  • Like just because of the dramatic pause.

  • @austin3013 PENIS!

  • Thank you. That was a very clear and helpful vdo. I have heard these terms very often but didnt really know what they meant. Now I know what they mean, cant wait to experiment it on the txm. Very nice video.

  • Very well explained , smart and very helpful. We need more of ur videos .

Some light humor u have .

    EXCELLENT>>

  • Not sure if you have either of these yet, but could you do a video on the blade msrx and blade 450 3D, talking about the expo and dual rates also. I really liked this video and am trying to learn all I can about expo and dual rate. Thanks!!!

  • Massively helpful! thank you!

  • WOW! thank you. slowely this will sink in. thank you again for such a excellent part i nthe DX6I how to... perfection

  • by any chance do u no or if any one can tell me how if u can make the servos move slower for the landing gear or flaps on the Dx6i ?

  • hi mate, i have a brandnew dx6i and when i put expo on it minimises (but only slightly so dont know if it will actually effect the sevro throw) how far each chanel on the monter moves. i dont know if this is right and have not had a chance to test it on a real rc plane as im getting my new plane for xmas.

i tested it by puttng 100% duel raetes on and 100% expo on high rates and 100% and no expo on low rates.

this made it clear the it affect the duel rates bit only slightly.

    many thanks

  • @erkrystof hey. thanks for the vids! when you said that spektrum uses positive expo instead of negative..can you comfirm?because a couple guys on the forums are setting up there dx6i's in flightn mode with negative expo, and it makes the heli more sensative to stick movement.thanks bro.

  • @pjb00stin Technically, you can do either positive or negative with any transmitter that supports it. We say 'Spektrum uses positive' because 99% of those using expo are using it to numb the stick around the center point. Setting up Spektrum with *negative* expo would make it much more sensitive around center point just like you stated. Hope that helps.

  • y dont i have the FM option in my DR Combie

i only have aleron rudder and elevator

  • @mike100000011 you have to setup the switch the "FM" or flight mode. go to the adjust list i believe, then scroll to D/R combo and change "INH" to FM..goodluck bro

  • @mike100000011 Helicopter models support using FM for combined DR, airplane memory model settings don't, you have to choose one of your three you listed as the combined switch. Wish they did.

  • Let me tell you something men, Mega Thanks for this video. There are does who teach and there are teachers. You my friend is an awesome teacher. Both the mathematical explanation and the visual are excellent. Thanks again.

  • @maskog Thanks!

  • Nice video. Entertaining and knowledgeable. Sub'd. Good work.

  • Thank you, verry helpfull!

  • I liked the "dramatic pause" :D I never used D/R to learn flying helis, but this was very helpful in knowing how to set it up. Efxaristo!

  • @thedoorsbiggestfan My pleasure.

  • What is the difference between travel and dual rate? is travel just to set your throw as to not over extend surfaces and work the servo to much?

  • @madde78273 That's pretty much spot on, madde. Dual rates can do the same as well, but they're usually used for toggling between a high and low rate for when you're going really fast or really slow with a craft, since speed and/or maneuvers will make your control surfaces more sensitive, like hovering compared to inverted tick tocks, etc.

  • Very helpful

  • very nice and very helpful video dude!

can u do a video explaining the mix 1 and 2 settings?

  • @xxaaeerroo Thank you! I hope to come back to mixing at some point, few more projects first, but it's on the list!

  • very helpful

  • @rcjuggernaut Thank you!

  • Thank you for making this video, it clears up a lot. I now get it. One question though, my flap/gyro switch seems to function the same as clicking the left stick would on the rtf controller (lp4dsm). Up is low rates and down is high on my msr. Would this be the same on any aircraft that supports dual rates with that controller? For instance my micro t-28 says in the manual that it has dual rates via clicking that stick, would the flap/gyro switch do the same thing? Can it be disabled?

  • @timbukII That's very interesting. I have not seen that before with the flap/gyro switch. If you go into the DR/EXPO menu for your model on the DX6i and flip that switch do you see the dual rates toggle? Did you set up any rates on that model or was it just bound and flown?

My gut thought is that it may work on some, but I wouldn't expect it on everything.

  • @erkrystof I think I figured it out. If you go to the gyro setting, you can set the rates that the switch activates. I had 0 at 50% and 1 at 100%. When I got the msr I had not had the dx6i long enough to know anything and I think I used settings I found on rcgroups or helifreak. It has something to do with the msr using channel 5 on the stock controller to switch between dual rates by clicking the left stick down. On the dx6i that is the gyro channel so you can set it up there.

  • @timbukII Excellent work getting that settled! Hopefully this can help others as well in the future as they move the bind and fly types from the rtf controllers to other transmitters.

  • @erkrystof You know I get the feeling that r/c is an area where things start to seem more intuitive the longer you do it or the more you know. The first time I scrolled through the menus of my DX6I I thought "Oh no, this is not going to end well" I had the same anxiety I used to get when I was trying to solve math problems that were totally beyond me. Somehow I missed the whole bit about physically flipping the switch to change the numbers on the display from 0 to 1. Thanks again, good job.

  • @timbukII That is spot on. It does get easier the more you immerse yourself in it, and intuition will grow. I had the exact same anxiety with the DX6i (my first programmable TX), which by many standards is the easiest to program, though I sure didn't think so at the time! Glad to be of service.

  • very good video dude!

  • @xxaaeerroo Thank you!

  • When I go into D/R COMBI... FM is not listed... please advise. I see rudder, eleveator, aileron,...but no FM. ??

  • @ehsanaman222 Yes, FM is only available for helicopter model types (don't know why). You can still combine all dual rates into one switch for an airplane, you just can't choose the FM switch, so pick aile, rudd, or elev switches to control all dual rates at once if you're on an airplane type. Basically, you don't lose 'combined' dual rate functionality, you just can't do it with that specific switch on an airplane. Hope that helps. (This was current with the dx6i I had, new models may change)

  • @erkrystof ...You are absolutely right! I just tried setting it on Aileron and it combined all of it into one. Thanks for the tip :-)

  • @ehsanaman222 You're quite welcome!

  • Fantastic series of videos :) You explained not only what I wanted to know, but also made it so straight forward and easy to understand that I can move forward with more confidence, without having the feeling that I’m stabbing in the dark!

  • @artketchup My pleasure, artketchup, I'm very glad it helped.

  • great work, I'm fairly new to the rc hobby and was trying to figure out what all the jargin in my tx was,...thank u so much for clearing some of this up for me, myabe my flying will improve now,....."thinking"....."hmmmm"...."uhhhhh"..."well",...maybe my flying won't improve but I can help tame down the wild style I've developed, lol, thanx again,PEEEAAACCE!!!!

  • @cafediablo30 You're quite welcome, cafediablo!

  • thank you very much. i now understand how this function works. i also admire that you know how the radio works. many of us are lost and only know how to use basic functions. Thanks again. oh, how do you increase the throw for the servos when using wing tail mix - elevons on the dx6i?

  • @boywaimea Check out the 'Travel Adj' function - aka - Travel Adjust - which dictates how far your servos travel. That combined with your dual rates are the primary options on your transmitter for adjusting servo throw.

  • after 2 months searching you explained how to set up the dx6i 4 my msr.thanks

  • @dosklown My pleasure!

  • Thank you again for your Videos you make everything seem so clear. Thanks

  • @Corinthoswarehouse That's what I'm going for, thank you! Just need to keep telling myself to slow down sometimes :)

  • Fantastic video, very well presented and easy to understand, thanks.

  • @djjaxon You're quite welcome!

  • Excellent videos ! Thanks you've saved me a lot of time !

  • @Gasoil4ever My pleasure, I'm glad it saved you time!

  • Awesome video , It helped me alot.

  • Thanks for the videos. Just getting into what expo is all about, 5* as they used to say.

  • @mattyfly4fun Quite welcome, glad they have helped you!

  • please help, i dont have the fm option in d/r combo

  • @trand95 Check out the comments below, hope that helps!

  • When i go to the d/r combi setting on my DX6i, I only get options for aile, rudd, elev and inhibited...I don't get an option for FM. My manual says there should be an option for "gear" mode not "fm". If my DX6i messed up or is there another setting I need to change?

  • @PartNinja Are you in your d/r combi menu on a helicopter model type or airplane model type?

  • @erkrystof - I am in the airplane model type. Will this only work for the helo setting?

  • @PartNinja Yes, FM is only available for helicopter model types (don't know why).

  • Nice series of videos.. thanks for putting in the effort.

  • @Phrozius Appreciated, Phrozius, always adding more in the future. I'm afraid the series may never truly end! :)

  • Your are a genus! haha ur realy good do u do shows all the time?

  • @Nickpec10 Mostly I do articles and videos on my site (link on my channel) I don't really do live shows at the moment, though sometimes I just have my live cam up while I'm putzing around. :)

  • @erkrystof

you should do them more often your very good at explaining this... could you possible do one for the mixes and how to set flaps up?

  • @Nickpec10 That can certainly be arranged, Nick! I'll try and do that one next after the brushless motor video.

  • great Video

  • Well done D/R&EXPO simple and clear!

    Thank you.

  • @peperpimenta You're very welcome!

  • Nice video! Very well done. Keep up the "dramatic pause" :-)

Do you have any idea why throttle is affected by the gyro settings. This is annoying! If i switch to a lower rate i don´t have full power on my MSR.

    thanks in advance

  • @streetspec1 Thanks, streetspec! I'm not sure exactly what you mean on your mSR issue. If you'd like to start an email dialogue, just shoot me a message here or on my site and I can get a better idea of what's happening. I think what's confusing me here is the gyro settings, are you changing those? Or do you mean the dual rates for the channels?

  • @erkrystof This is not an issue with my MSR it is more an issue with the DX6i because it happens to both of my MSR´s. Try it yourself. My setup on the Gyro is: position zero 55% - position one 97%. Now if you switch between these (pos 1 + 0) you´ll mention a lack of power on pos. 0

    greets

  • @streetspec1 Ah, okay, thanks for clearing that up. I've not tried changing the mSR gyro specifically since it's such a 'fire and forget' type of flyer, in fact, I didn't even know it supported a remote gain, neat!

As for the throttle/gyro relation itself... Not that I'm doubting you at all, just more of a double check - your throttle curve graph looks exactly the same in both positions, right? I only ask because I agree - it's really odd that gyro gain would affect throttle so adversely!

  • A question: I don't have an "FM" option under D/R SW. Is there something I need to do to activate this option?

  • @lollavid I assume you're changing D/R on a airplane model memory slot and NOT a helicopter slot? If the model memory you're changing is an airplane, you don't get the FM option (I don't know why). You can still use one Rudder, Aileron, or Elevator switch to get the same effect, though. Hope that helps!

  • That was excellent. I'm embarrassed I own the dx61 and didnt know there was an option to set DR up to all on with one switch. however I like the individual control. For my Super Chipmunk I leave the rudder on HR and the rest on low till Im ready to do some aerobatics with it.

  • Thanks, cholubaz, glad to be of service, and also glad to see a good example of why the one switch to rule them all is not always applicable based on personal taste and the craft being flown.

  • Nic vid!

    ;)

  • @kristofer091994 Thanks, kristofer!

  • are you going to do another video for dx7

  • Thanks, Gazzazh, and you bet, I am actually laying down some footage for that today! If I get on a good work vibe and my real work doesn't intervene, I may just have it up tonight or tomorrow!

  • Gazzazh, the video that covers the differences between the dx7 and dx6 d/r expo is rendering... Uploading it today, and I'll make it public once it's done processing in youtube.

  • Great and thanks for keeping me informed, Can't wait : )

I am sure its going to be as informative as all your other videos

the information you include and describe are both great for beginners and intermediate flyers such as myself... .. Looking forward to watching it :) Cheers

  • loved the dramatic pose ... great video and excellent info

  • Excellent! Well done, I knew how to work the d/r and expo, but not the 'one switch', thanks, now I know, it will make things way easier :-)

  • Excellent, glad to hear that it helped. I prefer the one switch myself, more so that I only have to use that one without having to 'feel around' for switches while flying. That really kind of scares me with helicopters. Airplanes, not so much, but flicking three different switches to change a helicopter's rates... Yikes!

  • Clarity, great info and great examples = another great instructional video.

    Keep em coming E! :)

  • Thanks optimist, always appreciated!

  • V E R Y good vid. You make it real clear and understandable. Greetz from the Netherlands .. Mark.

  • Thank you, Mark, appreciated!

  • lol at the dramatic pause.. thnx for this vid!

  • :) Thanks for the compliment! Had to throw something goofy in there, sometimes the transmitter topics get a bit heavy.
