Listening to this for the first time, I think to myself how familiar it seems. And yet I had never heard it before. This song is designed to feel familiar, like an old dream you once had. Like someone you met long ago, a distant memory.
I am enlisting into the United States Navy as an apprentice sailor in the pact program. I am going to work my butt of to become a Hm Corpsman. This song solidifies my resolve in the career path I have chosen.
I think this song must've been divinely created. Here I am tonight, procrastinating writing a dramatic spoken word segment in an upcoming play. I turn on my writing music via Pandora and this is the first song that comes on. After I complete the project I decided go back and read it to this song. Surprise, surprise. The timing and swells synchronize perfectly. I've been trying music piece after music piece, royalty free mostly, and making my own... nothing felt right. Until now.
this song always bring's tears to my eyes...as a philosophy major one of my favorite branches of philosophy is metaphysics (basically questioning reality)...this, and songs like it, serve as catalysts to me thinking about reality...and i shed tears because of the overwhelming amount of questions that come up when I listen to songs like this
@Flycutie100 TWDY's music is made so that you can emphasize on what you want it to be. While other artist strive to get there point across though there lyrics TWDY strives to create something that you can put in your own perspective. Unraveling your own stories while listening to this is what makes this so amazing.
just now heard of them, and i want their album and just listen to it while chilling in a tree, and then slowly rise up, then climb down and jog, and look around, the place where i grew up, and how it has all changed from when i was young, and how this world use to be so big, but now its just small you know there is something else out there, but you just cant see it physically, and its all around you, but you just dont know what it is, but will we ever know what it is? god???
Everyone is commenting on how this song is uplifting(?), but I come to this song whenever I feel sad. It's a calming, necessary sad though. It's like a good cry or something. It doesn't make me feel happy, but it pacifies me.
can't help but listen to this and think of the many memories i have collected over the past years weather they were good or bad. THIS IS REAL MUSIC! thank you guys for being just AWESOME muscians!
I lost my job, as I sit here wondering how I am going to pay my house payment this brings a light of happiness and clarity to my day, thank you They Will Destory You
@xfactor5492 Oh, it's wrong to take something excellent that someone said and reiterate it? Sorry, I didn't know there were cops on youtube. Come arrest me.
I'm sitting here, after a wonderful day of mountain biking and hanging with great people, Sitting here with my skullcandy skullchrusher headphones (amazing bass) and I'm just getting into post rock............. and this song it making tears of joy run down my face as I'm typing this. It's so wonderful :(
@TheAngryAumist Shit, same here. Came across post rock a few months ago, but am now really starting to rediscover these bands. :) Really amazing stuff.
this song live really brings out that ebow guitar, i really need to find a high quality one that really showcases that, and you have the true essence of this song
For me this and EITS are pure drops of Americana. When I listen to this I feel as if being in the middle of the hot, arid desert, watching the sky, feeling the wind and the dry Earth, listening, just being.
This music leads me into the universe. My consciousness flowing through the endless aether of infinity. Worlds are being born, worlds are dying, everything is simply flowing, and I get a front stage view of it all.
So interesting how it says "music only" cause shouldn't all music be like this? Give you rest, sounds that give you inspiration, give you hope, share your love, share your happiness? The only one way to do this is surpass our mouth, the limiting factor that holds all mankind back. We yell, we can't convey everything, we interpret, we selectively hear. But music over comes all that, and you go into a higher evolution. We are accending into something greater here people! thumbs up!!!
People talk about death with this song. its not about death. Its about everything. and the struggle we go through each day. knowing this morality is upon us like nothing we can do. Its about hopelessness but at the same time having hope. At least thats the way I feel. The way music should be. Everything at once.
This brings me back to being at my grandfather's death bed, can't breathe but through a tube, dying a little every minute. Holding his hand as he passed. And that was it, I lost him. I go home, fall asleep, start dreaming about him, can't get him out of my head. It's been 4 years, and it feels like just yesterday that I got to sit on his lap and listen to him tell me a wise-tale, play catch with him, hunt with him, etc. I love so much. He will always be my hero...
@nightfield10 The only thing I can say is that you clearly lack the soul required to be on the same planet as this band and bobos245. I suggest you crawl back into whatever hole you came from and dont come out til you've grown a soul you shit-head...
This song makes me remember World War 2 and all of the battles I fought. I am 82 years old and I love the emotions that this song brings out in me. I shot so many people, and this song makes me want to resurrect them and apologize.
Then why does your profile say your 20? On videos you have viewed, you have commented with things that said otherwise about your age. Don't fake being a veteran. That's serious stuff man.
@ceverettsmith Saying something like that, just to get likes... you sick person. It takes one click on your profile for people to see through your (rather shitty) facade.
This first thing I thought when I heard this song was, "It sounds like Explosions", followed by, "postrock is becoming too predictable", and then, "time to listen to some Godspeed".
i just saw this live in london and the impact this song has on you when its live is 100x more deep. litreally i have never been so blown away by a band live.
If you had been in a coma for 40 years and awoke to realize all you had loved is now gone, and everyone close to you has either passed away or forgotten you, this is what you would hear.
@TheTonald to follow that thought, Explosions in the sky (post-rock instrumental) has a song called first breath after a coma. if you haven't already, check it out
i feel like i'm seventy two and the love of my life has just passed on and and all at once the grass all around my feet turns to ice and i just stand there as frost takes my hold of my body and i'm stuck and in the frost and ice forced to watch my love slowly disappear as the ice and the frost melt and the green grass takes it's form again for it is spring and it reminds me that we are no different then the seasons.
When I hear this song I feel like Im playing it live in front of many people and I can feel the emotions of every single individual, triggering an adrenaline rush that brings tears down their faces knowing I feel the same way,
the right way through life is tough and you will not be rewarded if you want it, the reward is knowing that you can do things correctly, proudly, elegantly, and remembering that only you can do them your way. Nobody can change that, not even you.
I fell asleep to this song...when I awoke I had tears in my eyes. I was crying this song makes you want to love anyone who has ever wronged you. Forgive them
an epic musical journey straight into the heart of any emotion that may be plaguing your world at any particular moment. beautifully composed art. beginning to end.
@highblur 65 Days of static and Russian Circles. Two of my favourite instrumental bands, but theyre progressive/Alternative rock. More a mix of up tempo with relaxed. but none the less highly inspiring.
I am all alone, and I have fallen to my knees. The love of all my life is walking away from me and my tears fall with the rain around me as I clutch the roses I picked for her.
The pain is unbearable, yet I am entraced by it. The elegant beauty of each raindrop and footstep brings joy to my heart. And Instead of a player in the moment, I am an observer. An observer of life.
That is what I felt the first time I heard this song.
I could honestly cry because of this. You just explained the momentary feeling I have right now and the things I've been thinking these past few months
@hohohee1 not cool.... how could someone make up such a tragic story about their own life??? you need to rethink your life if thats your opinion on his comment.
@GB4ManU7fan I read your post and listened to that song and somehow... i felt the connection between your words and this beautiful melody. It's just like you wrote down the unspoken lyrics of it. just thank you.
love the album cover

@GB4ManU7fan I read your post and listened to that song and somehow... i felt the connection between your words and this beautiful melody. It's just like you wrote down the unspoken lyrics of it. just thank you.
