  • NEW CENSUS OUT IT IS NOW 1 IN 6 PEOPLE IN POVERTY I AM GLAD THE RECESSION ENDED 2 YEARS AGO HOW ABOUT YOU?

  • US deserves this state of being

  • Wonder why RT doesnt report on the poverty in Russia, or the exodus of about a million citizens a year to escape it. RT is pathetic anti west propaganda, thats why.

  • I'm norwegian, and in the biggest newspaper here the headlines told today of a big problem norwegian exchange students face in America. (There is no poverty in NOrway, and we have the highest standard of living anywhere here, by the way) The problem is that many of our highschool exchange students are placed in families so poor they can hardle take care of themselves, let alone exchange students used to a very much higher living standard, so the norwegian consulates and embassy get tons of calls

  • @winterstellar But I guess on the other hand that the poor american exchange students who go to Norway must be having the time of their lives, hehe.. (I know that middle class America is very much okay and not poor, but many of the ones who sign up for exchange student programs among americans, are people in dire need of cash, hehe: )

  • Comment removed

  • @winterstellar THis was a joke message. Families can agree to host an exchange student without sending one themselves, or without sending one to the same country their guest comes from. Some just act ast host families but don't have any student to send anywhere themselves. It was just a joke from me there.: )

  • @winterstellar *hardly*

  • Keep going the way your going and we and america will be living in Poverty in reality.

  • PEOPLE IT IS MUCH WORSE THAN THEIR NUMBERS,WAKE UP, AMERICA IS FALLING,GET OUT OF DEBT. HELP OTHERS.

  • @ilililhy1

Yeah i know, Some americans need some basic life skills like : learning how to save money! they should learn to live within their means.

  • recently on CBS: a couple makes 85,000 usd per year... one looses job and now there poor....the reporter asks how much did you save, the say : they dont have any savings!!! not a dollar in their savings account!!! shocking but the reality is that most Americans dont save. Everything is NOW. Asians, europeans and africans save much more.

  • @aminah487

Because the system of economics in this country teaches people that debt / deficits aren't important; that you should spend more and save less. Keynsianism is a cancer, but unfortunately it's what we've embedded into our collective consciousness.

  • @TheReapersSon

True, but that is what needs to change, children need to be talk about money in the States, sorry i am Kenyan and i save every penny i make and dont have debt . I just DONT buy something i cannot afford. Mind you, we dont even have welfare in my country, so people have no choice but to save, including the very poor. welfare needs to be eradicated, that makes people bloody lazy! and not money conscious.

  • @aminah487

Your comment is very inspirational. Thanks for your insight; It will be a pleasure to share your anecdote with my friends and associates.

  • RT= Total shit.Nobody in the west knows what poverty is.

  • @1965guitarboy Poverty respects no nationality, race or creed fool!

  • @technatezin what the fuck is that statement supposed to mean? Nothing to do with what i stated. Clown.

  • @1965guitarboy

You lie this poverty is horrible. I couldn't afford both a xbox and a playstation. I had to get only the xbox. My life is horrible.

  • @GuardianoftheSource ;-) I hope the situation improves, things sound real bad.lol

  • No one deserves this in their own country for the rich morons to get richer at innocent workers expense but their time will come they pushed the ppl way past the limit in the end they will pay for their crimes aginst americans n humanity God bless the homeless victims

  • Close all U.S military base around the world and bring our troops home. Save America by vote Ron Paul for president 2012

  • this mother fucker commenting below was talking shit about mexico

  • Also, as a firefighter/EMT, I have been to the shelters for "emergencies" from some transient or another.

When I saw all the empty beds (Houston), I asked why people choose to stay on the streets. They told me that they don't allow drugs & booze in the facility, have a curfew, & require chores to be done.

Most don't stay because of the drug & alcohol rules, but a guy had just left because he wasn't willing to mop the floor.

It is embarrassing after traveling in India and seeing real poor.

  • Are these just propaganda videos to make Russia feel better about their 3rd world existence. A country comparable to Mexico and owned by the mafia. I guess if they can convince their people that America is just as bad, they won't feel so guilty.

The problem is, this is fabricated. For anyone unsure, check online for what gov't programs poor are eligible for. Not only free housing, food stamps, welfare, etc, but multiple versions of these programs.

  • Good ol' government and their socialistic policies.

God forbid we go back to capitalism. I mean it did take us from a fledgling country to the #1 world super power.

  • @brendanmcwilliams - you obviously don't realize that unbridled capitalism is what caused this, not "socialistic policies". The lower taxes and deregulation are the direct causes of the widening divide in this country and the growing poverty levels.

  • @2011blueman

Except it isn't. No matter what you try to convince yourself of, it is foolish to claim that America rose from a new country to the most powerful country in spite of capitalism.

Like warmongering, this is just propaganda. Even with America in the toilet, it still has a higher standard of living than any other country across all social classes. Our poor are still the envy of the world.

They still have TVs, Xbox's, and cell phones, even while on welfare.

  • @brendanmcwilliams - I didn't say capitalism, I said unbridled capitalism. As in, unregulated capitalism. Basic economic principle, tragedy of the commons.

  • @2011blueman

Not in any economics book you might find in a university I fear. During our "unregulated capitalism" period, we reached the highest standard of living across the board and allowed poor and voluntarily unemployed people to have free housing, foodstamps, welfare, and free energy from gov't programs. On top of that, we gave them credit that they would never be able to pay back. Hence the mess we are in now.

  • @brendanmcwilliams - its the tragedy of the commons is taught in just about EVERY economics book you might fight in a university. Also, the period in which we reached our highest standard of living (post WWII and the Clinton years), we also had highly progressive income tax brackets and high levels of regulation. Republicans took over in late 90's deregulated everything causing the energy crisis and the housing bubble. Basic historical facts.

  • @2011blueman

    1945 -

The top tax rate is 91 percent. It will stay at least 88 percent until 1963, when it is lowered to 70 percent. During this time, America will experience the greatest economic boom it had ever known until that time.

    hyperhistory com/online_n2/connections_n2/great_depression html

  • @2011blueman

"The tragedy of the commons is a dilemma arising from the situation in which multiple individuals, acting independently and rationally consulting their own self-interest, will ultimately deplete a shared limited resource."

What limited resource are you talking about, and how does that apply to the current situation?

Is this your claimed cause for "widening divide in this country and the growing poverty levels", or are you arguing for environmentalism?

  • @brendanmcwilliams - given your responses it's clear you have no background in basic economics and this forum isn't the correct place to teach you basic economics, so go take an econ course and then I'll be happy to continue this discussion.

  • @2011blueman

I don't want to sound like a dick, but my guess is you didn't comprehend the meaning of "tragedy of commons" to mean common/shared resources, and instead, thought it involved "commoners" or some other capitalism against the downtrodden argument.

If you did indeed me the sharing of resources, god only knows how you connect that to the current economy, since the energy corporations aren't really involved. In fact, no "resource" based companies are causing the problems

  • @brendanmcwilliams - considering you just googled it and I have published peer-reviewed articles on the subject I'll again wait until you have a basic understanding of economics before continuing this conversation.

  • @2011blueman

Do you argue the definition and meaning of it. Do you have a special meaning for it that only you know *wink**wink*.

Amazing that you claim to have published "peer-reviewed" articles, yet argue Wikipedia's definition.

But this is always found with low IQ debaters on the internet. Broad claims of 200 IQs and professor of economics arguing on youtube.

In that sense, not only do I have 200 point IQ, but also created "Tragedy of Commons" theory, and wikipedia is right

  • @brendanmcwilliams - you just googled it moron. You don't even understand that it's not about the environment and you question my IQ? Again, go take a basic economics course then we can talk about the implications of the tragedy of the commons.

  • @brendanmcwilliams - while you're googling things, go google metaphor moron.

  • @2011blueman

And, unlike you, I'm not just talking out my ass. Not only have I traveled the whole world (42 countries to date, and some my youtube videos are from my travels), but I used to be a firefighter and saw the "poor" firsthand. Many had giant plasma TV's in spite of being in a dump of an apartment. Gov't pays for food, housing, medical, etc. They spend their money on B.S.

  • @brendanmcwilliams - "unlike you, I'm not just talking out my ass. ". LOL, I was thinking the same thing since you don't have any actual background or experience in economics, finance, or poverty.

  • @2011blueman

Yes, I merely traveled to tons of real poor countries and work around bums as my profession (unfortunately).

You, however, give official youtube lectures in the "comments" section.

    I concede, professor youtube.

    ;)

  • These changing winds can blow cold and hostile.....

  • @Shukria123 poetic, lol

  • Companies are refusing to hire immigrants. Did it change anything? Did it create more jobs for local fags?? a big NO. It goes to show that if a company hires immigrants, its productivity goes up, immigrants bring their families, they invest in America, it obviously going to boost demand, it leads to expansion of companies. Immigrants also create jobs by becoming Entrepreneurs.

Democratic party have a very short sighted approach unlike Republicans. Next time elect a damn Republican.

  • Clearly, there's a conspiracy to destroy democracy in the US. If you read US history, it's easy to see what caused the Depression of the 30s. Even Hoover urged employers to not cut wages of employees. Why would anyone in their right mind suggest we should lower taxes for the rich &budget cut programs to help the poor during these tough times? Americans are very disconnected from each other, lack compassion & knowledge of history. Sad, really, 'cause all this could've been prevented so easily.

  • Its interesting to read about Hoover & Depression of the 30s--very similar to Bush & reluctance to intervene to help those in need. What's disturbing now though is the propaganda that poor people somehow deserve their suffering. This is a serious character flaw many Americans have--selfishness and greed. Disturbing that even in this economy propaganda continues to tell us we should budget cut programs to help the poor, that poor people are lazy & don't want to work. Clearly, there's a conspiracy

  • Thank you for putting this video up here. A very upsetting reality in our country.

  • There is not enough good paying jobs as every one is only paying minimum wage and the cost of living and gas prices keeps rising. If we would stop out sourcing to other countries for lower operating cost, then we would have jobs.

  • @patsaxon for understaning capitalism it is useful to read our texts. icritics.blogsport.de

  • US Stocks Slump,

DJIA Posts Worst Two Days Since Nov. '08

Sept-22-2011--NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Investors staged a global flight from risk Thursday that sent the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its worst two-day point drop since November 2008, after a gloomy outlook by the Federal Reserve renewed fears of an economic slowdown.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 391.01 points, or 3.51%, to 10733.83, for a two-day loss of 5.92%. Investors barrelled out of stocks and into "safe" assets

  • All i know is that in life nothing is free in life you cant always get what you want.

  • @mranswer249 but why, did you ever ask WHY?

  • meanwhile in Russia: life is terrible

  • "Gainful unemployment" is right. Socialism in America has reached ridiculous proportions. If you want to see the unemployment issue resolved then get rid of the minimum wage. Also, get rid of the plethora of incentives for people not to work and the plethora of incentives for companies to offshore jobs. America's welfare class, erroneously labeled as "poor" or "working stiffs" is not starving, they're the fattest people in the entire world!

  • @KillKeynes

you have to be a deluded nutjob to live in a ultra capitalist banana republic and think it is somehow socialist

without the minimum wage people will have to decide between food and shelter because they wont be able to afford both

companies will still offshore jobs to countries which use slave labor and pay pennies to its workers

the working class are working poor barely getting by despite working 2 jobs and are fat because they can afford junk food but not healthy food

  • Bullshit, how about you compare the "poverty line" in the U.S. and the poverty line in, say, France. America's poor are the richest poor in the world.

  • @johammbass It's not quite so. The europeans don't have to pay for the healthcare and the household bills are lower. Also, there is more unemployment in USA then in Europe for instance, I mean the real numbers. And there sure are no tent cities here.

  • when poverty hits 1 in 5 , that when the poor will pick up guns

  • RT - Russia Times- I'd rather watch RT than Fox to get better picture of state of USA.

  • I only make 6 thousand a year

  • I have that sort of income for 2 years now, 11k. I am Dutch so might give tips :-)

I make my own breads and bmo coffee, always done that. I cook and hardly buy food outdoors. I only buy meat in the sm if it's downpriced, end of the day. I make a shoppinglist at home and stick to that in the sm. Things like instant coffee I buy for many months, prices only go up. By that I can still even safe a little. Would love to go on vacation again but watching YT travel vids is also cool: Still happy :-)

  • When is this country going to wake up and realize there is really a problem in this country... Until we stop outsourcing jobs overseas the problem will get worse.

  • why the us goverment let the big companies open american factories outside the us that is one of the reasons why the economy is bad for the lower class

  • @tinleo333

because the government is controlled by international banks and international corporations through lobbying which is essentially bribery. also mainstream media and hollywood are controlled by international banks who seek to use propaganda to preserve the capitalist slave system which primarily only benefits the ruling class.

  • @signboyy yea i already know that

  • @signboyy If you think what America has is "capitalism" you're dead wrong. If we had true free-market capitalism we'd have sound money, a small government, minimum regulation and no wealth redistribution. What we have is bankster corporatism and socialist wealth-redistribution; two wrongs don't make a right. The current dynamic benefits both the ruling class and the welfare class. The victim in all of this is the shrinking middle class, which is being attacked from both sides.

  • @KillKeynes

its hardcore capitalism which has allowed the international banks and corporations to take over the government. and if anyone in the slightest way criticizes this extreme capitalism they are called a commie.

there is nothing socialist about cutting social programs for the people in order to make more tax revenue available for war related spending which profits war related corporations and the billionaire investors which control those corporations.

  • @signboyy

You don't need to add a hardcore to capitalism to make it fuck the people. Instead you should recognize the purposes which are pursued in capitalism to explain its phenomenons

    icritics.blogsport.de

  • @iCriticsRed

the PURPOSE is to squeeze out as much wealth as possible for the ruling class and the CONSEQUENCES of this is a vanishing middle class and a working class living like dogs.

  • @signboyy have you read our text?

  • Why the hell do we need to watch "RUSSIA Today" to see how things really are in USA ?

  • @MenwithHill because the us politics do not want the peoples to see how the lower class in america is doing.

  • My family never recovered from the '94 recession. Don't understand why people don't throw molotov cocktails on the White House lawn.

  • yeah all these foreign ppl think america is a dream especially homeland security who lives in la la land , pls

  • I live in poverty. American dream? American nightmare more like. The day I took foot step into America it's been hell.

Mr owl, didn't you want me to leave.. I mean you told me to leave few years ago. This was your words..... If you don't like it so much LEAVE!

  • @marvelous211 You know I've been a good kid all my life maybe I shouldn't be. It sucks being the nice guy. Everyone tries to run all over me!

  • 11000 dollars and below poverty line?? this must be a joke!

  • Thanks to FOX NEWS, GOP, and the jealous of the middle class working poor, the republicans will finish america off!

  • Obama is has sold out the poor...

  • Small businesses is nearly almost non existent, Big business on the other hand runs everything nearly pretty much, another reason for poverty is because most working class citizens in the U.S. cannot afford to run their own business.

But the big giants are the leaders in the industry.

  • After 34yrs of working I feel lucky to have a meager pension. I'll be a sorry assed broke Mofo but it'll be better than the major number of folks that make half as much and have nothing to look foward to when they pull out of the work force. OMFG! We all gonna be livin' a fugly life soon anyway. Prep up and learn how the pioneers made do from day to day or get some coins for your eyes when ya take that dirt nap.

  • @coal4life

I hope things get better for you, please know you are not alone.

  • TIME TO STOP FUNDING US CIA TERRORRISTS

  • POVERTY IS A MEANS OF KEEPING THE OLIGARCHS FILTHY RICH. THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MILLIONS OR BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN WEALTH COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT THE POVERTY STRICKEN AND OVERTAXED PEOPLE. SOME CROOKED PEOPLE MAKE (STEAL) BILLIONS BY GAINING MONOPLY STATUS, BUYING A POLITICIAN HERE OR THERE, GETTING CROOKED LAWS PASSED AND OTHERWISE ROBBING THE PEOPLE. IT IS BECOMMING NEARLY AS SHAMEFUL AS IN THE ARAM/MUSLIM KING/DICTATORIAL OLIGARGH OWNED COUNTRIES. THERE ONLY A THOUSAND OR SO ELITE OWN A COUNTRY

  • @veniceit1 type on google. The White Genocide Evidence Project

  • @veniceit1

Why there is enough food, notwithstandg there are people dying owing to hunger and the explanation of other phenomenons of poverty

    READ: iCritics.blogsport.de

  • @veniceit1

Neither the jews, nor the investment banks, nor the managers, nor anyone else, is the problem, CAPITALISM ist the problem. If you want to understand , what the problem is:

    iCritics.blogsport.de

  • @veniceit1 Sad, but solidly true. It's an assrape form the rich and powerful.

  • At least the wealthy will have a merry Christmas this year. At the rate things are going, for many years to come.

  • Take that amount and deduct $1,200. off the top of this for car insurance and that is a good rate many more pay much more than that per year.Water/sewer ~$540 ,$240 garbage,~$1,500 electricity, That is around $3,500 just on those expenses that cost you average about $9.58 a day just for that stuff that you are going to have to pay no matter what. All these little expenses add up. Things folks never consider when they say screw you I getting my own place.

  • it was so important for you to fight all social improvements. now you have 43 million people being ready to take away your wealth with sticks and torches. just wait until they are 100 mio. (ca. 2012-2013) than you will have a civil war you'd never unsterstand.

The reason for this is simple: You are egomaniacs. You don't want other people to live. You don't want to pay for the community. You're rationalizing daily to cut even more jobs. Your country is going to be in the 3rd world soon.

  • Sounds like Americans should start learning from the illegals mehican immigrants on how to run across borders, picking fruits and vegies, doing hard labor jobs etc..

    The time is coming.

  • Considering MANY "poor" in this country still have cars and LCD televisions I always have a hard time believing this data. Nonetheless, it is very bad news.

  • @mtb416 Lol. Most of those 'luxuries" were borrowed from loans and credit cards.

  • @thegreendestiny Not my stuff, but perhaps yours.

  • I want to have my own news show so I can get guests on that all see the world the way I do. I'd never have someone on who saw anything differently than I do unless they were inarticulate. Or I'd have 3 people on who agree w/ me and just one dimwit who doesn't. That way my watchers would come to believe that everyone who thinks differently than me is an idiot and in the fringe.

Folks, don't watch a show that just has one "expert" on. There is always more than one way to see things.

  • @deezynar Or watch more than one show.

  • @Kaligulasucks

That's good advice, but most do it the same way & have the same bias. Journalists are biased like everyone else. The difference is that they refuse to admit it or tell you what their view is. Bias isn't just an opinion on some topic, it's how you believe the world works and how you wish it did. I'd like to see a bubble at the bottom of the screen that shows each reporters' personal philosophy. You can't cover a car accident w/out your worldview slanting the story.

    Cheers

  • 11 thousand barely covers food and rent

the povery line is to low to begin with, it needs to be doubled.

  • @signboyy Absolutely, the real poverty line is about 24,000 for a single person and 40,000 for a family. ive lived on disability for 3 years and i get about 10,000 a yr and its not even half of what i need for rent, food, and the most important part....to access the resources required to move myself up the economic ladder so i can get off it!! social assistance is just enough to keep people alive and trapped in the system

  • @TheBrradsullivan Oh fer sure! What the hell does 24 grand a year get ya!? Nothing.

  • @chefshitpiece thats right, it just keeps people in the cycle of poverty and burdens everyone else who has to pay for them

  • This current economic crisis proves Marx as being right. Fewer employees, increased production is where the profit from the companies are coming from Why should they hire? Just work the people to death and then drag in another hungry citizen to take the place of the dead. Just like the pharoah did when he built the pyramid. It also should put to lie the claim that tax cuts for the rich creates jobs.

  • @666brainiac surprised no one chimed in with "the markets just aren't free enough".

  • @seekatruth what in the hell are you talking about? POVERTY for most Americans IS a REALITY!!! wake the fuck up!

  • For some reason, the Russia haters aren't commenting on this video. Lol

  • the fall of the republic = nwo plan

  • Truth About America's Disappearing Middle Class ...Conversely, job opportunities are declining in both middle skill, white collar clerical, administrative, and sales occupations and in middle-skill, blue-collar production, craft, and operative occupations.

  • GOOD P eople need to wake up and see whats going on in our world

  • and ironically everyone on welfare have brand new cars and iphones!

    go figure!

  • @HerrSpieldose Yeah everyone. Can you back that up?

  • @jimbobanalbeats well "everyone" is an exaggeration I admit but my neighbors are all living high off the hog on SSI and Welfare (I am a student, need cheaper rent) and they have free priuses with Obama stickers and all sit on their porches all day yelling in their cell phones... and where I live on the 1st of the month there is a traffic jam of Obama bumper stickers and new cars...

sounds like good enough to me.

  • @HerrSpieldose They have FREE priuses? Ok, you are full of shit. A good friend of mine is a social worker in california and that is not how the system works. You are making things up.

  • Just as with unemployment, the US government's figures on poverty are notorious for downplaying the problem. It would probably not be far fetched to say that poverty rates in America are in reality double what the government actually says they are.

  • RIP America your finish! Bye bye American pie lol.

  • When we listen to this report, we should probably put things into perspective. If you're saying that $11,000 per individual per year is poor. Take a look at the poor of other countries. This level of poor in the United States barely even qualifies. For the most part, the US has eradicated poverty. The reason for that is capitalism, not government or government entitlements.

  • I though we live iin a capitalist country. The government dont give a shit about us homie

  • @someonex011 Are you being ironic or do you really believe that a capitalist foster benevolence?

  • @Nades129 capitalist is all about making money and being rich. Capitalist country dont care about its people.

  • @someonex011 there is no entity called "capitalist country" .. f the people were educated and unplugged from the system then we could talk about a new type of economy

  • @someonex011

    nickel for a clue?

  • @eastsider4eva No, since about 1985

  • Should we be surprised that many are living at or below the poverty line? Think about it...too big to fail corporations are able to ask the U.S. government along with the participation of the Federal Reserve (private banking system) for bail outs in the trillions - The U.S. has erected a pyramid scheme - off the backs of millions, the top thrives and live in incredible luxury. Obama is continuing the program of those who came before him. We're all feeling the greed from the top.

  • all for scare. bullshit report

  • @SilentSnipershot Yep, those figures don't show poverty. Poverty is in the 3rd world. This amount of money (22k) is in the richest top 20% in the world.

  • @marcelthemaoist Im not sure if that was sarcastic or not and im not saying America isnt poor in lots of spots, but what I am saying is news reporters get paid by views on articles and broadcasts on subjects. The more, the merrier for the them the bigger dick head they can be. The more they get paid? What great supervision we have on them.

  • @SilentSnipershot No, I am serious. I am not saying there is no oppression in the 1st world but compared to 3rd world workers it's a joke. In the third world people work 10-16 hrs per day and still make less than ameriKKKan "unemployed". What I am getting at is ameriKKKa is a vampire of the world.

  • @marcelthemaoist And that's exactly what is scary. What if one day the U.S. gets that bad; poverty as in a 3rd world country??

  • @icky8vicky We can only hope that will happen soon.

  • @marcelthemaoist you forgot to scale up or down for MONETARY VALUE and the COST OF GOODS in said countries.

  • @macks7241 Sorry, but cost of living is actually HIGHER in most 3rd world countries, so you fail, hard.

  • @marcelthemaoist What third world countries is it higher? When I was in the navy i ended up a quite a few of them. They are dirt cheap. Name ONE third world country that is more expensive then the US.

  • @jimbobanalbeats Price data shows that the cost of living in Seoul--the largest city of southern Korea with 10 million people --is 24 percent higher than that in New York City. The difference is not affected by the dollar's exchange rate, because the Korean currency is more or less fixed by the government in proportion to the U.S. dollar.

  • @jimbobanalbeats Other cities that are more expensive than New York to live in but with lower wages include Brazzaville, Congo; Taipei,China; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Singapore; Douala, Cameroon; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Nairobi, Kenya; Dakar, Senegal; Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania; Amman, Jordan; Jakarta, Indonesia; Cairo, Egypt and Montevideo, Uruguay. Tied with New York in cost of living are Bangkok, Thailand and Lima, Peru.

  • @marcelthemaoist You are basically saying with your argument that the biggest cities are representative of the national standard of living. New York city is hardly representative of the rest of the United States, it's one of the most expensive cities in the world. I've been to Bangkok, and you can live there for a couple hundred dollars a month, quite comfortably. Urban areas should not be the example used when measuring the overall standard of living of any country. I would love a link.

  • @jimbobanalbeats "

"Bangkok, and you can live there for a couple hundred dollars a month" you could "live" almost anywhere with that much.

Urban areas should not be the example used when measuring the overall standard of living of any country"

Majority of people live in urban centers.

    "I would love a link. "

You can't post links in comments, use google.

  • @marcelthemaoist The majority of people don't live in the most expensive cities in the world. Sorry. It's not representative. And Bangkok is still dirt cheap.

  • @jimbobanalbeats Majority of people live in cities in the first world, at least and most working class people live in cities in the 3rd world. Most in the countryside own small plots of land. You see, you simply don't know what you are talking about. If you make 250 per month your are in the richest %14 of the world. The majority of the worlds poor is WAY below that. Try $2 per day. ameriKKKans aren't suffering, yet. But I hope they do.

  • @marcelthemaoist Marx had some good criticisms, but like most leftist ideals they only stand against something, not on their own, and therefore do not provide any viable alternatives. I can a future, far from now, where capitalism would be a crux, not a boon, but that time is not now. We are nowhere near a true collective. I have family that has lived in several different countries, all third world, and when capitalism makes its way there they see higher wages and better standards of living.

  • @mtb416 This is not at all a dispute of anything I have said, just a general statement of your opinion which proves nothing and puts forward no argument.

I am in favour of capitalism in the 3rd world, I never said I am against national bourgeoisie of oppressed nations at this time. I am against imperialism. The fact you failed to grasp this shows why you have no argument that can hold water against what Is aid here.

  • @marcelthemaoist I'm not sure why you would wish ill upon those of the common working man and woman just to get at the "bourgeois." It's all about standards of living to wage ratios, so your juxtapositions are not only false, but outright lies.

  • @mtb416 In what way was what I said false or outright lies? You can't dispute what is aid so you use ad hoinems.

  • @marcelthemaoist I'm not attacking your person, though I guess you could construe my words as calling you a liar.

"I am in favour of capitalism in the 3rd world" - You have some unbelievably conflicting thoughts. Nvm.

  • @mtb416 Capitalism in the 3rdw orld doesn't conflict with national liberation struggle and anti-imperialism at all. I am against imperialism, I have no problem with national bourgeois were people have their own capitalists, not foreign compradors. I have no problem with state nationalizations and market economies either, in the 3rd world. It's called the right to self de3termination. You might actually want to read Marxists scholars instead of just pretending to know something.

  • @marcelthemaoist You might want to stop assuming you're the only one who has picked up a book. There is an unbelievable amount of foreign investment in America too you know. Third-world refers to trade/political relations anyways.

  • @mtb416 I don't assume you don't read, I assume your are intelligent. Just doesn't sound like you have read any Marxism-Leninism.

  • @marcelthemaoist And marcel, you're drinking right now, aren't ya?

  • "You could "live" almost anywhere with that much"

You're using semantics now, and that doesn't change the fact that Bangkok, and I'm assuming quite a few of those other cities in third world countries you mentioned, is very cheap to live quite comfortably in. For the price of a shit hole apartment in New York city you could rent a very nice house in Bangkok. Whatever article you were quoting is basing it's information off some skewed statistics.

  • @jimbobanalbeats "You're using semantics now"

    So are you.

"For the price of a shit hole apartment in New York city you could rent a very nice house in Bangkok."

    Sounds like semantics to me.

I have provided stats, you have none.

  • @marcelthemaoist No, you havn't provided anything. I'm not using semantics. If I were to give you the definition of the word, THAT would be semantics. I'm using direct personal experience as opposed to some skewed statistics that you won't even provide a link for. (there is a messaging system. dude.) A shit hole apartment in new york is around a grand a month. You can rent a house in bangkok for that money, easily. I have an idea. Use google and do some real estate research.

  • @jimbobanalbeats You keep using the example of one city, I gave several examples and housing is not a total representation of cost of living, you need to take into account other things such as food which is often more costly in the 3rd world. Again I provided stats and you can find these things with a search.

  • @jimbobanalbeats Only 12 cities out of 125 surveyed have costs of living less than 80 percent of that in New York. Bombay and New Delhi, India are the most important of these, ranking in at 76 percent of New York City costs. Another three cities in that category are from Canada, which is an indication that the difference in costs of living internationally is not radical.

  • This should be good news for our dear republican corporatists. No money was wasted on those who don't earn it. Everything is working out nicely.

  • We deserve everything that happens. We voted for Bush/Obama and got caught up in the mortgage and credit card abuse by living beyond our means to keep up with the Jones's buying stuff we couldn't afford so now it bites us in the rear. Suck it up people it's about to get a lot worse.
