  • Rubens Barrichello has signed for 2012!!!!!!

  • @SolsburyHill22 With Williams again? They should be better next year since they're getting the Renault engine back

  • never knew jordan used a 7speed box in 95

  • @dukeofstradone 7 speed semi-autos were in use as early as '89 (with Ferrari)

  • @blainyrules Yes, but in 1995 Jordan was the only team to use 7 speed box, as Derek Daly says

  • 0:44 americans failing at pronunciation, what the fuck is a pujho?

  • Amazing clip from an amazing time in the sport....what has f1 done to it? I wish they'd throw out all the tech crap they race today and went back to this

  • Looking right now at this circuit, wich I see from my appartement building... And it's covered in snow, little early this year

  • Rubens Barrichello all time racer

  • the old chicane, reminding us of the dangers of formula 1 of past decades

  • I started watching F1 1993 when Barrichello was Rookie....now I still watch it and Barrichello is still around.

He deserves the record for most starts!

  • ayrton senna + rubens barrichello = brazilian legends! dont forget felipe massa

  • derek daly is suck a fuckin tool

  • I don't remember the chicane at 0:16-0:18 ever being in Montreal...Am I right in thinking it's now just a straight?

  • @GeriatricFan1963

It was there in 1994 and 1995 in an effort to slow down the cars some after the black year in 1994 that saw the deaths of Ratzenberger and Senna, as well as Wendlinger's crash that left him in a coma (thankfully he survived). In 1996 when safty regulations were improved sufficiently, They removed the temporary chicane after the hairpin and is a long straight to the last chicane and finish line.

  • @GeriatricFan1963 Yes - and so is the following left-right. The reason why that first chicane was added was basically Ayrton Senna - only for 1994-95. Many other tracks followed suit, adding small - big chicanes or changing a certain corner(s).

Most of these changes were extinguished soon after though.

  • the ultimate driver of brilhant era of f1....Senna, Prost, Hill, Alesi,Patrese, Berger, Schumacher, Hakkinem and much others...when Rubens leave f1.....a little history too are missed..

  • You speak English?

  • Barrichello is a legend!

    16 years of F1!

  • and just maybe a championship this year....

    GO FOR IT RUBINHO!

  • Barrichelo!!!! é 100!!!!!!

  • eita nois hein Rubinho...bons tempos de Jordan hein...

  • Nice to see some onboard footage of Barrichello from his Jordan days.

You can really see how much harder he's having to work the steering wheel, compared to the cars of today. Great Footage :)

  • I think he finished second in that race...:)

  • He did indeed, one of the few races that year when that Jordan didn't break down.

  • Some of it is deception!

Today they use onboard cameras with anti-shake function that make even the most harsh, bumby ride seem smooth and relaxing!

They should go back the older style cameras!!!

Here we have a much better feel of the ride than today!

The sound on the onboard shots is another thing they could very easily make better!

They have filters that decides how the engine sound should come out, and that could be done a lot better!

  • The Peugeot V10 sounds incredible.

  • And that man is still in F1 and fights for WC! Amazing Rubinho!

  • de que equipe de futebor esse yanque ta falano ????

  • Da seleção Brasileira de Futebol.

He is talking about the Brasilian Soccer Team

  • i reckon everyone should have the ITV commentary

just gives a good exciting environment.

  • I agree with the ITV commentary thing. But just imagine Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson & Richard Hammond doing the commentary with James May doing the reports from the pits, it might be funny and entertaining but still James Allen & Martin Brundle are good.

  • hey i couldn't agree more mate..

how's about bringing murray walker back aye?

along with that team you've just mentioned..

imagine the sports' fanbase increasing tenfold

  • In this case, unfortunately, had we had BBC commentary with Murray and Dr. Palmer, we would not have this clip. The feed used on the BBC's broadcast cut out of this onboard right when the shot in that box cut to Schumacher.

  • At 0:49, Listen carefully to the Peugeot V10 engine.

  • barrichelo for ever in f1

  • To be fair though, if anybody had a shunt on the old Casino bend it would have been a biggie, so they needed that silly chicane at the time.

I have an affection for that ESPN/espn2 with Varsha or Watson and Derek Bell (Daly is an idiot), it's just how you got F1 back then. Speedvision was and is in about 12 homes nationwide, never got why F1 went there, it just made it inaccessible to millions.

  • ESPN sucked! I watched first four races of 1994 with their coverage & it just made them dull & horrifying to watch/listen.

Typical north-american commentating style, but even worse were pre-race talkabouts or commercial brakes, which made a HUGE gaps! T_T

God, thank you for Murray Walker or Ben Edwards of Britian!

  • martin and james are better

  • sorry but james allen is shit! murray walker or ben edwards!!

  • I would argue if James Allen is as good as you say, but Brundle is the man. Initially, I was neutral towards him, but now i start to enjoy his colorful & original style of commentating. Much better & pleasant than Bob Varsha. ;/

BBC should take him for 09.

  • not a bad lap...

  • Although it's great they fixed that chicane into the huge backstraight, the rest of the chicanes sans the last one are probably the best chicanes on the F1 circuit.

  • That 1995 "Senna Chicane" was horrible.

  • I agree!

They totally paniced and also destroyed Eau-Rouge that year, because they felt they just had to do "something"!

And destroying Imola for ever too, was not the right way of honouring Senna!!!

  • The end result of this race for Barrichello was a 2nd place finish behind first time winner Jean Alesi (this was his only win). Teammate (to Barrichello) Eddie Irvine rounded out the podium.

  • Great race and results. Would have been a horrid shame if Alesi never got this race win, it was his only one.

  • i think that one of those people talking are a champ car commentator

  • Beautiful!

  • I think they took that chicane out before the following years race as well as that right-left-right turns that followed it, just making it a straight run to the final chicane. I agree that it was a silly chicane because it was narrow on entry and fairly pointless.

  • different track as nowdays

  • he was a nice driver in the v10 era

  • still is

  • Who was that commentating with Derek Daly?

    Bob Varsha, maybe?

  • Yeah it's Bob Varsha.

  • The chicane was put there to lower the speed of the car and to make F1 more safe after deaths of Senna and Ratzenberger, I think, but that V10 Peuguot sounds terrific.

  • great video. an i agree, that chicane is horrible

  • im glad they've removed that chicane now, not a bad lap!

  • Great sound of the Peugeot engine.

I can't remember the chicane on the back straight.

  • fucking commercials... fuck ESPN and oh yeah, shit video too =:)

  • What an engine noise.
