While I hate to say negative things about artists, it has to be said that Domingo just isn't that great of a singer and personality as his fame would suggest. 30 years from now, his legacy will look very weak. Why? One way to look at it is that a truly great singer must have reference recordings which are unmatched by anyone else. Domingo doesn't have any. The only thing which he sang better than anyone else that I know of is "No puede ser".

Well, Domingo has sung very good a few operas like Otello, Samson and Dalila and a few more. I have to say that whe he is in a good voice a night, he is actually fantastic. Overall, there is a lot of music to learm from him. He is also a fine actor, however, the BBC overrated him big time when considered him the best tenor in History, I would not personally go that far.

Pezzo meraviglioso, eseguito da un grande artista del canto tenorile. Concordo con te che si tratta di una delle più belle canzoni napoletane di tutti i tempi, ma più che con "Era de maggio", la mia opinione è che se la batta alla pari con le tre grandi: "Vurria", "Torna a Surriento", e "O' sole mio". Grazie per averlo messo in rete.
