It was so deadly that the Church forbade its use against Christians, since it was such an affront to chivalry -- cutting down a knight in full armour with a casual gesture! The absolute cheek! (The ban was mostly ignored, though: the advantage was simply too great to pass up.)

That's not entirely true. It's a common misconception.

"Hashashin" was essentially the misheard version of the name "Ashasyun", though the term "assassin" as we know it today is, again, the result of poor hearing or poor pronunciation of one or both names.

So. Hospitaler hears some guy mention an Ashasyun, later ends up telling his pal about "ashashin", and pretty soon the hot topic of Friday, May 12, 1187 is "assassin".

Simple bastardization of terms. Ya get what ya pay for, y'know?

this is the opening video, and killing the guards dont count as part of one of the assassinations unless they are a target, or you do it without them knowing. i guess the jump stab is a fairly good assassination
