I had already shot it actually, Only about 30 rounds but it seems perfectly fine for a 9mm carbine (Im a larger fan of .30cal stuff). I think I will be useing it as a varmit gun and possibly home defence with a little more range time. It does seem estremely consistant with its shot placement.
These rifles are great for the money, but IMHO if I had to pay $250 for one, I would go for a nice SKS. But they are out there CHEAP and I already have an SKS so Im happy with it
@boulevardtalonman Yeah, I have an SKS too. I got one of these and put the nicer stock on it as sort of a close-quarters/indoor home defense or building clearing weapon. Hard to get a full sized rifle to bear very fast in a tight hallway or in a door. The Hi-Point fills that role nicely while the bigger babies get brought out for the serious business where there's room.
No, the gun is great. If it cost $200 more people would feel like it's better just b/c it costs more. They're cheap enough, go buy one and decide for yourself.
@daveliontamer Yeah, I was looking into them, the also changed the design in the TS model and that makes it's harder to put a ATI stock on. The TS version is now the only one sold it is said to be more solid but it still doesn't look near as nice as the ATI stock.
@Mrcaffinebean Just checked it out. The stock looks better than the old factory stock though. We are going shooting today (we do every Thanksgiving, but this year it rained all day....so making up for it today). Might have more videos to post up.
@Mark48152 I have no video yet, but at 100 yards free standing with my 9mm carbine and a red dot, I can consistantly shoot about a 4-6 inch grouping. bare in mind, I am free standing and not that steady of a shooter. The 9mm in the carbine travels relatively flat at this distance also. I use it during deer season.
wait a min how did u find all those mods for this gun i have the same one in .40 cal i bought it kinda just to plink with & threw a red dot on it but what else did u put on urs and where did u find the stuff?
@arkangel8419 hey i used to have a hi point 9mm the barrel rusted in our safe we through it away and you can buy the mods at there website and the bi pod at wallmart.com
@daveliontamer where I live, near Jackson MS, the older version of the hi-point carbine like the one in video goes for $225-$235. The new version, which comes with a different stock, goes for $245-$280.
Not necessarily true- a carbine has a longer barrel. This gives the powder charge more time to burn, which means that there is more gas to expand behind the bullet, which equals more velocity. And since force=mass x velocity, a bullet of the same weight and powder charge WILL hit harder from a carbine than from a pistol.
Unless, of course, you wanna be a dumbfuck and ignore things like elementary physics.
I have the Hi point 4095 in 40 caliber. It is a sweet carbine. The only issue I see now is that there are no stocks available for it other than the factory Hi point. one.. hope that helps.
if you're gonna go with a 9 mm go with a pistol or sub-machine gun. This is clearly niether. I just don' see why there is such a market for a 9 mm carbine.
the problem's with a nice submachine gun are...availability, price, and the despicable gun laws marking them illegal in many states.
I would a nice MP5...but for now my inexpensive and legal in most states Hi Point 995 carbine will work well for a 9mm rifle. It's too bad they are limited to 10 rounds magazines.
I assume you're talking about the promag; it is an utter piece of shit when you buy it, I kid you not. I had a double feed the first time I pulled back the bolt. The problem is that the lips on the mag aren't bent far enough inward, so when you let out one round, another follows. A simple bend inward with a pair of pliers makes it a very effective magazine.
the newer promag 15 rounds are a bit better...but they won't fit on the newer version of the 995 carbines, the TS...won't funtion with the bolt hold open after the mag is empty. so promag has some work to do, again.
Is that so? I have an older one with the ATI stock, and as long as you take off the extra piece of aesthetic plastic (or file it down to fit the stock) it works fine in my 995. Unless Hi-Point changed the bolt's design, I don't see why it wouldn't work on it; the new ones just have a new stock, right?
the Hi Point 9mm rifle is far cheaper and much eaiser to obtain than any submachine gun. Hits harder than a 9mm pistol, and is inherently more accurate.
Kinda like a .22 rifle, fun and relatively inexpensive shoot but with more oompf.
If a company like beretta or colt came out with the exact carbine that hi point is selling., People would give it rave reveiws and pay 2 to 3 times as much for it.
The GSG5 is a relly cool loking .22. It's the next gun on my list. Lately I've just been enjoying my Walther p22. I've also been shooting on of those cheap Marlin .22's (I've been shooting clay pigeons out of the air with it). I'll get it on video next time.
I bought mine brand new at Dunham's Sporting Goods for $179.00, I had just missed the sale for $159.00, bummer. I did pay an extra $60 for the Ati stock, which made it look pretty sharp, and it was really easy to swap out. It's extremely dependable, I shoot reloaded ammo and it has never jammed or missfired. Definately can't beat the price, and it's made in Ohio, which to me is nice to buy something made in America.
If you're calling the Hi-Point a turd because it doesn't cost much seems pretty dumb. It's extremely accurate, they have excellent customer service and I've had no problems with the gun at all. If you want I'll sell it to you for $600 so you'll think you've got something better.
I agree. I have been shooting my 9mm carbine for about 4 years now and every time I take it to the range and shoot tiny little groupings with it, people are always asking if it's a Beretta CX4 or something. I love telling them that it's just a good ol' Ohio-made Hi-Point!!! Damn thing is incrdedibly cheap...incredibly accurate...and incredibly fun to shoot!!! I put the ATI stock on it and it took about 30 mins total.
you can pick one up for pretty cheap man their only like 350 or so. I just bought one a few months ago. alot of fun and cheap to shoot. I picked up a red dot sight with a laser attached to it.. Your not going to reach out very far with this gun but for close range its a blast to shoot.
Hi-Points are great firearms and come with a lifetime warrenty - Last month I sent one of my carbines in for repair due to a damaged magazine catch - They returned it 3 weeks later BRAND NEW! They replaced everything, gave me the owners manual and all accessories that came with it when you buy it brand new. And to top it off, they gave me an extra magazine - Thank you, Hi-point!
I don't know about the hi-point handguns, but I just fired my 995 carbine for the first time today - I put 200 rounds through it and didn't have a single jam - It is a great firearm for the $189.00 I spent - No regrets.
ive noticed that. maybe his ex girlfriends new boyfriend shot one at him once or something, idk. but he has posted that shit on every video ive seen so far.
Yeah I got one of those --- Kind of junky -- Fun To Shoot though! --- I get a kick out of the dirty looks the old farts up at the gun club give this carbine --- Then when I offer to let them shoot it they all say yeah and when all done they all have a dopey smile on there face cuz they know its fun too....
saw one a few months ago and figured something this ugly and wicked looking needed a try (non-ATI stock). Hasn't disappointed me at all -- no jams and shoots right where you want to after adjusting the sights. Gotta try the pistol next.
i got the 380 and am going to give it to the misses. it fires wonderfully. went through 4 boxes with not a single jam. doesnt even feel sluggish. careful with hollow points though. doesnt like em too well.
Cmon stressedoutatumc.... a good whore can be alot of fun sometimes. I own real expensive guns but still love shootin my whored up Hi-Point. get yourself a whore and have fun!!
I think this is my favorite video of the Hi-Point 995. I love the ATI stock, but I do not care for the compensator. you want to shoot a pretty cool gun thats cheap as fuck try a gsg 5 my friend just bought one for around 450 its a german made gun just like the mp 5 except its fires 22,s instead of the 9mm
I finally ordered the ATI stock, ATI butt-pad (name cracks me up still) and a bipod. It's not the same as your bipod for it's a barrel mounted style, but I'm sure I'll like it at the range. And I've already got a Hi-Point compensator as well. Should have it up and running in a week or two. Then I'll be sporting a new video myself...
