I'm grew up in Baltimore. It was a good city when I was a kid, now it's full of drugs and crime. There's not a day that goes by where you don't hear police and ambulance sirens blairing like 3 or 4 times a day.
This past summer I waited till my dad woke up then me and him would listen too traditional country and around 5am this song would always come on. When ever i listen to this song I remember the good times me and my dad had at 5am ever day in the summer.
It probably matters whose version you heard first. I heard it by Charley Pride first, and it still sounds the best to me. But, I'm a Bobby Bare fan, too.
To all youtubers. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see and hear all these great country singers that I grew up with but never saw. I have all the albums but it has been a revelation to see them performing.
Charlie Pride & Hal Katchum had a song together I am sure it was called Field of Yellow Flowers seen them years back on TV singing it together can not seem to find this one anywhere. Does anyone out there know where it can be found.
Try Tompall Glaser and the Glaser Bros. Tompall is the original songwriter and singer. I agree, Charlie's rendition is perfect, but Tompall is the one and only.
this a good job man from bobby bare "s song i use to listen to this on hte saturday oldies party man from hte radio ya remember mama and daddy buying your musical stuff man , i want to represent these fuckers when these hurricanes come through to destroy the bayous i live in man since my pa being one them cajun mafia boss
I have this album and several others by Charley Pride. Love the guy! One of the best musicians alive! I would love to get ahold of him. Saw him on Ralph Emery show and he named one venue that he did. Happened to be in my home town. As a matter of fact the only place he could have played there, was directly across from grandmas farm!
I just love the second-to-last chord Lloyd plays on that talking part. You know, the high one. (On beat four). On the line "Much more than.. SHE LOVED me". At 1:53.
Yeah Lloyd was THE MAN here...He told me a few years ago he resisted Charley's offer to play behind him at this "Live at Panther Hall" album in 1969, but Charley sweetened the pot to $10,000. and flew Lloyd in from Nashville that nite. There were only 3 mikes. One for Charley, one for Lloyd, and one for the band. Can you tell Charley worshiped the ground Lloyd walked on??? The whole entire "Panther Hall" album is pure gold. Hope u have it!!
