Hey man. Just letting you know that there is no sound on this video... it's been snowed out. I was going to show this to a few friends of mine at the moment since I felt it was pretty damn important; unfortunately there is nothing but white noise. I don't know if it's a just a temporary glitch, the net provider, or YouTube doing it's censorship thing again, but I know which way I'd bet.
Just wanted to give you a heads up. I'm going to check to see if any more of your vids are messed with.
a billion dollars in 6 months? scarface didnt pull a billion in 6 months...i doubt the CIA pulls a billion in 6 months from dealing drugs and tey got a lock on it.
ummm a kilo or kilogram (1000 grams) is 2.2 pounds roughly...not 5 pounds. and you may know sugar production and cost but your way off on cocaine...well if you think a kilo is 5 pounds you might pay 20,000 for one...idiot
If guns aren't the problem of crime but criminals, why aren't people responsible if they screw themselves up with drugs?? So the gov't shouldn't regulate guns but it's ok to regulate drugs? We're smart enough to handle guns but not smart enough or mature enough to handle drugs??? That makes no fucking sense! It's doublespeak.
Doesn't that character limit suck? :) I can't really add much to that, except that after the passage of the seventeenth amendment, there really isn't such a thing as a state government.
And I'm curious, why do you consider economic liberty to be disadvantageous to society at large? I doubt your reply, should you care to answer, would fit very well here, but there's no character limit on my blog.
Well, the term "economic liberty" is kind of a misnomer. I just don't like the idea of giving corporations free reign to do whatever the hell they want, be it pay extremely low wages, not be held accountable, have terrible worker safety standards, pollute the environment, etc. Sure, you can rely on 'the market', but sometimes the market doesn't work to solve these problems or is very slow to do so without regulation because business leaders just have no incentive to do so. Like child labor.
Ahh. I think you'd be surprised to find that most Market anarchist's agree with you. Where we differ is simple: Corporations are creatures of the state BY DEFINITION. A corporation is a juridical person. In an anarchic society, there ain't no such animal, so individuals WOULD be held accountable, by the other individuals affected by their actions. Exactly how to administer such disputes is an ongoing debate, but a system of private courts/DRO's seems to be the concensus so far.
The funny thing is, though, the same people who are for the war on drugs, many times could be the same people who might also say "Guns should be perfectly legal for responsible adults". Of course, they use the mantra that "People kill people, not guns." And if this is so, why not support legalization of drugs, or at least decriminalization, and leaving drug responsibility up to the users, not the gov't? It makes no sense to hold pro-drug war and anti-gun control positions. They contradict.
Like the feds saying it's legal to raid medical marijuana patients' homes and arrest them because weed is illegal according to federal law even though many states have already said it's ok to use medical marijuana within their borders. A large number of states, almost half, have already said medical marijuana is ok, so the feds need to wise up and listen to their constitutents! They are enforcing an obsolete and unlawful policy.
right on! I am not an economic libertarian (cuz that's just nutty and doesn't work for the benefit of all society), but I am a social libertarian, and the American WOD is the worst of the worst. The federal gov't has NO authority to take away our rights in such a manner. Now, according to the 10th Amendment, states can regulate but not ban drugs and other vices, but the feds certainly cannot. This also prevents clashes between the 2 levels of gov't.
i love your arguments. im not a drug user(other than alcohol) but i completly agree. you should make a video like this on gambling laws. those are a bunch of bullshit too.
I agree, the war on drugs is a system that turns otherwise law abiding citizens into criminals. Its a war on the people. If we were to take all the people who at one time or another used drugs, and put them in in jail, the economy would fail,America would fall.Drugs are a bad habit that may lead to death or illness, nothing more, nothing less.
Agreed. Drug use is comparable to eating too much, and some drugs aren't even as bad as that. I can think of few things more absurd than punishing individuals who harm themselves. "You're harming yourself, so we're going to steal your liberty and turn you into a hardened criminal." Brilliant.
There is no sound. I pray you can fix it. Because this seems like it's very important.

I wouldn't actually have to change anything, except the Fed doesn't kill as many people over gambling. Harder to track, I suppose.

Have you seen O'Reilly 'debate' Sullum on this? It's hilarious.
Elhan2005 4 years ago
Not that specifically, but I've seen O'Reilly rail about drugs before. His cranial area resides in an unnatural place.

Haha, please.

"Irresponsible libertines..."
He is such a jackass. That's definitely O'Reilly at his worst (or best, depending on whether one considers hysteria to be a valid debate tactic).
LibertyIsNotGiven 4 years ago
Yep. Funny thing is how he decided to 'let' the guy have the last word, then proceeded to shouting to the very end.
