It's obvious that the original version is always better than the imitations, the Japanese put more emotions and by watching it it makes me think of an anime and makes me want to watch it, but then again, i grew up the the american version (im argentine but we had that version dubbed) so i just can't turn my back to tommy and jason, in conclusion both versions are good 50-50
All I can say is that MMPR has the advantage in Audio. I personally like the MMPR music hugely, because it gets me going, and sets the tone for the action. Also, the audio on the american side is overall just a whole lot cleaner.
I have nothing against Super Sentai. I just never have, but I could never get myself into it.
@Skyfighter64 Well the reason the MMPR audio sounds cleaner is that it's the franchise's nostalgic darling, so it's the most easily-available and it's easier to find footage with high-quality audio. Zyuranger's only claim to fame Sentai-wise is starting the sixth member trend, so most of what you can find of it is old TV encodes. TV-Nihon's working on subbing the DVD-quality footage, but progress is slow at the moment (Episode ten was released August 11th 2011.)
I was practically raised on MMPR, but as of these last few years i've spent more time watching Super Sentai and I have to honestly say it is in fact much MUCH better then its US counterpart. But I will always be a fan of the MMPR that and Tommy (AKA Jason David Frank) Unfrotunately my vote goes to Super Sentai mainly because it felt like they were gonna do everything they could to rip eachothers throats out. It was EPIC
Japanese version, it looks like more hatred between the red and green rangers. I'm just curious, if he can control the dragonzord with his flute, why couldn't he control Godzilla
ill agree, mmpr has a bunch of great scenes....BUT only because they redid the original. Without zyuranger there wouldnt be a pr(every scene, every bad guy, and every design came from super sentai) Only thing saban did was add in the music and edit the scenes. If the music sounds old, guess what? its cause it is old
As much as I like MMPR, my vote goes to Zyuranger. It actually felt like a serious life-or-death battle, also I felt the music fit it perfectly as well, although I know a lot of you will disagree.
While later seasons of PR did improve, I felt it didn't capture the overall spirit of the original Super Sentai versions.
Congrats on your 10th! Love the way you edited this side by side comparison.
JyuuRanger, without a doubt. The abomination that is MMPR will never be anything more than a faint shadow compared to the original Super Sentai. Granted the Disney made versions are much better than the travesty of Saban.
I'm fairly certain that MMPF didn't have many (if any) original fight sequences. They were just dubbed over versions of the original JyuuRanger suit actor scenes.
@ShinmeiAkira02 i'm sure there's controversy between Saban and Disney versions. i like them both. got to remember both Saban and Disney had to edit a lot of the fighting scenes because of the FCC.
@ShinmeiAkira02 Oh please, MMPR was way better. The music sounded more action-like instead of something from a fairytale. And the characters in MMPR looked human instead of like people from outerspace. The American costumes also looked better.
@PriestChristopher Well a fairytale was kind of the tone Zyuranger was going for; Evil witch Bandora kills all the dinosaurs and is sealed away, with the five warriors who sealed her sealing themselves in case she comes back and in the (then-)present day of 1992, she does, and they step forth to stop her once again. And in spite of the fairytale premise, Zyuranger manages to be more dramatic than MMPR by following Show Don't Tell. MMPR was fairly shit, to be honest.
As much as I love Mighty Morphin Power rangers I love Zyurangers even better because of the talking zords it sucks because Power rangers only had machines. But the Zyurangers battle was epic.
MMPR had better music

I like the music, sounds and Zord fight of Power Rangers better, but the Ranger fight goes to Sentai, especially the unmorphed portion.

@DanielWilliamClark
Definitely wouldve liked to have seen an unmorphed tommy vs jason fight

i say its about equal in this case but as a whole MMPR did give us the epic fight of green ranger vs white ranger but sentai is more dramatic

zord battles are not as epic as MMPR style battles!

As a kid back in 93 the American version was as good as it gets. However when you watch the Japanese version it is so much more dramatic.

Zyuranger is the absolute winner cuz of the epic fights, great story, professional actors, amazing costumes, and original music.

Definitely Zyuranger as a whole, but the the MMPR version of the Tyrannosaurus vs the Dragonzord (w/their music) is WAY more epic.
