  • 3:06 how is anyone supposed to get that? lol its so fast and so far left lol

  • Great Video. Good description of the racquet face on contact.

  • is slice serve = twist serve?

  • @iamdaphnie no, slice-topspin is twist serve

  • well, the first thing i noticed was that the guy uses different stances for his slice serve and kick/flat serves. i hope he worked on that. easy to find out how he is going to hit his serve.

  • @deagmomo thats because they are two different people...

you can see at 4:44 that the two different guys are on opposite sides of the court

  • @Kiser153 uh okay, haven't noticed the different racquets. but it would be easier to show the differences of ball toss and technique with only 1 guy hitting the serves. beginners might also not notice that there are 2 guys hitting different serves.

  • @deagmomo yeah i agree, they look similar.

  • Using 4:06 as an example, here are a few tips:

1)Keep on your toes as the guy does when he throws the ball up and feet apart for comfort.

2)When raising the arm, allow the hand holding your racquet to be at or above the height of your head.

  • HarryPotterDBZ . Not if u want to slice the serve no!

  • seems like a slice and a spin is the same serve

  • @415Underdog Top Spin serve is thrown right over your head and you brush up on the ball, spin serve is tossed to the side and you brush on the side of the ball

  • 8 people cant hit slice serves

  • @MadBanana39167

    Don't...

  • aww my problem is that I have a lot of spin but no velocity...-.-" ^^guess I gotta practice more!

  • I dont really understand why, but when i do my slice serve, if i land it, it barely moves forward at all. It usually lands in the middle of the box, then spins straight sideways out of court.

  • @MrQwertyuiop2

Harder for them to get ;-)

  • Yeaaaaaahhhh, they're using Dunlop rackets! :D I use the same one they're using, the 5Hundred Elite

  • play cod black ops

  • I am going to apply what I learnt about the slice serve. Currently, only has a powerful flat serve.

  • @GetMySkin Me too, for some reason I can't hit any spin on my serves, if I try to it lands short or goes to the opposite service box. I guess I'm not hitting upward enough.

  • I think i will try to master the Andy Roddick serve technique instead. 155mph smash :)

  • @petechett I guarantee you will not get over 100mph trying to copy other peoples serves and not making your own.

  • @petechett Don't hurt yourself. I know many have tried to replicate Roddick's technique and many have injured themselves doing so. Get your basics down before attempting such a maneuver.

  • @petechett I think that's a flat serve. Not slice. Although I can be wrong. I honestly haven't seen any of his matches lol.

  • Thank you for the tips. you're all great! TENNIS FOREVER!

  • I'm gonna try this at my match tomorrow :DD Hope it goes well (:

  • @KKsporty did you win?

  • @petechett Yes :)

  • I like the kick serve because it can be a lot faster. It also puts it out of your opponents hitting zone.

  • They make it look so easy.. but in reality it is really hard and requires a looooot of practice!

  • all of the pictures have foot faults!

  • aerogel 4d 500's any good?

  • Can anyone tell me what background music they are using?

    Thank You!

  • PLEASE HELP!!!

fyb2007 says to have the racket face point towards the court you are aiming to and just use the way the racket is moving to put spin but this is saying to hit the outside so there is spin!!! WHICH ONEE???

i dont know which to trust!!! they both have such good lessons

  • @noobsdumb If you hit the ball on the outside it gets much more spin.

  • when learning how to play tennis, whats the most difficult thing about it? (footwork/feet coordination, serving, racket control, etc)

  • @ronaldofever for me, i thought it was a mixture between the timing of hitting the ball and the racket control.

  • Hahahaha foot fault! Nevertheless this is still a great tutorial.

  • Very well explained! Thanks for including left handed serve!

  • Ignore 'whatever'---he's just a troll

  • Man, i wanna play tennis, but got no one, nor where to play :S

  • what do pros like roger federer use for their 1st serve? topspin or slice serve?

  • @Genius2419

Well I know Rafa Nadal always uses slice serve ( since hes a left, his serve will curve to a righty's backhand ) And I think Roger mostly does topspin

  • @Genius2419 Every professional tennis player has their first serve as a flat serve. If it doesn't go in then they use (most likely) a top spin serve knowing that there is a high chance of it getting in and difficult to return (if carried out successfully).

  • @AsianSpaghetti No, professionals use a slice serve a lot to serve down the middle in a match as their first serve all the time...

  • @whateverg1012 yea bro she sucks thats why ur watching a video on how to serve bro. shed prob smash u 6-0 gg nerd

  • @pokeywoop lol you never saw me play bitch fuck you

  • @whateverg1012 Her foot didn't cross the line. It was just close.

  • @whateverg1012 You can put your foot on the line but not past the line...

  • @whateverg1012 Are you saying that you can do better?

  • @whateverg1012 she always does a footfault on her serves. always, the left handed gierl

  • @whateverg1012 left-handed girls are good at giving hand j*bs

  • In my opinion, slice serve is much easier than topspin serve.

  • So slice is sidespin, not backspin?

  • i've used it in a match whitout practice and it works good

    (but it was hard)

  • gona try slice serve next :D

  • slice serve i really hard to master

  • Grrr . Need more practice .

  • This is way weird for me because, I just started really playing a few weeks ago, and I dont even know how to do a basic topspin serve, and even when I try to, I end up doing a slice serve...lol

  • outside of racket? im sorta confused.

  • @waspsrugbydude151410

i think he meant the ball... hit the racquet on the outside of the ball instead of on the back of it.... if that's the part you are referring to...

  • Great set of video clips - focuses on the key points! Worth watching a few of these before each match.

ps: Anyone in London UK mid- intermediate level, let me know and we'll fix up a game. I'm Fitness4London on the LondonTennis website too.

  • 5:31 best trick EVER

  • 5:35

  • thanks im going to try it know bye XD

  • The best video I've seen on tennis serves. Thank you.

  • should you spin the ball on the toss for a slice and topspin or not?

  • @SexyLeprechaun28 It really doesn't make any difference because the racket speed will make any spin you put on the ball as you toss it negligible.

  • Using Eastern Backhand for flat serve for me keeps the ball down on impact, about 6 inches off the court. The velocity is over 100 mph which really frustrates my opponents. Most good tennis players don't like serves out of the strike zone.

  • she's got a better technique than him... he should hit the ball higher... but good explanation

  • well explained

  • Nice instruction, I use eastern backhand for all my serves. This really imparts way more spin for slice, kicks and twist serves. The eastern backhand is a bit more difficult to master, pronation for flat serves are really difficult to master. I confuse my opponents with eastern backhand serves. Give it a shot and see how you do.

  • @picksboy

    Hi

I agree with using the eastern backhand for slice and kick serves but still find the continental best for the flat serve - to each his own!!

  • thanks a lot!

more practice makes my improvement =]

  • At 5:18 are the flight paths of the balls incorrect ?? ...for a righty of course.

  • definitely helpful, favorited and 5/5

  • Excellent! very well explained!

  • Brilliant.

  • very nice vid

  • nice instruction for both righties and lefties!

  • totally agree! thank you! :]

  • Very good instructions and good video, replay, slowmotion, side by side and graphic

  • true that.
