If you were practically breast-fed & bottle fed crap, don't know any better so it's practically gold to you. That's why I'm glad that I, as well as his sisters, played good music for my little cousin(25) so he doesn't have that conflict or inabtility to appreciate QUALITY music. He's still into the newer kats- as he should be- but he, unlike many of his counterparts & perhaps some of mine, has a stronger knowledge & appreciation of what came before than he would had he not had that exposure.

Like with the title 'Hip Hop Is Dead', I never truly understood how plenty of folks DIDN'T GET IT. From an ARTISTIC standpoint, the concept seems quite clear and should have been respected. Getting uptight about a STATEMENT is a bit crass in itself. Nas is perhaps one of the FEW artists. ARTIST as in a person who uses different mediums to create art and express his or herself freely. Perhaps Billy Joel was speaking from a much broader perspective when he wrote 'Honesty'.

Im taking law n society at my skool, the freedom of speech amendment isnt ABSOLUTE, there are some limitations, like stuff thats hurtful or threatening to other people. i dont think its really hurtful to call his album Nigger, but white folks r gonna b like OMG THATS RACIST. but i dont see how its hurting them so they should really stfu. black people dont care, they use it every day.

To be honest, I don't understand the fuss about Nas' album title. I mean it's 2007, N.W.A. set the record for using the N-word almost two decades ago, but now people are offended? Paris Hilton calls her girlfriends niggers now, which is fucking stupid, but even this whites-calling-other-whites-niggers trend is more than a decade old. It would be worse if he'd called his album "monkey" or some shit, but "nigger" doesn't mean shit now. I wouldn't be surprised if Bush called Cheney nigger
