I have watched this film at least 6 times, but only just got another Beatle connection:
in this scene John introduces Paul as "an old friend Ramone". I used to assume it as just cos it sounded foreign. But now I'm pretty sure the writers get John to use that name cos I remember when they were "Long John and The Silver Beetles", the others changed their names too, and Paul became "Paul Ramone"! :D
@thesidrotten Actually no. Paul Ramone was a name he chose when he was seventeen during a small tour of scotland with Johnny and the Moondogs, because he thought it sounded exotic. It was Paul Ramone,Stuart DeStael... and I can't remember the names John and george picked, but this was WAY before the ramoens even existed.
@thesidrotten You're retarded with your bull shit talk about the band the Ramones. Beatlesfan6270 is right. Paul chose the name for a tour back when he was 17 as an exotic name for the band Johnny and The Moondogs (This was way before the band The Ramones even existed) You stupid cunt, learn your shit you faggot.
Did anyone notice this fan looks sort of like what Chapman MIGHT have looked like the year this was supposed to be? Meaning...this might have been Chapman, who carried a bit of a grudge against John for ripping him a new one. NOT FACT: JUST MY THOUGHTS, OK?
you know the funny thing about the old couple is that there is a side story to that...john tells it to dick cavett on his show where he and yoko were in spain and the violinist at the restaurant played yesterday (a Paul song) for the two of them...but he said he didn't know what to say so he just signed it for the guy...the other funny thing on the cavett show is that during the breaks the show band were playing paul's beatle songs to john and yoko...george even brought that up on a later show..
the scene with the fan is very lennonlike and i think it's my favorite scene in the whole movie...i think if john had a few drinks in him, he woud've tore this guy a new a##...as a matter of fact, there's a video out called my dinner with jimi, which is a story about the 60's group the turtles who meet the beatles in london in 67...and a drunken lennon tears into the guitarist in the turtles...he rips him so much kinda like this scene but worse that the guy never plays guitar again.
If i knew that was how John was i and approached him, i would tell him, Hey man i really loved your work, when are we gonna get a new record, and hes a dick, i think i would rip him a new ass!
Lennon doesnt understand that for all his bullshit, its the fans that allow him to live such a carefree lifestyle, unfortunately in our society someone as intellect as Lennon doesnt matter unless hes done something great for the masses. Do You know what i mean? I feel the old couple was out of line though
I heard that Paul actually did have a meeting with Paul in the mid-seventies. And I saw a pic of Paul and Linda coming up the stairs in May Pang's(John's ex girlfriend) book.
But was this meeting the last time that John and Paul ever saw each other face to face? I mean, by the time that John died, had it been years since he and Paul saw each other in person? Also, does anybody know if there are pics of John and Paul together during the post Beatle years?
Fortunatly, Paul did say they had some wonderfull phone talks before he died, as if all the stress from the buisness side just went away.....john and he would also joke about a reunion (Key word JOKE) too...if only.
Supposedly, the last time Paul and John saw each other face-to-face was in early 1980 when Paul and Linda stopped in New York on their way to their infamous trip to Japan. The last time they spoke was a few weeks before John was killed when Paul asked John if he would be interested in making a joint bid to buy back their songwriting copyrights. John was very much interested, and after he was killed, Paul and Yoko made a bid only to be outbid by Michael Jackson.
The Guy Playing Lennon looks like Elton John

"You're a lucky man, Paul" I totally agree with that. Paul had a very good life, even with the bad things, like to lose John and Linda.

Paul looked so jealous when the fan said John was his favorite Beatle. SO FUNNY. Just like Paul.

The whole John Lennon conversation with the fan is very John like. He really hated with people bothering him with all the nonsense about the Beatles.
