I think the reason (or at least one of the reasons) why Zach is so funny is his deadpan delivery. The distance between what he says and how he says it is so amusingly incongruous. His manner of speaking has an underwhelming and almost vapid quality as he nails the punchline. For me personally, the funniest comedians are those who don't ham it up and rely on quality of jokes and appreciation for the dramatic buildup and inevitable climax.
