did you warn him you hadnt installed it with any sort of paste grease or pad on the processor, it will be lucky to survive a few months before burning out. do it again with some cheap paste at least.
you should know this computer is probably no longer with you because the cpu probably overheated and died you always put new thermal grease/compound on after removing a heatsink even if you aren't changing out the processor.
