UFO put out killer albums without Schenker. Like - Mechanix, The Wild the Willing And The Innocent and even No Place To Run. To say they are a cover band of themselves is silly. They are straight up a killer rock band and a very important piece of rock and roll history!!!
@123IN321OUT hey man, I know you posted some killer vids of you playing, but how come you haven't posted any more in at least 2 years !! would love to see more!
This band was huge in the 1980's, went to see them more times than I had hot dinners and they were absolutely fantastic. Don't knock live music even if it is not your cup of tea, until you have seen a band live! Rock bands play better live music than any other genre and don't mime!!!
Chapman simply couldn't compare to Schenker ... too bad really 'cause the Scorps made it even bigger in the 80s when, if Schenker had stayed, UFO should have been just as HUGE!
@Jmurray5150 You might be right about the fame they would have received in the 80s had Schenker stayed...and I think MS is AMAZING....but I actually really like the Chapman era.
FUCK man I only got into the MIGHTY UFO in the late 90's.A good friend of mine taped me thats right TAPED me the best of,which I had for a long time before playing it.ON FIRST LISTEN THEY blew me away into outer space!!!COULD'T believe how early they played their classic HARD/HEAVY METAL trademark sound.Never knew they did SOLOS like that I can see why bands were influenced by them SIGHTS & VISION (look at WAY such a metal looking DUDE)the double BASS ,HAIR,the head banging.TRUE GODZZ!!
@madometal ,,,,well you should be listening to original tape recordings or vinyl , it sounds 1000x better than cd digital shit and 1000000x better than mp3
@sidecrusher DOOD relax man still got my vinyl collection & my cassettes, lets face it ,my personal opinion, just for myself i think CD's were the best thing since slice bread. Then it just got better again speaking only 4 myself mp3's came out i was in HEAVEN.Now with my IPHONE 32 gig of motherfuckin' mayhem CRYSTAL CLEAR can't get any better than that ,COME ON get with the times CHAMP.
@NeilThompson30 1 thing if I may,one thing people need to realize is LPs don't last forever, I know, thi only way they will last is if you only play them ,what? twice a year?
LPs will scratch so bad no matter hoewmany times you change the needles,This is what I do, best thing to do is , you buy the cd make a copy for the car & even you put them in your own other, put the original & keep new!!
@AXEFLYERFV CD'S are the best, LPs they end up at garage sales for 25 cents I still have mines & keep ,because of the covers but the lps are worthless!
sorry dude I wasn't replying to you ,I just posted it here just my personal opinion !!
@NeilThompson30 Right on, I typed so fast & not realized howmany mistakes I typed,so sorry about that.
I meant to say HOWMANY, ORDER,Put the original away, sleeves stay like new,the best thing about puting cds on blank cds is that more songs fit in, I appreciate your reply!
@NeilThompson30 still have most of my vinyls & cassettes & singles though I hardly touch them I occassionaly dig them out of storage & make mp3s out of songs or albums that I miss dearly & can't find on the good ol'internet...so keep everything that is in good nick....cheerz
Is that a fender or a Gibson that Chapman is using...?? Does anyone know what that model is called....and how old is it?? fuckin love it...??? I've seen Steve Winwood use one back in the Traffic days too....
Yeah.,,.really, odd name?? Love that style! Are they rare..?? Stevie Winwood had a lime green one that was amazing...I think I've also seen Brain Jones using one back in the early Stones days. Thx bro!!
Chapman's the man. Isn't it ironic that Iron Maiden and Def Leppard admit that they owe so much to UFO and yet for some stupid reason they became bigger bands than UFO!!! There's no justice.
MSchenker was at the epitome of axemen of the time-his dead-on runs wrapped around a weaving, tight, driving and inticate back-beat set the standard for a generation. add to it all a haunting melodic key, hooks and chord changes coming at just the right time. in my opinion doctor doctor, lights out, and rock bottom comprise some the best live performances ever, influencing all rock that came after.
After all these years, these guys still hold up. What UFO did with four chords and a tight lead was practically unriveled, in my opinion. An amazing bunch of talent in one place, even with the changes at lead over the years. Foreigner comes to mind as having taking the UFO genre to a mainstream level (better management?), while Journey softened it up some but held onto the component parts of the driving UFO melodic rock sound.
12 years ago, i borrowed this vhs tape from an neighbor of mine and it had the whole program with the japanese subtitle. We've lived in the same apartment building back in 1995. I returned it back to him in 1997.
Anyway, i'm glad i was able to find it since i've been a YT member.
Paul Chapman played good on this. Also liked the Gibson non-reversed firebird w/the DiMarzio humbucker.

You can parade Paul Chapman, et. al., but Michael Schenker is the guy who created the magic...!

There's no replacing Michael Schenker.
hand2fin 9 months ago
@hand2fin... Doing Schenker songs without Schenker makes UFO into an instant cover band of themselves.

FYI in America, we don't give a shit about Paul Chapman - Michael Schenker played an awesome guitar..!
LowBid86 9 months ago

How many keyboards does a man need. For being a guitarist, keyboardist and singer, and a lefty, Paul Raymond was not bad.

The UFO rhythm section was unparalleled, and with Moggs singular vocals, they formed the heart of a sound no one else had, but many copied.
