This is probably the final sketch in which Jim Henson performs Ernie before he died on May 16, 1990 at 1:21AM and Steve Whitmire took over as Ernie from 1993 to this day and John Tartaglia also occasionally performs Ernie on the second season of "Play with Me Sesame".

Are you sure this is from 1990? It looks too new. Like, from maybe 1995.

True. It does look fairly new, particularly the fact that we don't see trees outside Bert and Ernie's apartment often.

But it's Jim Henson who performs Ernie in this sketch, and Jim died in 1990. After which, Steve Whitmire took over Ernie in '93. And since it looks like it's from the later years of the Jim and Frank E&B sketches, it must be from Season 21 (1989-1990)

So, to make a long story short, its from 1990.

I most certainly thought so. And therefore, that's what Ernie should've told Bert that the Opposite of "Play" is "Work" so that he wouldn't have to end the game so fast after Bert ended up playing with him.

It mightve been the last Ernie and Bert sketch with Jim & Frank, but I don't know for sure if that's true. I believe this sketch is from Season 21, so its definitely one of the last ones.

Well it definitely came before season 21 because Jim Henson was already dead by then.

Too true. Bert should know since he and Ernie themselves are as opposite as no and yes; And to me, thats the genius of Bert and Ernie. You need to have a great contrast between them to make them great characters.

Even Jim Henson and Frank Oz were as opposite as Ernie and Bert. Jim was such a gentle tease to the straight forward Frank. Sounds familiar. Does it not?
