Ok, you don't get the point. The two points of view that said the same thing are because one reader might not get emotional about Jane's point of view, but does get emotional about Michael's point of view. Also, the writers might have written the two points of view that said the same thing because the reader might have needed to go do something after they were done reading chapter six, then later, when the reader came back, they would know what exactly was happening.
