@MrCOHfan - If you know anything about weapons, you'll know that Heckler & Koch (the German weapons manufacturing company which designed the HK53, G36-series, MP5, etc.) names their weapons with different title variations (HK, G, MP, etc.). Needless to say, the HK53/G53 is the same thing -- kind of how the M416 is also called the HK416.

If I came across as ignorant on that, my bad; I can see where I went wrong. But henceforth, the M416 is called the M416 because it is in the shape of an M4 frame, but with an M16-length 20" barrel. The same could be said about the Bushmaster M468, only it fires 6.8mm rounds rather than 5.56mm rounds.

I'm upset with BF3. They failed with the reload on the HK53, just like CoD did with the MP5. Don't they realize that you have to pull back the charging handle, lock it, release the mag, put a new mag in, then release the charging handle? That is a huge detail they missed entirely.
UNLESS your mag isnt empty, in which case the mechanism is already engaged, then the hammer is already cocked (ready to fire cuz there is already a round in chamber) so if you were to eject the mag, insert another, those rounds would continue to feed into the chamber....

@hellcatdave1 I don't like KAC that much either, but they make solid stuff. SR15, almost un borks the AR platform. I like the MP5, and get the importance of non over penetrating rounds in buildings. But as a more versatile gun, CQBRs, MK18s and such are replacing the SMGs in use. I think the correct way to see it, is a narrowing of use for SMGs. I mean look at it, HK and FN are trying to introduce their respective HK416C and FN SCAR L PDW as PDWs. SMGs are much better for that. MP7, P90 anyone?

@hellcatdave1 Also, The stock isn't a direct MP5 stock. The side tangs were lengthened to accommodate the slightly longer receiver. Without actually looking at it, the lower is pretty much interchangeable with HK33s. With my understanding of the roller delayed mechanism, their is no piston. You're wrong on that. So all that was needed to do was to cut the barrel and CH+ tube down. Also the BCG is from the HK33 with a slightly re profiled locker. But if HK says so, what ever.
Its not the MP5, you can unlock the MP5 in co-op though. This is just the HK53, its not the cod MP5 because the cod MP5 isnt even a real gun, all mw games have fake guns and only a few are barely real.

@sneakyshadow7 no its a first version of MP5 which is the HK53, HK53 having a design base on the german G3A3 assault rifle. MP5 was the latter HK53 was its father. In game in BF3 this HK53 pretty much kills every one in close range.

@atheosxgaming HK53 was designed in the late 80's, unlike the MP5 which was the late 60's, the HK53 is practically a G3 with slimline handgaurds , shorter barrel, and rechambered for 5.56mm with a collapsible stock. Hoped that helped explain to you the differences :)

@flattsrocker15 Our German military has completely different names for all these weapons. In the English version of BF3 this gun is named G53 and in the German version it is called HK53 (Heckler&Koch, say Hackla und Coch), but the trivia name is MP5 because it a special version like MP5K.

I'm upset with BF3. They failed with the reload on the HK53, just like CoD did with the MP5. Don't they realize that you have to pull back the charging handle, lock it, release the mag, put a new mag in, then release the charging handle? That is a huge detail they missed entirely.

UNLESS your mag isnt empty, in which case the mechanism is already engaged, then the hammer is already cocked (ready to fire cuz there is already a round in chamber) so if you were to eject the mag, insert another, those rounds would continue to feed into the chamber....

@POFproductions1 No. It's the small version of the HK33E. HK33E is the G3 rechambered for 5.56mm, G3 is 7.62mm. The HK53 is a SMG, it was designed as one and sold as one. It has the original MP5 "Slimline" handgaurd and the original collapsible stock, with a small barrel length.

As the game would like to call it, it's a carbine; but the game has a few problems with misnomers. At best it should be called an SBR assault rifle.Tangent, super small assault rifles are becoming more popular and are some what overtaking SMGs as PDWs. Though I still think SMGs make better PDWs.

@shift9303The HK53 is virtually the same weapon as the MP5, but chambered for the 5.56mm cartridge. The idea of a sub-machine gun in this caliber may at first seem strange, as until now, pistol ammunition has been almost exclusively used in this class of weapon.

Yes, the MP7 and P90 are pushing it, but the 4.6 and 5.7 are still pistol loads. 5.56 may not be the best rifle cartridge but it still is a rifle caliber. HK never stated the HK53 is a SMG. It may be based off of a SMG chambered into 5.56, but that does not mean it is still a SMG. Nomenclature and intended use don't have to coincide. Ex. M27 IAR.

@hellcatdave1 Well, I felt like adding more. These numbers don't mean anything. Weight? Plain Jane M4A1 is lighter. Size? SCAR L CQC is only marginally longer; MK18s are shorter. ROF? SCAR L and M4A1 have higher ROFs. Muzzle velocity? Most SBRs have low speeds. None of those factors are defining factors for SMGs. The caliber is. 5.56 is a rifle caliber, ergo the HK53 is a rifle. I never said that super compact assault rifles aren't good/ intended for CQC; Ex. MK18. But they still are ARs.

SMG's are not becoming obsolete at all, if they are explain why they are used by special forces on the most important ops? Of course, they aren't used half as much as they were during WW2 and even Korea. But that's because they are only used by the best of the best, for the really important missions.

@hellcatdave1 I don't like KAC that much either, but they make solid stuff. SR15, almost un borks the AR platform. I like the MP5, and get the importance of non over penetrating rounds in buildings. But as a more versatile gun, CQBRs, MK18s and such are replacing the SMGs in use. I think the correct way to see it, is a narrowing of use for SMGs. I mean look at it, HK and FN are trying to introduce their respective HK416C and FN SCAR L PDW as PDWs. SMGs are much better for that. MP7, P90 anyone?

In an emergency just put the gun in happy mode and go. Only thing I didn't like about it is the mag release, but hey that's just the nature of the setup.

@hellcatdave1 Also, The stock isn't a direct MP5 stock. The side tangs were lengthened to accommodate the slightly longer receiver. Without actually looking at it, the lower is pretty much interchangeable with HK33s. With my understanding of the roller delayed mechanism, their is no piston. You're wrong on that. So all that was needed to do was to cut the barrel and CH+ tube down. Also the BCG is from the HK33 with a slightly re profiled locker. But if HK says so, what ever.

Its not the MP5, you can unlock the MP5 in co-op though. This is just the HK53, its not the cod MP5 because the cod MP5 isnt even a real gun, all mw games have fake guns and only a few are barely real.

@atheosxgaming HK53 was designed in the late 80's, unlike the MP5 which was the late 60's, the HK53 is practically a G3 with slimline handgaurds , shorter barrel, and rechambered for 5.56mm with a collapsible stock. Hoped that helped explain to you the differences :)
