Just to inform that Mary Frye of Baltimore, Maryland (d. 9/04) wrote the poem in 1932 to comfort a friend whose mother died in Germany. She was not interested in making money from it and so stayed well in the background. Through the years, the poem itself made its way all over the English speaking world and was eventually translated to other languages. I hope the Japanese translation gives proper credit to her.
