  • from the pittsburgh post:

fans from across the region poured into Downtown Pittsburgh on Friday for a fitting tribute to Myron Cope, who died Wednesday of respiratory failure at the age of 79.

Urged on by Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and surprise guest Dan Rooney, owner of the Steelers, fans waved their Terrible Towels to honor the man whose 35-year career as a broadcaster and personality elevated him to icon.

  • Sure is a sad day in Pittsburgh. My daughter got to meet him in October. He smoked a cigarette with her at a Steeler autograph signing. She didn't know to much about him. She said he was very nice, and they had a nice talk. She said when he went inside, he yelled for someone to get his f'in coat, and her jaw dropped. We all laughed hearing that one, because we knew more about him, then the younger generation.

  • What a sad day indeed for Pittsburgh :-(

Rest in Peace, Myron. You will always live on in our memories. Thank you for being YOU.

  • Triple Yoi to Myron!

Rest in peace Myron. We'll wave that Terrible Towel for you.
