  • SERIOUSLY....what the HELL was Rankin-Bass THINKING with this depression-riddled Rudolph/Dumbo wannabe?

  • @redredrosesleep

Do the 13 or so episodes which were only shown locally really count? It's kinda like saying Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton didn't originally write for Metallica because they weren't in Leather Charm. You dig? It's "technically" correct but in a kind of anal-retentive way.

  • 0:58-1:02 the Roman Empire did stretch as far north as Britain, up to Scottish border. But this map doesn't illustrate that.

  • Was this based on a children's book. Somebody from another NESTOR video on You Tube which is shown in three parts posted that this story of a long-eared donkey carrying Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem is mentioned in the Bible. Is it true?

  • So f*** off Olaf. Nestor's cute, it's you and your dog who are the freaks.

  • Nestor's long ears didn't make him ugly. Strange maybe but not ugly. Speaking of ulgy Olaf, the donkey breeder the other animals on his farm had one hell of a nerve laughing at Nestor being "ugly" or a "freak." Olaf and his dog Thor were no prize beauties themselves. Olaf had such a rough, fat, pimply face, he looked like a monster from a horror movie and Thor's snout was so long and his teeth so big he looked more like a crocodile than a dog.

  • Like....Before there was matter!

  • It seems like stop motion animators in the mid to late 60's couldn't get enough of Christmas stories about a mutated abberation and how it's unique "gift" helped to save the holiday.

Come on Chaunnaka, what have you got? Adam Sandler. Well, that's sort of in keeping with the tradition of a deformed ass.

  • @NateSean This animated special was from the late 70's.

  • @67nairb Yes. That fact is clearly relevant to the comment I made.

  • @NateSean This film is just too depressing for small children and even older kids to watch. NESTOR even makes grown ups cry. Whenever I see this XMAS special I get so saddened by it that I'm on the verge of crying. I don't actually cry when watching it, I hold it in. But it's still an emotionally draining movie. NESTOR THE LONG-EARED XMAS DONKEY was produced in 1977, but it's still emotional jarring 34 later.

  • @NateSean LOL! Good one. At least Nestor's deformity was put to good use at the end of the story and he wasn't an ass anymore.

  • The animation is actually really good, it's just a dumb story!

  • @limbdarkening "A DUMB STORY?" You've got to be kidding! This was truly a beautiful, inspirational story....even if it wasn't true. Nestor, the Long-eared Christmas Donkey led Joseph to Bethlehem and carried Mary the Virgin Mother on his back while she was pregnant with child. Nestor wrapped his long ears around Mary to protect her from the sandstorm and brought her and Joseph to Bethlehem where she could give birth to Jesus

  • @limbdarkening Nestor got Mary and Joseph through and because of that he became a hero. NTL-ECD is a beautiful and inspirational holiday special, but it's a severe downer with all the tragedies Nestor experienced throughout the show's 22 minutes. Especially when his mother froze to death protecting him from the snowstorm, that was the saddest part of the show. Rankin-Bass could've made NESTOR a little less depressing and little more lighthearted.

  • @67nairb That's my problem with NESTOR it's just too depressing.

  • 1:32 look at my horse, my horse is amazing

  • lol my name ..

  • My Names Nestor...Lol

  • Oh dear gawd!

    I didn't think they'd riff a christmas cartoon, well it's unavoidable!

    LOL!!

  • it's kinda sad how they riffed this one, I liked Nestor. why couldn't they do The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, or Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July?

  • @ChannelBluesy I'm suprised he didn't riff "Rudolph's Shiny New Year" It's on the same disk, longer and far more riffable.

  • "It all happened a long, long, long, LONG time ago..."

    "Like before there was matter."

    LOL!!!

  • This is always my favorite kids christmas show. It reminds me of my pekingese puppy Cloie! aaah.

  • Where's the rest? This is only the first five minutes! I want to hear his commentary for the whole thing, or at least a majority.

  • @ExplorerDS6789 Yeah I'd like to see the rest of NESTOR too on RiffTrax. This wasn't even the opening of the show when Santa began on his journey around the world on Christmas Eve.

  • "Thanks, Mr. Nelson.."

    "You're welcome, kids.."

    "Now go outside and play.."

  • I guess I've missed Nestor during the Holidays... I once did a stop-motion film where the little clay figure, transformed into an ashtray, thus receiving my cigarette, snubbed out, in live action... Ah.. the joys of Super 8 Film! It even had Stereo.. two little magnetic strips, right on the film... Thanks, Mr. Nelson...

  • "Like before there was matter", LOL!

  • Funny thing is, half the stuff you see in Rifftrax forum is illegal.

  • no one could truly love someone with a name like that

  • suck my dickk

  • Go poop in the lettuce fields chica

  • When I was little, my parents couldn't let me watch this because I would cry through the whole thing! I just bought it on dvd :)

  • I love this movie, but that was pretty funny. XDD

    You wanna hear more, huh?

    No, I never said...

    Can't say i blame you.

  • O.k people let's get the knots out our knickers here, I <3 Nestor too but I have this Rifftrax version and it's funny. Mike Nelson has given many many deserving movies the proper verbal boot they deserve as well so support Rifftrax, have some laughs and you'll still <3 Nestor afterwards. :)

  • Still feels just a tad below the belt. There are plenty of other Christmas specials that deserve riffing more than poor Nestor here. Bad enough it's not as popular as the rest of 'em without Mike taking cheap shots at it like all those B Movies.

Plus, it's not as funny when it's just him.

  • "Poor Nestor"? You mean the animated Christmas feature that blatantly tries to cash in on the success of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer while having virtually no ties to that more-beloved Christmas feature?

P.S. Mike is funny either alone or with the other 2 from MST3K, he was the head writer for that show for its entire duration (even when Joel was the host).

  • @zyphoid666 It was a song first and, knowing Rankin/Bass, they made a special about it.

  • I'm Brian Bosworth ROFL!!!

  • haha great

  • Interesting...

  • thats mean i love nestor you meany!

  • I hope, yet doubt, that they will make the entire movie avaliable again this year free of charge, as they did last year.

  • That's mean.

  • Thats my real name, gosh

I get made fun of because of this movie

  • i love this movie although itz my first time

  • Does this count as a Gospel of Matthew's Expanded Universe?

  • Oh come on people LIKE this kind of stuff. Probably not Rifftrax fans but Hey!

  • Brian Bosworth? I would have guessed Gary Busey, myself... :)

  • lol, nestor: the hideous mutation

  • My mom used to always tell me about Nestor and his poor mother when I was little and make me cry my eyes out. Thank God Mike riffed on it; now I might be able to finally deal with my childhood...

  • I just watched this one. I'm going straight to hell and laughing all the way!

  • Very funny...This should be on dvd.Are you listening Rifftrax/Legend Films???

  • unfortunately, that would be incredibly expensive to be the rights to all these movies and release them on DVDs, and damn near impossible

  • I kind of thought so,but still,it would be nice..
