To answer one of the commenters - they use ceremonial SKS rifles with nickel-plated metal parts and bayonet, with stock made of valuable wood and laquered. In addition, the ceremonial role of the SKS is underscored with the fact that it is no longer used in a combat capacity.
Their fathers have been guys that have been trained to kick ass all their lives...the trait carries on, each time intensifying and this is the result!
@Bilbo2233 i respect what youve done for our country, but as a military historian i must say tht the Russian marching techniques and manual of arms are HARD, ive been trying with my SKS for MONTHS trying to get it perfected, the US manal of arms i hat it down in 5 minutes.

@Jackofalltrades16 It's the center if the big city, near one of the greatest tourist destinations. Compared to the circus tourists make of British Queen Guards, it's a church.
Nowhere near as impressive as the Americans. The way these guys hold their rifles looks very stupid. They looked like idiots going up the stairs. When they do their little goose stepping they are not in sync, and their legs all go up to different heights making their walk look stupid. It looks more like dancing and less like marching.
The Americans move smooth, their movements are well timed, precise, smart and sharp. There is no comparison here.

im going to say the old guard are more professional. not turning down the russians, just that the U.S Armys Old Guard look way more decent and dicepline. These guards are abit sloppy
@shinydiscoballz1 dude the russians are just as precise in every way possible it looks 'sloppy' to you because your not used to the russians marching stance.

Those high steps are not dignified. Other than that: Awesome. And I agree with many others here that there should be silence during the ceremony...

Slow down the movements and modify the marching, and it would be on par w/ the Old Guard.

Better than the Americans in my opinion...
I know the Canadian/British use the Lee Enfeild.
I'm pretty sure the US use the M1 Garand.
Andbody have an idea of the rifle the Russians are holding... One of those old SVT rifles?

Absolutely seriously. You do not know as to translate the foreign text, you the first day on the Internet?
My answer - the citation from the official document, in detail describing the sentry weapon.

@TTpauMuBJI well it was a joke first thing... And why the fuck did you write that in russian if you can speak english.... Your fuckin kool bud.

My eng isn't so good to translate such texts. The original text in this case is more preferable not to a correct translation.

It's a Russian thing I guess. Even during the Cold War Russian soldiers always looked a bit sloppy. They're Russians, not Prussians :P
