I was so happy to find these uploaded, thank you so much!! It's really a tragedy that "Long Ago and Far Away" has never been released on DvD or even cassette... I've loved these tales all my life. I've actually had the theme music of this particular story stuck in my head for many years - I've hummed it over and over again, and never been able to figure out where I got it until now. I don't suppose you have "The Beauty and The Beast" episode, do you? Thank you so much again for uploading these!

What a strange story. Is there supposed to be a moral to this story? It almost dictates making a deal with the devil, but it's not - the boy stole the poor couple's food, and a supposedly evil devil would not punish his son for doing such a deed). As well, the other workers who chop down the forest, plow the fields, and thresh the grains didn't do anything to deserve their not getting work. The boy abused the economy by making a monopoly with his skills and cornering the market. The moral?
@Puggalug The moral is responsibility. To act and be responsible for your deeds. Look at todays rich ppl and their kids, they think they own the World. If you take something or receive something you have to give some back. One can't expect only to take.
In this story, who exactly was not acting responsible? Was it the other loggers, who had no trees to cut down because Pinko cut them all down? Was it the other farmers? Or was it the king, for not carefully constructing his wording for what a "sack" means? Or was it Pinko not acting responsibly? Because it's not Pinko's fault that he had super powers. It just seems like everyone else but the old couple is being punished.
I don't want your pity; I want an intelligent response as to what exactly you mean when you say that the moral is responsibility. Who in this story is acting irresponsible, and are the responsible people being punished?
I love this and Janko Raven so much! and The Hedgehog! I used to tell that story to kids when i babysat as a teenager :)
it's wonderful to see some of these old films again. Long Ago & Far Away was my favorite show. my parents taped every episode, but threw out all my old VHS tapes when i moved away to college.
God I am surprised anyone remember this show, I loved the stories that James Earl Jones would tell. He fit the part of the host so well, his voice is just phenonemal espically when he narrates and the composure was like that of a quiet yet intriuging grandparent that you would sit next too and listen to all night.
My favorite episodes are Rarg(?), Frog and Toad, The Wind in the Willows, The Pied Piper...ah hell, they're all good. Why do they not make this show anymore, or at least release it on DVD? I want my kids to see this someday.
They still working on new and new episodes and I have a lot on DVD but maybe because I'm Hungarian. Still, they don't make the new ones in Hungarian language.
i loved this show when i was a kid!!!!! For whatever reason i was just thinking of it and wanted to see what i would find, if anything if i typed it in....thanks sooooo much for posting this:)
Kids got lazier and stupider, and now no longer care about anything that isn't anime. Naturally, adults aren't too interested in education for the next generation (except for pbs, which may soon collapse) because there's no money in it. As a result, illiteracy is rising rapidly, and poor spelling and grammar are naturally becoming more prevalent.
Haha...this was the most funny episode of Long Ago and Far Away...truly enjoyed it. Thanks for the upload.
