  • this was so helpful! :) thanks!

  • Thank you.

  • In this video you should count 1 and 2 and 3 and a 4 e and 1... and the fill starts at the a before 4. In the first lesson it was 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 e and 1...and started at the 4

  • Great teacher!

  • nice mam tnx XD good shorts !!

  • Counting 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and ... makes more sense to me because it includes the fill in the counting. hah, that's what I did when I was learning.

  • I just love this guy:)

  • great lessons very clear and to the point

  • COOL VIDEOS

  • I'm going to buy short shorts!

  • Great vids - really good to have something simple and explained well!

  • what drum kit u using ???

  • You are really helping!

Keep up the good work! :)

  • are ludwig sets good?

  • can you recommend a good set to start out with at a decent price? i don't want something super cheap that sounds like total crap. thanks :)

  • a gammon set on ebay

  • if u dont already have a drum set, i jught bought a 8 piece sound percussion set for $500 and i love it. i wanted something kinda cheap to and it is a pretty good deal. it came with everything but cymbals.

  • I agree. Gammon is the way to go. It comes with hi hats, crash, toms, snare; and all the equipment you could need. Including a set seat.

  • @thexdriver also tama has a 5 piece set with everything including all the hardware, cymbals, stands and seat for 699. i just bought it yesterday and it rocks. guitar center by the way

  • dude i love your videos their helping me get started so far pretty well!

  • Very well done. Nice teaching job. I will re-do the lessons and see how it goes ;O)

  • i like the first fill better dont know y

  • i like the way his tom sounds

  • who wears short shorts?

  • WE WEAR SHORT SHORTS!!!!

  • @nickeftink i didnt even notice

  • @Blep1337 drummers wear short shorts! xD

  • @Blep1337 cool people? XD

  • is meinL cymbals good......???coz i havent heard meinL cymbals yet in person...

  • yeah, some meinl are bad and some a very good. just about like all other cymbals, depends on how much you wanna spend

  • You are a talented instructor. I like the way you show the fills in every aspect. Full speed. Step by step, then the exaggerated final run showing which arms and stuff. I am a thirty six year old beginning drummer so I will try to do your stuff.

    Thanks

  • cool tutor i really learned alot

  • im glad i found your videos on drum fills.. its just what i was looking for. thanks, jon!!!!!

  • im getting my kit soon and im just brushing up on some things and getting ready, ive noticed alot of haters commenting on your videos, but they can go to hell, your videos are brilliant and even without a kit or practicing it i get what you mean, your videos are really helpful, continue making videos regardless of what people say man, kudos to you, thanks =] <3

  • just got my first drum set last week, and your lessons are just what i need...keep on rock'n in the free world brother! great job and thanks.

  • you're an amazing teacher man. keep up the good work. i've learned a lot from every one of your videos

  • haha. Hes wearing short shorts.

    lol

  • no me! lol XP i dont even know you

  • Dude this vid rocks! i hav sum trouble finding and putting together certain beats, espiecally with sum vids tht dont fully show exactly wat and how to do things, im more of a visual type, and this definetly helps, its so easy and quick to the point, and you explain it so well, showing exactly how to play it, and how to count, i learned it fully in 5 minutes thanx ALOT! i could learn a load more if it were this easy and fast all the time lolz make more forsure!!

  • you all need to quit bitching he's just trying to help people who cant afford lessons so stick it not every1 has money dick this guy has done more for u by posting this vid then u ever did for a dying little kid!

  • hey there its usefull for beginner shut the hell up bunch of morron ....hiding back of your screen!!! i dont play but if i start it be good to know !

  • yeah you are probably 5 year old ...criss de cave de tapette!

  • man, it's like teaching a retard. wow, whoever can't learn that should just give up drumming and give the drum set to me XD

  • or me :P

  • or maybe me : P

  • or even mabye me :P

  • No not you joe >: P

  • SHORT SHORTS!!! =D

  • cool, cheers:)

  • u rock!

  • thanks againg brother !

  • why do some drummers take out that second tom and replace it with a ride?

  • well i dont but my tutor does but he messes around with it but he told why he does it for diffrent song u have to have the right timing and if u have to move your arm faster and stretch it may mess u up so its better to have every thing close for faster fill & switching symbols

  • why do some drummers have 3 toms instead of 2 and a ride?

  • because the are either pretty supplyed and can afford a third rack tom or they just got one in there kit

and most drummers have a ride cymbal

  • if they didn't have a ride, that almost warrants a sense of worry as a musician.

but using a splash as a crash is just killing my ears.

  • haha it looks like a 5" splash

  • i could never play with my kit like that, its looks so messy and nothing is tight and neat, i like it all nice and neat and tight so i can get to everything, nice toms tho they sound quite good

  • Hey you're the guy who made the vid about putting a blanket in ur bass to make it sound better. I thought u sounded familiar

  • great. really helpfull. awesome.

  • Tutor- Lame cowabunga lesson-! just learn to read music goon ball then you'll be able to really count and figure out your subdivisions!! there is no 123456 in 4/4 time - it's one and two and three and four( eighth notes) or 1234 (quarter notes) or one e and ah 2 e and ah 3 e and ah 4 e and ah (16th notes)- or one and a two and a 3 and a 4 and a (8th note triplets) Go back to school learn to at least read time then you'll be able to tell someone exactly what your doing-including yourself!

  • he wasnt saying there is 123456 in 4/4 time sig, he was saying thats how many beats in until u start the fill which makes 8

  • Suburban- my point is if he was really able to count (read time) he would be explaining this in a different way- a way that all musicians who read music can easily understand- as it is he has to make up his own counting system- which won't serve him or anyone else very well especially when he starts getting into way more complicated combination's than there are in this film. He's supposed to be teaching remember? we don't need a teacher who makes up his own language when there already is one.

  • um anyone with a brain can easily convert his way of counting to the 1+2+3+4+ its easy so why is everyone arguing. I understand him better than the teachers on youtube who actually count correctly

  • liv4dumb- um you will not be able to do that in any way shape or form when the fills become complicated- that's why people with brains by the way learn to count and read music-um and um you will only be able to play the simplest of fills if you never learn to read or count um which maybe is all you want um which in that case is ok um but for me myself who doe's have a brain I want to be able to do more than that-um, much more, um.

  • lol ummmm i know how to count idiot. This IS a simple fill so ummm you CAN convert it. stop bitching already I doubt you will be learning all of your fills from this guy anyway

  • its either 1 2 3 4, 1+2+3+4+,1e+a2e+a3e+a4e+a depending on how fast your moving. This guy just makes these tutorials on actually playing which in the long run will not let these drummers learn to read music.

  • seems like you're a pretty good teacher. trying to get back on the drums at my church. your vid's should help. keep it up

  • You have to count during the fill too...

  • awesome

  • hello .. awesome video .. finally someone explains it slow..lol . im a serious beginner and i just learned that fill from u but i do it right left right on the snare then left on the high tom and right with the kick on the crash .. it seems easier and faster to me ..is this wrong . is there a reason u do it differently

  • It dosnt matter if it still sounds good and your confortable playin like that thats fine, so its not wrong in any way.

  • it ain't wrong

  • Awesome Vid!

  • Yay someone besides me uses meinl cymbals!! Lol.

  • haha many drummers do. including me :D

  • ur a legenddddd

  • I watched all your videos and they helped me get a good start. Thank you very much.

  • god damn dude.. is there anything u cant play AND teach?

    props to u from brazil!

  • Hey Jonathan I watch your vids for DJ coolness but am a aspiring drummer also. I found a guy that does some of what you're doing here. Search for onlinedrummer. He's pretty easy to understand and may help your viewers. Let people know if you like him. BTW I have nothing to do with the guy.

  • nice and easy to follow tutorial!

  • Nice one!

I've made one interesting observation: If you shift the playhead under the video window forwards (ie You're fast-forwarding the video), you'd see Johnathan's drum set move to the right :D

  • lol! this is because the friggin bass drum likes to walk on smooth surfaces! pain in the ass! j

  • Im going to use this in school now XD

  • You Should Do A Video Where Your Doing What The Cadburys Gorilla Does :D

    Haha

  • My Sister Drummin too... Maybe she could teach even you what or you her or other ;O) *gG*

    And good drummin ! ^.~

    See Ya

  • nice jonathan

  • Thanks for posting these videos. I know they take time and a lot of people wont give out their time for no pay. Great post once again! :)

  • Not long until questions and requests of more videos of drumming will start pouring in and after that Jonathan is not only known as djtutor but also drumtutor or internet. Easy simple lessons for free and people pay huge amount of money to go to some schools for this. Legend.

  • Awesome. I've always wanted to drum on a drum set, but always been denied the opportunity.

These are going to be helpful one day. Thanks Jon!

  • I can never get sick of watching your vids. Thanks for the quick simple lesson.

  • cool
