moon was one of the best sci-fi movies of recent years. Like the best science fiction it explores the human implications of plausible scientific developments. Sam Rockwell's performance was amazing. The plot was intriguing but not confusing. The music was excellent, and the special effects were at the service of the story.

  • It's one of those smaller movies you find and really love :-)

  • i love the emotions on gurdy :D

  • Moon was definitely one of the best sci-fi movies of all time :3

The acting was great, the set designs and directing were phenomenal...

The music was definitely one of the best parts.

  • this overall was the most stupid movie i ever watched the plot was stupid and made no sense the dialouge was dumb and random at one point sam calls sam a " radioactive tampon" i wouldnt recomend this to anyone in their right minds

  • @TheHOTSHOT95

You're fucking stupid. Oh, 1995, I get it now. This movie didn't have enough explosions for your teenage mind. I am sorry, but you can watch Transformers: Derp of the Moon for that.

  • @peaceplease I was born in '95 too and idiots like TheHOTSHOT95 really piss me off. So just don't condemn all of us teenagers out there because some of us actually have good taste.

  • @peaceplease, hey don't knock 1995; cool people like me were born then XD

But yeah...he can...he can go out on the lunar surface without any protective clothing.

  • @peaceplease lol, i was born in 95 and i thought moon was a-fucking-mazing

  • @peaceplease i think you could be a little jealous because you were born in 1905 ae gramps? '95 FTW

  • @peaceplease Please don't stereotype teenagers. I was born in 1995, and I really enjoyed this film. Michael Bay can go to hell.

  • @TheHOTSHOT95 the plot was complicated but brilliant.

  • @TheHOTSHOT95 It was definitely better by a longshot than that Michael Bay CGI puke called Transformers 3.

  • I thought it was a great movie.

And then I started to wonder how a Lunar Industries could pick a Sam for this job?

It must have cost billions and they pick this guy? Really? No I mean,... Really?

Like,... why did the machines in the Matrix not just pick cows? The matrix would have been green fields of grass... done. But no, they pick humans .

Same with Sam. Sam has a very nice wife and a 1 year old kid? Really? What manager at Lunar Industries came up with that idea?

    Nice movie, go see it.

  • @bespired This isn't the only base so there are probably more than just him. They were probably strapped for volunteers, plus the wife and kids gave him motivation and kept him going for three years alone in space.

  • @highlife231 the first sam dies in the thing he crashed near the beginning and the rescue team found him there dead. The other sam (the one who wasn't dieing) escapes to earth and reveals the whole clone thing. The new sam wakes up and Gerty is reset so they can't figure out what happened up there

  • 0:16 no pun intended! :)

  • i love your light accent... and your cute. :)

  • i thought it was good but didnt get to see the last 5 minutes of it because itunes is gay could someone help me out and fill me in ON WHAT HAPPENED IIN THOSE LAST 5 MINUTES?!?!?!?!?

  • Too bad this movie was not that big. It's seems like a lot of the popular movies today have poor storylines and are only good by their special effects. This movie is the exact opposite and it was amazing

  • Did you know the director is David Bowie's son? ... its trtrue ... but really I had to do a review of this as part of my film class. It was really great and the greed on Lunar Industry's is way out there. Im not going to talk to much about it because I don't wanna spoill it but but I found some tid bits to note ill tell you in a personal message intrested.

  • The story also looks into corporate ethics... the future line of workers will be clones. :)

  • This movie was awesome, one of my favorites for sure. I bought it on DVD a few months back. And my family likes it too! Excellent scifi, it really captured that sense of isolation. And yeah, the music is great - I find myself listening to it everyday, no joke..

  • great review! i saw it yesterday and i was very impressed!

  • I watched this and thought it wasn't a very good movie, is it just me?

  • @conman2317 Yes it is just you-this film is phenominal in every way possible

  • I was really surprised by the retro props and sets that they used in the movie. But when you reach the end, it all makes sense. That's all I'm going to say.

    Excellent movie.

  • just saw this lastnight. all i can say is CLASSIC SCIFI! i was amazed on how well this film came out. i rate it 5 out of 5

  • Yes, the Director Jones is the son of David Bowie!! David Bowies legal name is David Jones.. His son has taken his legal name for the obvious reasons (not his mothers name).

  • I saw the movie just because we had been too late for our reservations. Thank god there was so much traffic on the road so that we happened to watch this awesome movie!

  • by the way, the Director Duncan Jones is David Bowie's son. (he took his mother's name because he didn't want people to see his movies becuase he is David's son)

  • I started crying when the sick Sam went back into the truck, and when Gerty got rebooted, what Gerty said tore me to shreds.

  • I LOVED THIS FUCKING MOVIE!!!!!!!

  • i dont really get why sam#2 put sam#1 back at the crash site to die. was it so that the next clone could find him and have the same fate as sam#2 or something? and why did the new clone at the end of the movie saw sam#1 but then just closed back the lid? why is he not shocked? im a bit confused here

  • @VantagismFTW the team sent to find him found him at the crash site and killed him and he setup for the new clone to contact earth on live video feed and he went to earth in person so he could get back to tell everyone the truth and to see his daughter...

  • @temporary1121 the team that found him ...found him dead they didnt kill him.....whats more when he gets back to earth he will have only 3 years to live cause thats how the clones are designed. the sick sam didnt die of internal injuries he died because he had expired, when the team finds the new sam they will not now the middle sam escaped because they found the first sam dead and gerty was rebooted after being erased , the jam towers were destroyed so new sam will contact earth and spill beans

  • @cholulasaucehot thats what i said they might not have killed the crash site sam but their job was to make sure he was dead

  • @VantagismFTW read my comment to vantagismftw...hope it helps u

  • Amazing movie, one of my favorites of the year.

  • Awesome movie i totaly agree Sam Rockwell was brilliant :D 10/10 from me

  • Picked it up used on DVD last week 'cause it was cheap (hadn't even heard of it). It's now in my top 20 favourite movies list. Excuse me while I go back to trying to play the theme music on the piano.

  • @F33bs You're just another "Transformers", "Terminator 2" dick who can't thoroughly enjoy a movie unless something's constantly shooting. If all you expect from a movie is blood and violence and that sort of low-brow entertainment than a movie that is mentally intriguing, such as Moon, will bore and frustrate you. On cloning, if you to know more on the subject then you'd be more appreciative. Oh and you're a dick to the people who haven't seen the movie.

  • @evans387 He didn't want to ruin the movie by being too specific.

  • good review.

  • Really a fenomenal movie.

  • what an amateur reviewer... could you be any more vague on your adjectives??

  • hey guys, i saw the Movie and i was so impressed by the music that i had to give it a try in fl studio. I made a Trance remix and its definitely worth listening ;) so pls have a look and comment. thx!

  • great movie great plot great performance from san rockwell and kevin spacey. awesome music by clint mansell. love his work 2 thumbs up way up for this movie !

  • @ulyssesbarbosa i think people should relax on goin overboard with sayin how great kevin spacey was...while he is an excellant actor lets be honest here.......he was handed a script. OK he learned the diologe and im sure he memorized it to a point, and read the rest but he only narrated it did NO acting. Sure maybe you liked his voice, i wouldnt want to here gilbert gotfried or carrot top do it, but lets be honest it was no major achievement, sam rockwell was fukin brilliant playin 2 parts

  • is 112 years is the near year's?

  • Good review thanks for sharing.

  • Moon was amazingly flat and dull. May appeal to low-brow, sci-fi pedestrians but as far as actually coming close to approaching mature, adult science-fiction, it failed horribly.

Clones? Really? That's what the twist is? And the AI computer is so ignorable that it shouldn't really exist. The movie wasn't terrible, but it was not Oscar worthy. Not even close.

  • @F33bs the computer was gerty not al. flat and dull movie ? no it was slow, simple and at the same time brilliant. twist ? lol no clones were the storyline u simple fuker, lol. low - bro sci-fi pedestrians ? lol, u probably just another jerk off who thinks star wars was better than blade runner. approaching mature ? if u were then u would have enjoyed the movie...and by the way numb nuts...the computer was brilliant ! why ? cause he was good not evil like the one in 2001 space odyssey.

  • FACT: The director of this film, Duncan Jones, is none other than the son of singer David Bowie!

  • @kickodude FACT: International Movie Data Base (IMDB)

  • ¨Sam Rockwell should have won all sots of shit for his performance in this film!... He was amazing, and so was the movie!

  • this was a great movie and i'm so disappointed in myself for not seeing it sooner. the acting was great and the story was realistic. i put it up there with district 9 on my list of best Sci-fi movies.

  • Just saw it recently and I loved it - no over the top CGI - great acting and story line although I guessed pretty early on that he was a clone.

  • Oh man, I loved this movie. Funny, I'm a big sci-fi fan but it takes a while to find the good stuff considering theres alot of b-movies out there and all. So when I saw this I doubted getting 20minutes into it. MAN was I wrong! The acting was amazing, and again very true about the music.

  • 66 people didnt find any helium3 on the moon ):

  • I thought it was a excellent movie too... I loved the... Brotherhood of Sam... the... breaking the link... and things are not what they seem aspect of the movie...

The use of the HAPPY FACE icons to show emotions of the robot was genius too:)

Ok Buddha speaking... SAM IS EVERYONE... BUTTHEN BECOMES ENLIGHTENED:)

  • when he gets sick and says he wants to go home it made me cry and movies don't ever do that to me. Best movie and acting I have rented it 2 times and now I am going to buy it...jeff

  • avatar had the effects, but moon and district 9 were much better than avatar when it comes to story plot and acting

  • Amazing! Did anyone else see it as a new twist on Plato's allegory of the cave?

I was stunned by everything in this film.

  • @SolsticeVibe oh plato s allegory...oh man....that thing...i still remember it...what a head fuck..

  • Have you seen sunshine?

  • @TH3USUALSUSPECT aw yeah. Gotta say, both are great sci-fi's, but I found poor the ending with the psycho guy (Sunshine) but this one I found good till the end.

  • Sci Fi at its best. I hope Duncan Jones will write more awsome scripts. Rockwell was perfect for the role/s. Maybe this film bombed at the box office because most people have been dumbed down so much they can't stand to be required to think and can't concentrate for more than a few seconds before the next explosion.

  • If I had to choose between Inception and Moon I'd definitely go with Moon. It evoked strange feelings in me in a way that Inception couldn't do.

  • @ReefFrog inception sucked...the entire movie was about a dream, while that was pretty neat......the dream sucked.

  • unfortunately neither of us were able to get his autograph but im jealous of my dad who caught a glimpse of him in person! :(

i ve never re watched a rental before; Moon was defs my top 3 fave movie of 2009! dying to see Mute, the sequel to Moon!

  • Duncan Jones came down to Montreal and directed Source Code (set to theatrical release soonish). at first that was already cool BUT then i found out my pops, a special effects buyer/ technician was working on it. lol he only realized who DJ was half way through production.

  • am i the only personw ho dosent know moon

  • Yea this film was pretty sick!

  • *SPOILER ALERT* I just watched the movie on netflix the movie was really good but i only have one question. i don't want to give to much any for those of you who haven't seen it. Did the sams have a expiration date or was it food poisoning?

  • Comment removed

  • @ZacharyLump expiration time: 3 years.

  • @ZacharyLump Expiration date I believe. The clones have a 3 year life span

  • @ZacharyLump 3 years then the clone dies.

  • I was totally blown away... It is a extrodenary movie. never seen anything like it!

  • saw it last night on Netflix online. Love it. Got hooked to the character and don't want to movie to end.

  • @lilymansin Same here! I watched it yesterday morning on Netflix IS, i cried on some parts.. I wish Gertty was here with me..

  • awesome movie!

  • Duncan Jones wrote the story, not the film itself.

Also, Duncan Jones is making a new movie with a 2011 release called "Source Code", which has a trailer. And Duncan Jones is planning on returning to the Moon universe in in a new film (titled "Mute Witness", I guess. Im hearing bith Mute and Mute Witness, but I have no clue which is right), and Sam Bell will have a cameo, explaining what happened after the Sam clone get back to Earth more indepth. He says Sam Rockwell may return for that role.

  • quality film, - 9/10 , - top story, and the music is ace.

  • keep it in your pants

  • Worth torrenting?

  • @crampdawg08 Worth buying. On Blu-Ray.

    Yep. Its that good.

  • wtf! please, enought people talking to a camera! youtube is turning into a openning season of desperates for 1minute of fame! boring!

  • @alLxs1976 That was the whole point of youtube in the first place if you didnt know.

  • best move in 2009!

  • hey guys, i saw the Movie and i was so impressed by the music that i had to give it a try in fl studio. I made a Trance remix and its definitely worth listening ;) so pls have a look and comment. thx!

  • @bratwurst130

so are you liek gonna posta link or something?

  • @Ender1337otron @Ender1337otron This is my original channel "Clubgeist"

    Moon Soundtrack /watch?v=PNjqY48UEWU

  • Moon and District 9 kicked the shit out of Avatar.

  • @DRfronkensteen all 3 are good

  • @DRfronkensteen i was gonna say that lol, their my fav movies

  • @DRfronkensteen I couldn't agree more, Avantar is just a mix between lots of stories like Alien, Pocahontas, Call me Joe, etc, but with some efects. I mean, Avatars only porpouse was to show what we can do with a computer, it doesnt deserve an oscar, this movie does! Sorry for my english, im from Argentina.

  • @DRfronkensteen Couldn't agree with you more. Avatar , although it was well made. Was made for mindless idiots.

  • @DRfronkensteen you're right! i am dying to watch Moon and District Nine - 2. !!!

  • @DRfronkensteen You are so fucking right !!!!!!!! nice said bru :)

  • I was blown away by this film when I saw it. I already had a huge appreciation for Sam Rockwell, so I was excited to see him taking a leading role. Wow. A truly nuanced film packed with intelligent, emotional, and largely existential content that isn't in any way reaching. If I were Duncan Jones, I could die happy knowing that I created something this perfect.

  • Great movie, little scary..amazing twist at the end...One of the best soundtrack..

  • fuck you men

  • What if a mining company with operations on the moon stored a large supply of clones of the same worker, so that every time the sole worker who runs the whole lunar operaiton dies or wants to go home, they replace him with one of his clones instead of sending a new man all the way out there? It would be unfair and unpleasant for the clone who was out there and who became aware he was never going home wouldn't it. That's the entire movie summarized in two sentences.

  • @sebwingfield nice run ons.. thats more of a paragraph

  • amazing movie.

    kaya scodelario = awesome.

  • A.MAZING.

I just saw it for the 2nd time, I LOVED IT. No other words, I mean really, NO OTHER WORDS. Just beautifully done, I can't wait for the possible sequels!!! Duncan Jones...you are the BEST!

  • moon watch?v=8GjdmVhgNWs

  • How underated was this movie?Just recently watched and was blown away. Its a masterpiece for people who appreciate good movies.

  • yeah very underrated movie

  • F**k the shut up !

  • what do you think about it having a prequel?

  • @thefrickenfilmcritic NO!!! it will just ruin this one... what can a prequel be? The company installing the facility on the moon? :)

  • I couldn't find it anywhere, and by what I heard, I NEEDED to see it. I finally found a store that had one single copy on DVD, and I bought it. I just watched it, and all I can say is: Moon is a masterpiece. Everything was just outstanding.

  • Good movie by David Bowie's son. And, of course, Clint Mansell of PWEI is always a definite bonus.

If you liked Moon, check out the 1972 film Silent Running.

  • @nebby6 Clint Mansell is a beast!!! A perfect choice to make the soundtrack. John Murphy would've also been a good choice, and Hans Zimmer would DESTROY this movie if he made the soundtrack - not saying that he's bad, but he doesn't have the simple beauty that Mansell has to make a movie like so personal and intimate, Zimmer would have made music so "WOW" that we wouldn't focus on the movie lol

  • I had to wait a long time to see it - and I was blown away, too.

  • Hey search Moon on the website, there a page on facebook join it please!

  • clint mansell. once I heard that I knew I would watch this.

  • I only saw maybe the first half hour, and from that I thought it was pretty good.

  • c'mon!! you just arrive so later.... check out 2001 space oddisey! and all you "bla bla bla", is a only lie like this movie!

  • Amazing Film

  • It wasn't amazing but Sam Rockwell was.

  • loved it

  • Please use a thesaurus, lack of superlatives reduces your review's credibility

  • Did a critical review for it back when it came out... (Beware, contains spoilers)

    thesilentrogue.weebly.com/reviews.html

  • @thesilentrogue Thanks for the spoiler alert!

vote this up to replace MD Sakamodo's spoil

  • i loved this movie. omfg its sad that nobodys ever heard of it. one of the better indie films ive seen.

  • This movie was excellent. The only thing I think could've been better was the reveal of the twist. It should have been later in the movie and more of a shock, but other than that this amazing movie shall be in my top 15

  • Seriously people shouldnt post spoilers in here. It really is a film that is so superior to most out there at that the moment. The ending and how everything that you thought was going to happen doesnt is the best part about it.

  • Moon was VERY good. VERY.

  • Overuse of the words, 'awesome', 'complex' and 'excellent'.

  • you have a bit of sam rockwell and duncan jones' jizz around your mouth.

accepted the film was exeptional. but you just dick ride it so hard for 2:00. FAIL.

  • I can't believe it didn't even get a single nomination in the Oscars... fucking assholes!

    Best Picture, Best Actor!!!

  • @WinterWineStudio AGREE!

  • No, i'm sorry, but i disagree.

They took a cool idea, and made it boring. They gave away the twist way too quickly and easily. This movie was easy to follow because they gave away everything within 5-10 minutes of each other, or thats what it felt like, making the movie somewhat plain, boring, and a really long feeling. It felt like there was no climax in the movie as well, and everything had the same pace.

This movie did not meet it's category of mystery or thriller. I would give it a 7.

  • i have an objection until the very end i had to pause it several times to figure out what was going on

  • nice review,

  • It's a great movie, especially the acting is great to watch, but sometimes I felt the robot was being too human, but all in all great movie experience.

  • I don't really get this movie, I didn't find it moving, in fact I was bored out of my mind through most of it. The shots of that wheeled vehicle on the Moon surface was used over and over it got so tiring, and the music... I can barely even remember what it sounded like because the content left me so numb. Sam Rockwell was ok considering he had the responsibility of being the only person on screen the whole time, I may be in a minority here; but I thought it sucked.

  • AHHH FUCK SPOILER COMMENTS!!! LEGGIT!

  • Didn't like the movie at all. Bad acting, boring, non convincing, cliche.

Looks so freaking fake, its unbelievably childish.

  • great movie, very realistic and natural acting, a stunning performance.

    i would love a sequel

  • moon was the single most depressing movie i have ever seen, before that it was memento.

both describe how i feel all the time.

now it feels my anxiety is three fold having seen that movie and i have been bummed out for the several days since seeing it. its amazing but... it actually kills a part of you.

  • loved it....

It was one of those movies that you love while your watching it and think about it later and love it even more...Fantastic

both sam rockwell and kevin spacey two of my fav actors ever

  • Great film, I watched it last night, 5 stars!!!

  • i feel happy when i see gerdy

  • I agree with this review, intelligent sci-fi movie, sam rockwell and kevin spacey are amazing, the movie looks very realistic and the music is haunting.

  • why is everone being so nasty just cos he has some balls and actualy put what he thought about it for other people you call him gay? WTF!?!? P.S great movie

  • maaan its one of the worst movies EVER!

    Epic bad acting

  • @ehhyah is that right

  • @ehhyah Are you kidding me? I've heard it be called boring (since it's a movie that was based on films like 2001: A Space Odyssey) but bad acting?! Sam RockWell? Bad acting? You must have seen a different movie because Sam Rockwell never does a bad performance.

The movie was phenomenal, great acting, brilliant use of both CG and miniatures (I dare you to check what movie studio still uses miniatures for a good portion of their film) and wonderful music by Clint Mansell.

  • U SEEMS LIKE BIGGEST G A Y EVERRRRRR

  • @kakagroup1 dude shut the fuck up, this guys just trying to give his opinion so people like me who havent seen it can get an idea of what other people thought of it. so fuck off
