  • haha i like the middle finger at 0:40

  • i will dust you with my KLZE MX3 thats a 2.5L V6 i've had both cars so i know whats up!! i do love the V8 SHO GM Sucks

  • the v8 aurora doesnt have shit on a v8 sho. ive race all kinds and even gtps wit some mods...i dont know why people think that the v8 sho is slow...i gurentee u that a sho will get u 7 out of 10 x's. they get a bad name cuz its a taurus. u put a sho dropped a couple inches and tints wit red calipers nxt to any gm in its class, hands down the sho is a much nicer car. i own every gen sho...even a gen 4 an 03 durates wit a gtp m90 on it. my baby is my 97 twin turbo from 2 1.7l civics. fuck gm!

  • wonder if it was a 4.0 aurora if it wouldve done better

  • @leschampagnes1 It most definately would have. The v8 4.0 would have pulled off pretty fast around 50mph.

  • dats a damn shame that aurora runs wit an sho

  • the guy does not know how to drive the aurora fors are fucking shitty cars come get some of my riviera

  • Yawn.. SHO has a bigger engine.. SHO would get pwned by the V8 model... Unfair race.. Whatever, every kid has to add in their "if's." Well, sorry thats not the case with this video. A race is a race is a race; whether the cars weigh the same or not, have same power, done from a roll or stop, or whether the cars are even comparable, whatever. The SHO won. If it matters that much to you, buy a V8 Aurora and make a video racing him.

  • Now if that was a V8 Aurora, the SHO would have no chance. Although for having 215 HP compared to the SHOs 235, the Aurora didn't do too bad. Wait until a 4.0L with 250 ponies rolls around the corner

  • that was funny as hell when he took the picture

  • nuthin like the sound of a Ford SHO

  • Aurora weighs 3627lbs about 300lbs more than the 3329lbs Sho. Switching the camera made it almost even despite 20hp less. I think camera man weighed less than 300lbs for sure or that is one fat dude. The Intrigue 3.5 especially with 3.29gearing would be a close race these cars competed back then not really the Aurora.

  • great race shorules

  • Very true. This was done, however, to end an argument between the two drivers.

  • Gotta' love those Ford TaurusSHOs! I'm looking for a '99 model. ;-)

  • Any other models of what?

  • he said older. But any 4.0 V8 aurora will take an SHO V8. People can make claims all day long but this video clearly shows that the 3.5 (V6) is almost as quick as the SHO. A second gen would put this SHO to shame and a first gen would do some damage.

  • The V8 SHOs were considerably slower then the V6 SHOs if you wanted to start comparing different generations of Auroras to the subject at hand.

  • its like comparing apples to apples though, there was no real change in power rating from either 4.0's. Its idiotic to run a V6 against a V8 when the Hp ratings should be as close to possible. The SHO has quite a leap on the 3.5's power. A first or second Gen aurora are within 10 HP of the SHO. And both generations outweigh the taurus. As for your comment about the V6 models owning any of the above listed cars..sadly you are right..which seems stupid on fords part..to make a slower SHO V8

  • Right, and any old model SHO would assrape them all.

  • and the older auroras would get beat by an older sho

  • lol why would you put up a vid of your ass getting handed to you?

  • Durrrrr I R smart!

  • lol look I'm just fuckin with you man come on I ride the small yellow bus!YEAAAA!!!! LOL

  • Cheaper to maintain I'm not sure, once things go bad with these cars its a lil pricey so SHO's probably have me beat there. And i'm aware that V6 SHO's are the quickest ever made, I've never pushed one so I don't know how the rora would do. My bet would be that it would atleast hang if not beat a first gen SHO. and I thought the newer SHO's also came with a 5spd?

  • I've owned 6 of the SHOs (5 V6s & 1 V8) They are both VERY expensive to work on, & if the V8 beat the Aurora then it would have no chance at keeping up with the V6 SHO. Also, all the V8s are all 4spd automatics, Mazda makes a 5spd trans. that is interchangeable in the V8s. You can find them on Ebay for pretty cheap compared to getting the factory trans. rebuilt. I hope that clears some things up for you.

  • 3rd gen sho's were auto only. And a First gen SHO was the lightest and quickest. I took out a few of the Frist gen 4.0 auroras even the one with the optional gearing and exhaust with my 92 SHO MTX when I had it. Though granted it didnt sound anywhere near as good as the SHO 3.4 V8 or the Aurora V8

  • The optional geared auroras (the Autobahns) are actually in some cases slower off of the line than the norm tranny, and there was no optional exhaust on either of the aurora models. The V8's in both of these cars have a nice throaty snarl especially under hard acceleration.

  • i wanna race against a v8 SHO just to see where im at.. i think i could take this SHO in my Aurora =p

  • our v8 auroras should easily be able to take a v8 SHO

  • I drove a V8 Aurora and almost bought it about 9 years ago. It was a 97 model. NIce nice car but not as quick as a V8 SHO. I do love the looks of those Auroras though with that buttercream leather feel of the seats. I think the reason I did not buy it was because it was black and overpriced.

  • negative, the SHO only came with a five speed from 89-95. then from 96-99 it was all auto, now the new 2010 SHO should be a standard but i think it will be a fun ride with the paddle shift..

  • is there much nws on a2010 SHO...that would probably be one of the nicer 2010 models IMO

  • yes the 2010 SHO should be released to the public by july. IIRC base price is around 40k, with a 365whp twin turbo v6 motor.

  • "only came with a five speed from 89-95" BS I have a 93 auto

  • i meant that the manual was an option from 89-95. sorry about the confusion

  • OMFG gotyomomma YOU DONT HAVE A 366 hp AURORA...not fucking possible..jesus, and my 4.0 with 250....thats right 2 fucking 50 not 366. would kill that SHO. the 3.5 tried though and didnt do to bad

  • Oh brother....you wouldn't "kill" that SHO. You may squeak out a few car lengths, but that's about it, and top end you would probably lose.

  • I highy doubt that top end I would lose, The auroras top end is why it would kill an SHO. if it didnt have the high end torque that it has than the SHO's both generations would probably rape an aurora. The northstars were designed to have that mid-top end power not low end. Moserack99 do you not realize that the aurora is also a luxury car. and by that far more luxurious than the SHO.

  • The Aurora is 100X more luxurious than any generation SHO, and probably cheaper to maintain. But top end is the SHO's specialty. Plus these are the slowest SHO's ever made. The V6 5spd was WAY faster (as much as 1.5 seconds) than these ones which only come with the granny shifting auto.

But besides the fact that neither one of these cars are race cars, the Aurora would probably be the better choice if luxury is top priority.

  • The new shos r shit a 92 is the shit those races made the sho look so bad

  • my 4.0 aurora would beat it

  • considering the v6 mtx SHO is faster then that junky gen 3 the aurora doesnt stand a chance against a real SHO

  • wanna race my 366 hp aurora gaurantee it would smoke that piece of shit

  • Pretty damn good considering the Aurora is almost 4,000lbs with a small V6.

  • This is amusing. Aurora owners calling the 4.0L reliable. I used to work for oldsmobile. Hell back in 99 or so you used to see shop floors litered with the 4.0L. The auroras defintely need more upkeep than most of the SHO's ive encountered. Also the Aurora by no means was as much fun to drive! though honestly wouldnt call the aurora V8 or the SHO v8 reliable. The V6 SHO though is a different story. Mine had 170k and ran great!

  • you are so wrong, What a shame.

  • nice video

  • its funny how people who drive oldsmobile make fun of a ford when there driving a car from a car comapny that isnt even around anymore

  • I don't know....neither one of these cars were built for racing but solely for luxury. The V6 Manual SHO is the only one that can be considered a race car, not the V8 one. Can all you Aurora fans stop saying how much a piece of shit the SHO V8 is and realize that it's a luxury car with widely spaced gears? Oh and by the way, it still won.

  • well personally im a fan of the ford taurus i own a 97'GL ive only had a few problems with it, however olds is the only GM product ive ever had any remote respect for (youll understand why you lose respect when you do an engine swap for an 86' blazer longest 6 weeks of my life)further more i almost bought the v8 auroa but it had too many miles on it for my taste

  • My Eldorado ETC would waste that SHO. It was a good race though.

  • I own a 95 aurora, 4.0L autobahn edition. The aurora offered that engine from 95-99, with two gear ratios. The autobahn could go 139 mph. In 01 the aurora was avail with the 215HP 3.5L v6, & 250hp 4.0L v8 again. The 1st gen sho, Yamaha 225hp 3.0L dohc posted better times than the next gen with the 235hp 3.4L v8, it was lighter. Had this been a race between the v8 aurora and the v8 sho, the sho would have lost especially if the olds was a 01-04 which was 800lbs lighter than the first gen.

  • The SHO's secondaries are stuck open, that's why your launch sucks. Hear how deeply it howls straight off the line? The IMRC is supposed to open the secodnaries @ 3400 RPMs to improve high-end torque, but if they are open on the low-end, power is noticeably lacking. If you had working runners, the race would be very clearly one-sided.

  • The IMRC (intake manifold runner control) was working just fine. You can clearly hear the runners open up in the video. It was actually a strong running V8 SHO. The car G-Tech'd a 15.2, which is hard to do in an average 96-99 SHO.

  • Really?? That's weird... Sounds just like mine with wired secondaries.

  • i think ill agree with that!!

  • 3.5 v6......3.4 v8.....that doesnt make sense... either the v6 pistons are huge or the v8 are tiny.........v6=3500cc v8=3400cc ???

  • No that is correct...The pistons in the V8 SHO have to be tiny to only diplace 3.4L. Think Formula 1. They have some V12's that are only 4.0L. This engine shares a common but distant base design.

  • What are you smoking?

This doesnt mean the pistons are small at all!

If anything, i bet it just has a short stroke

It could even be a combination but i HIGHLY DOUBT its entirely due to tiny pistons.

  • me? yes it means the pistons in the v6 are larger than the v8 period.

  • I'd agree with you except the 2.5L Duratec V6 has the exact same bore and stroke as this 3.4LV8. Both engines deliver high revving torque and horsepower without the jolting muscle at low RPM's of bigger motors. They are small by design and are built to deliver a mean punch after it is wound up.

  • if you are talking about the gen 2 SHO then you are wrong its not a 2.5. they had 3.0 and 3.2 difference being the 3.2 didnt have a mtx option

  • No I was comparing the Contour SVT's 2.5L to the SHO V8. It is widely rumored that the SHO V8 is just a CSVT's 2.5 with two added cylinders and a different intake manifold and some other tweaks.

  • it's got the same bore and stroke, but I think the SHO would be based on the regular contours V6. The CSVT makes 80 hp/l, the SHO only 69

  • Probably right....the Contour V6 is related to the CSVT V6 which is related to the SHO V8. They all have Duratec base designs.

  • 3.5 is not a "huge" V6 at all..... The GM 3.8L V6, for example, was put in so many cars for so many years and that's bigger than the 3.5 (obviously). The GM 3800 is probably the most widley used engine in the domestic cars for the past decade or more

  • to tc220485 I have a 3800 in my 90 olds98 wonder what mods I could do?

  • 95 aurora's would smoke that junky ford!!!

  • They guy in the v8 sho actually did you a favor...it's common knowledge that the v6 sho with the manual gearbox is much faster.

  • This is true.

  • still the aurora can keep up very well considering the fact that it is a 3.5l V6 and the Taurus is a 3.4 V8. Now Thats saying something.

  • still the aurora keeped up considering it was a v6 compared to the v8 in the taurus...thats saying something.

  • A SHO versus a 3.5 Shortstar makes no sense to me, I am amazed that the Aurora could keep up at all.

  • lol, that tiny piece of shit V8 in the SHO is nothing. Not only that, the Aurora's transmission can make it over 60k miles before it needs to be replaced and it has some semblance of build quality.

  • OOps, sorry for all those mis-spellings toward the end of that last post. SHEESH!

  • To continue. The long legs on the SHO's kick in AFTER the 1/4 is past. Let us not forget, OEM tires ARE 'Z' rated and FORD has the cutoff set at 144mph. which many an SHO forum member car attest hitting a on time or another (O:

  • Ok Brook32v AND the clem87...

Guess I stand corrected, At any rate, the v6 Aurora ran just fine for what it is, and it shows in the video. The SHO motor is about the same size as the Olds. well, its not a huge difference in these cars. Read on... Again, the times you state and the video show just what you would expect to see on the track or street. The Aurora turned a slower ET by your report, but a higher top speed which shows it was pulling a bit harder on the top end.

    ......Gary

  • an awesome engine stuck in a taurus lol shos are funny! I own two of them and have spent less than 5,000$ combined

  • an awesome engine stuck in a taurus lol shos are funny, I own two of them and have spent less than 5,000$

  • o Mr.MyAurora1995 i'll smoke your ass in my 91 sho worse then thet 97... you aint got shit with that shit car!!!

  • You guys need to read the damn description. Like I said, it was a 215hp 3.5 Aurora, NOT a 4.0L.

  • well "andytaurus" u r not doing ur homework lately r u. Ford is recalling 1992-2004 all models back for an cruise control switch that does catches on fire while driving and gets stuck. u call that safe for families. Tauruses r not safe no matter what u say. Ford has had the most recalls. GM has not ever had that many recalls in its whole history. Another thing is my 95 Aurora has 197,250 miles on it and I also own a 2001 Aurora with 78,000 miles have no problems with them both.

  • Well u dont know anything about Oldsmobile's or GM, that has nothing to do about that if they were good or not. And another thing is just because u dont see many on the road does not mean they are bad because they really are nice cars and like u dont see many Escalades,Navigators, and other luxury cars because they cost more money to buy. Tauruse's are cheapley made and not high quality while the aurora is end of the line materials.

  • well you no nothing about ford or the taurus i have one with high milage and it has not given me any problems, i do know that most gm cars are crap and i think that ford makes a better car/truck than any gm car/truck but thats just my opinion

  • But to tell you the truth the Taurus are a death trap. Not a reliable car and Auroras can still kick butt and beat any Taurus. I own a 95 aurora Oldsmobile so I know.

  • taurus's are a lot more reliable than aurora's theres a lot more taurus on the rode than there is aurora's and olsmobile is not even around anymore if the were good cars do you think they would have just stoped making them, that just shows how crappy they were we had a few olsmobile's and they all were crap

  • not reliable ur on meth clearly you have never had a taurus ive had my 1996 taurus gl since it rooled out of the plant and the odometer is about to rllover for the second time and i have never replaced the motor or trans it it an it rus like new

  • @transamnutt i call bs on that one i got one new kept maintenance on it and all it didnt even last 100,000 at normal driving

  • and clearly this is a V6 cuz i no damn well my v8 would have haded that SHO's ass over on a silver plater lol

  • Sorry to say, I believe the Aurora comes STANDARD with a 4.0 quad cam V8 !! Its 250 hp. to boot. I heard that the SHO was quicker back in the day, and this video shows just that... Listen to the audio of the Olds motor in the second pass. Sounds like its working just fine!

This from me, a former 1968 Olds 442 owner of 12 years and now Gen 3 SHO owner :O))

  • The first gen Aurora came with the 4.0 standard, but the second gen (here) came with the shortstar standard and the 4.0 optional.

  • Only the first gen Aurora(95-99) was available only with the 4.0L V8, the V6 was introduced to the 2001 Aurora lineup.

  • a 235hp SHO should have easily walked a 215hp Aurora, either that was really a 4.0L Aurora or somebody's car isn't running right (or that shortstar is a freak).

  • That was a v6 Aurora you can hear by the engine. If it was the v8 the SHO wouldn't stand a chance, unless it was a manual generation 2.

  • If it was a manual Gen I or II, the V8 Aurora would get its ass handed to it. The V8 SHO was garbage--it was the testament to Ford cutting costs and worrying about the reputation of the Mustang.

  • now thats not even fair get a real aurora V8 vs V8 none of this V8 vs V6 shit comonmine would eat that ford

  • Well even v8 vs v6 , the v6 is a bigger liter motor.
