'The Future Now' is fast becoming my favourite Hammill solo album. As 'Sitting Targets' occupied that position for a long time, this video is a double treat - I'm a particular fan of his awkward, stripped back new wave period. On that note, it's a shame he never had a band member playing synths live. While their use in the albums themselves is suitably sparse, they really add to the overall sound and atmosphere.
That said, I didn't notice that on a few of K Group shows, Guy Evans has a Korg MS-20 hidden back behind his drum kit and would come up with some fairly demented sample-and-hold during the breaks in 'Modern'.
