It's possible there is even some Tetrational growth. The emergant proprties that comes from exponentual technology of the far future are something on the order of {35,92,13,19}, {70,28,49,28,84,49,27,94,28,17} or {19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19,19}. The applications are another story to think about.
I have noticed Kurzweil is very quick to respond to any criticism of his ideas. Such as his response to a recent article by Paul Allen called the 'Singularity isn't near'. Although Kurzweil has every right to defend his ideas. His rigid defense of them in the face of criticism from peers that are just as educated and clever as he is is beginning sound more like religious apologetics than reason.
@celshader I've read both Paul Allen's article and Kurzweil's books. I think that Paul Allen fails to recognize that neuroscience is too new a field to state that it's not nearly up to the task in the near future. Given its relatively recent inception, it has accomplished a lot and I think that it will continue to accomplish a lot. However, I agree with Allen that Kurzweil's prediction for a Singularity is too soon however if naturalism is correct, the Singularity can and will happen.
@Saligubung Software isn't optimized or advanced enough (in games and OS's) to discover a problem and dynamically adapt to fix it. So for now, you will need to keep barbarically restarting your pc lol But, AI controls traffic signals etc. So it is poss.
This presentation is simply giving an idea of how powerful the technology we have is, how useful it has been to getting us to this point in "civilization", where it might be going in the future, how we are part of that and our ultimate reliance!
what will happen in the future is that A.I. will become more and more "encapsulated" , in other words "hidden within the ecostructure"... so i think that we'll see Ray become less and less credible from a physical-public knowledge prospective, but not as much I suppose from intellectual community

If it's so fricking good, why does my starcraft 2 keep crashing on me? My old warcraft worked better than the new starcraft.

exponential this, exponential that...he always talks about that.

@buzznandes
Yes because things are actually going like that. And I don't see it stopping for a long time...

@buzznandes very good. your brains pattern recognition algorithms have kicked in and discovered a pattern. good show! :P

@buzznandes
I guess then that you do not understand the application of the term exponential.

@bighands69 I know what exponential means. I am just saying he uses the word "exponential" in a "exponential way" :)
The computing power is growing exponentialy, but he should focus more now in showing the software development towards the AI.
What is a super-computer without an operative system ? It´s a Einstein in a coma.
Anyway Bill Gates says in 2030 the biggest industry will be robotics, that´s a cool thing.
