Of the animes that i recognise, Ichigo is the only character i would describe as a hero.

Sure all the other characters were amazing (with Lucy being my favourite).

Light was not a hero, he was a God.

L was not a hero, he was a detective.

Alucard was not a hero, he simply did what he had to to protect himself.

Sasuke was not a hero, he is just out for revenge.

Sebastian was not a hero, he was only fulfilling his contract.

Lucy was not a hero, just a poor girl with a conflicted split personality.

@StrikerSL9 A hero isn't a hero because of their morals but because of the path they've chosen it may not always be the path of good but then again what's the difference in good and evil no matter how you look at it someone will always get hurt due to your actions there is no way to avoid it

The distinction between right and wrong is often subjective, but there are a few moral decisions that can be almost objectively evil. Like murdering your only friend's parent and sister in cold blood (Lucy) or slaughtering dozens of innocent police officers who are fleeing from you for their lives (Alucard) or backstabbing your only allies (Sasuke).

@StrikerSL9 I've seen two of the three anime (Elfen Lied and Naruto) and Where as I can't vouch for Lucy it was Konoha that stabbed Itachi in the back first Itachi attacked his clan under orders from the heads of the village then allowed Sasuke to live in hopes of redemption this is later revealed to Sasuke and he decides to take Justice into his own hands

Now most people assume great implies good but great can just mean widely known or something beyond a normal persons means to accomplish. So basically sasuke lucy and alucard all qualify as heroes just dark ones... besides alucard saves the world from evil Nazi vampires... i think if nothing else the Jews consider him a good guy.

Itachi killed them but was unable to bring himself to kill sasuke for two reasons. one being that he loved sasuke more than anyone else and the other being that sasuke had no part in the coup' since he was so young. However the only reasons the uchiha were planning the coup' was because the elders had descriminated against them for madaras actions.
