21 passenger cars isn't even a workout for the 614. During the ACE coal tests in the mid 1980's, the 614 pulled 100 car coal trains back to the mine, and loaded 5000 ton coal trains at over 50 mph unassisted in the mountains of WVa. The 614 has one of the largest, most powerful boilers ever put on a 4-8-4 type of steam locomotive.
@kenjr29mfl - Hey Ken, I was on board too! It was February 1981. I was one of the car hosts from the NRHS. I was assigned to Car #5. Amazing how time has flown by.
