Actually, in the West children are taught a brief history of China in our history textbook. Although, the history books about China in the west tend to leave out a lot of key facts and is bias in it's interpretation of certain historical moments in China.

Such as Tienanmen Square Massacre could also be equivalent to the Waco Massacre of the United States, depending on who writes the history books.
