It looks like it's an earlier LV-09 with one of their clear pick guards. I have an earlier D-03 with a clear pick guard. The newer models all show a tortoise-shell pick guard. In any case Larrivée makes several acoustics with cutaway bodies. They are not that unusual.

Wood is VERY important in determining a guitar's value. I'd love to see your $500 guitar that has the "best tone" around because chances are, you own one. Nylon strings doesn't mean a guitar sucks; it might be a classical guitar, which requires immense finger dexterity to play as does any other guitar.

Actually, I'd say the tapping is the EASIEST part. Even if it's fast it's really simple technique but the rest of the song requires refinement over and over again. This is song is very easy to play, difficult to master and make sound good

The most difficult part of this tune is the ultra fast slapping he does. The fast strumming isn't too hard once you have the flamenco triplet technique down. The tapping is hard as shit though.

Isabelled is right. Down with middle finger, then down with thumb on the same stroke, up with thumb. Focus on rotating your wrist rather than moving your hand. You should practice the motion on your knee or something before you move onto the guitar.
