My entire family live and work in Cumbernauld and we all agree it's shite. I've been here my entire life and hated it for as long as I can remember. Not only is most of it a horrendous eyesore, but there is absolutely no culture here - the few who try to bring some in are forced out by ridiculously high rents for tiny patches of space that just aren't worth it. The locals have no pride at all, no sense of community and therefore can't be arsed trying to better there situation. :(
@teenagenutcase1 It's such a shame. I moved to the town when it was brand new in 1962 and it was fab. I loved growing up in a clean spacious new town after the Glasgow tenements and had a great childhood and teen life there. I was 7 when we moved there. I left in 1979 when my first baby was due but it's sad to see how a town with so much promise has gone down the pan. My mum is still there and is quite happy as she is in one of the "better areas" with great neighbours.

@bigderekkeene Totally agree. It was great in the sixties seventies and eighties, then in went bad. Wee drunken neds who thought they were the biz, fuckin' plastic gangsters. Take some of them tae provanmill and drap them aff, then we'll see how hard they are. cumebershite is a dump, It had a cinema and 10 pin bowlin' one time, it's awe fuckin' bingo and fast food. Too many work dodgers on the buroo swallyin bucky everyday makin' good folks life a fuckin' misery. Worst toon in the fuckin' world.
Totally agree. Worst town on the fuckin' planet. Dismal grey nothing going for it. It was great in the sixties seventies and eighties, now it is full of daft wee hardmen. Drop some off in provanmill and see how hard they are. It was a Glasgow overspill full of great Glasgow folk, but the wee fuckin' neds that are born there have something wrong with them.
