I imagine your question was rhetorical, but I always thought she was so prolific from a distance because she was reflecting the miraculous act of divinity. Also, it was less painful to not be exposed to others, like Susan Gilbert, who would never live up to Emily's expectations. She had purist tendencies and the most pure relationship one can have is with one self.

I agree with you: I think Emily was a mystic, but some people prefer thinking she was weird.
