Honestly, I think it's because it's a more masculine move. Graceful, but quick decisive and powerful.

I'm really interested to see how this sport/artform will progress with male dancers. Right now they are borrowing a lot from feminine styles. But eventually we might see a completely different style emerge, sort of like how male gymnasts compare to female gymnasts.

How would a guy go about learning to pole dance anyway? I'm a guy and straight but this looks really fun. I've always been interested in gymnastics but I too old to get into that now. How old is too take up pole dancing (I'm 25)? I have no interest in showing it off or anything but just looks like fun to play around on and get a workout at the same time. Not that I would expect to be half as this guy ever but.... still looks like fun. All videos and classes are just for girls... =/
