  • do some licks!

  • Sounds cleaner but not amazing

  • I dont understand how anyone hears this and doesnt think the keeley is amazing??

  • The Keeley adds a brittle treble overtone, I had mine Keeley modded and traded it strait over for another stock TS808 as I could not dial in the warmth of the stocker, The magic is in the stock pedal....if you are a Hi-Fi guy, you would like the Keeley....

  • What's the best of the two for SRV?

  • @PeacefulMax The thing about reissues, modded gear, and modulators is that no matter how close you get to sounding like the original, it will never sound EXACTLY like the original. You put it up next to the real thing and you will tell the difference. SRV used an original TS-808. If it's vintage tone you're going for, only STOCK vintage gear can deliver.

  • @PeacefulMax Either that or a Maxon, since they developed the original for Ibanez. The OD-808 is about the closest you can get to a real 70's TS-808 without spending a wad of cash on eBay. I have a D&S II that I use for everything from blues to rock to metal and even punk and it powers through all of them with just a few knob adjustments. Only thing I would trade it for is a vintage TS-808 or original D&S and even then I'd bust it out on occasion or just move it somewhere else on my chain

  • Man! Jij ben zeker een Hollander! Lekker bezig dan!

  • awesome vid

    thanks!

  • "TS eight hundred and eight" sounds so funny

  • Nice Mr. Big reference at 4:10!!

    \m/

  • Keeley sounds brighter, and original sounds warmer, so I guess it's just a matter of taste. I have an original TS-808 and a modded TS7. What I use depends upon what I'm playing. One things for sure - the TS Series is a great product line.

  • the stock one sounds better to me

  • fantastic sound okkk ggoood pedal ibañez!!!!!!

  • anyways tell me or recommend me which tube screamer i should get i really like that earthy blues tone i have a bd2 but personally i feel its lacking in the mids :c so either a ts9 or a ts808 im not sure thanks

  • Mr. Big!

  • SRV was stated you gotta try the Tube Screamer what he didn't say was just putting it in ur pedal line gives you the SRV CLEAN sound we all love so much I've tried it with the TS-808, there's a magic there just boost it and it becomes more apparent probably why he had a TS-9 as a booster/OD same thing with the Vox wah set to open and just let there the open filters are a ll part of the Mojo..

  • @jhnsn56 I think he used two ts 808.

  • On the Keeley mods you can hear the diode clipping the silly con diodes clip harshly on all distortion modes...in the sense of a decent boost though it may seem prudent to keep the gain vintage with a decent sag...seems the louder image gives up more noticable frequencies that need to be buffered, there's a Maxon/Ibanez Tube Screamer with a EQ 5 bands bright boost and signal boost switches Renometer No.95 that adjust for such...I'm amazed that the TS-808 triumphed over this sibling...

  • The TS 808 sounds warmer if a little muddier by comparison. The Keeley has more clarify but sounds more harsh.

  • The keeley is so not worth it!

They just replace 6 parts and charge you 120$...you can do that yourself with 10 bucks

  • @FearlessSpinner how would you change the ts808 to true bypass then???? i'd love to do that. much thanks

  • ori ts808 sounds britsh...........keeley sounds american....: ))

  • Just to ask: Why is there no LED burning, while switching the stock unit "on"? Don´t telle me, that it´s shining so low! What´s wrong with this review? Was ist even switched on? Actually, I like my cheap TS-5, modded to TS 808. :-)

  • @6stringdown; it's a different LED. (less blue) and maybe the angle of the Camera why you can't see it when it's turned on.

  • @maxguitarstore I may be mistaken, but the Keeley's I've seen have a blue LED, and the Ibanez have had a red LED. May not be true for all units.

  • @6stringdown I've definitely noticed with all my stock TS9's, it's hard to tell when they're on, the angle you are looking at the pedal has a hug effect for some reason. You can really only see the light if you're right on top of it.

  • @6stringdown The standard LED's in those units weren't tremendously bright. Angle too.

  • @6stringdown The standard LED's in those units weren't tremendously bright. Angle too. Plus you could hear him switching it on and off.

  • @6stringdown

Stock Tube Screamers have notoriously dim LEDs, actually. I think both here sound great, tho!

  • from clean to loud whats more even i say the 808

  • fail... no lead?! Really? Use a strat too...

  • @JosSlagers wat het is is dat ik tweetalig gymnasium doe en dat ik al 3 jaar lang alleen les krijg van echte engelsen/amerikanen en alleen maar engels spreek, en dat ik ook nog eens familie heb in amerika die wel eens hiernaartoe komen!! (;

  • This demo is flawed for a few reasons:

    1. When comparing a pedal with true-bypass to a pedal without, they should be in separate signal chains to demonstrate clean tones as well. That's a *major* advantage to the Keeley mod that this video completely ignores. You can't demonstrate the purity of a pedal with true bypass by running its signal through a pedal without it! Come on, that's common sense!

    2. IT'S A TUBESCREAMER. PLAY THE BLUES!

    3. What dual TS demo doesn't turn them both on at once?

  • IMO, the Keeley is more thicker and richer than the stock model, but the stock TS808 doesn't sound bad at all. I heard the sound clip of the Maxon OD808 today and it sounds very good. Overall, it's just a matter of preference, IMO. I forgot to mention that I also heard the Fulltone Mosfet OD2 today as well. The mosfet chip in this pedal really makes this an awesome OD pedal. As for the price of all these pedals, I guess that the Fulltone would be the best bet. More bang for the buck!

  • Really, demos like this don't give the Keeley Mod justice, there's an overall fullness it gives to your sound that just doesn't translate over whatever mic they used, file compression and cpu speakers. Don't knock it just hearing this vid!

  • I prefer original. Keeley never sounds vintage!!!

  • I really dont like that keeley.. Original BY FAR!

  • Keeley THE BEST! I like this keeley mod, is better than original sound...

  • The accent of the comments is not proper English or American slang, it is sooooooo cheese Dutch I had a good laugh!! Thanks!

  • i don't like this keeley mod at all.

  • I don't hear much but an overall treble boost on the Keeley. I like a little treble so the guitar will cut through the mix but I can do this at the amp. I don't need to mod a pedal for the treble. Thanks for the comparison maxguitarstore.

  • No way man. The sound is fuller all around the spectrum, not just highs. Harmonics sound sweeter too

  • I prefer the Ibanez over the Keeley modified one. I'm using a Maxon though.

  • @DroejsTube Which model? I have a Maxon D&S II and I love it!! I use it for just about everything I do and it works like a charm.
