Creed needs to go into a more metal direction, and needs to stay away from writing ballads because Nickelback has done it to death for the past couple of years.
first two albums aver pretty good and this song is quite powerful but ALTER BRIDGE and MILES KENNEDY are way better. miles voice has no comparison, tremonti's "freedom" to play was acquired with AB, songs are deeper and stronger, etc...

I could watch this 50 times in a row... and still get chills everytime! I seen them when "My own worst prison" was their ONLY hit on the radio! I stood in line for a general admission show here in STL, ended up front and center, they had Finger Eleven and Fuel on that tour! It was in '99 cuz I remember Scott commenting on the Mark Macgwire home run season he just had! Stapp actually reached down and wore my hat for a couple songs! Then signed it! THAT KICKED ASS! WELCOME BACK BOYS LOVE THE NEW!!

Creed are not continuing as a "working" band. Tour and New CD were purely for financial reasons. AlterBridge are reuniting for 2010. I am pals with Creed's Manager's Brother.

Just be aware that Rain in particular was written specifically with the mindset that it would be a very mainstream song which would appeal to the masses more than the rest of the album (at least turned out to be written for). They needed at least one on the album for that purpose. Creed is a band geared more towards the majority, Alter Bridge is geared more to those that like a heavier sound most of the time while still remaining alternative enough to survive. They know what they're doing.
Mark tremonti could shred all along. he should do it more often. we need to take things back to the Glam 80's days when you had to earn respect to be a guitarist.. now a days you got these bubble gum rock bands doin 1-2-3 powerchords but has no chops at all when it comes to their instument. thats what makes guitar exciting when theirs progression in the music
No, we should not go back to those days and I doubt Mark ever will, as he knows when to stop playing solos and how much to limit them to keep his bands mainstream enough to survive. If he played solos as often as you might desire, his bands would be reduced to the underground. He has a hard enough time surviving as it is, which is one reason Creed has been reborn.
You sound like a band manager instead of a music connoisseur. You shouldn't stifle a band's sound for ratings. If you prefer it one way or another, say so, but don't wish for a guitar god to supress his skill to stay out of the underground. For example, I think Stapp sucks balls and I say so. Don't be a fag.
The problem with you metal heads is that you think speed and show boating equals skill and quality, which it does not. This is exactly why your bands stay underground so often and your guitarists are rarely ever widely known or respected. Sure there are plenty of guitarists out there with speed, ability and whatnot that you're concerned about, but no one likes a show boater and if you don't like that, then there's no point in anyone you enjoy ever getting a record deal.
look, I studied classical guitar in a university setting, I know the difference. Mark is one of the greatest guitarists in the genre and I would prefer Stapp's ego trip not to get in the way of marks creativity. FYI some of the greatest musicians are not widely known, or were relatively unknown for a large part of thier career.
FYI, what I'm telling is that if you want a record deal, you better appeal to enough of the majority to survive, otherwise, don't ever expect a record deal or a music career that will last more than 10 years unless you're one of the few very lucky ones. To survive, you write music that is mainstream, if you don't like it, then well your desire for a record deal is very mute. As with any job in entertainment you had better please your audience or you're out.

They did 2 takes in mansfield MA at the comcast center. It was an awesome show, but slick scott stapp dropped his mic on the second take. the first take he had his shirt on and the second he took it off. Just so you know.

TRUE. They are greatest rock songwriting partnership of the last 15 years. Led Zep was the 70s. Creed (and AB too) is today.
My only complaint is that AB hasn't gotten to the point where they can play arena tours in the U.S.
I don't know if they ever will. They're not getting enough publicity or radio airplay.
I want to hear Ties That Bind and Metalingus soar through an arena with 20,000 people.

If you prefer it one way or another, say so, but don't wish for a guitar god to supress his skill to stay out of the underground. For example, I think Stapp sucks balls and I say so. Don't be a fag.

The problem with you metal heads is that you think speed and show boating equals skill and quality, which it does not. This is exactly why your bands stay underground so often and your guitarists are rarely ever widely known or respected. Sure there are plenty of guitarists out there with speed, ability and whatnot that you're concerned about, but no one likes a show boater and if you don't like that, then there's no point in anyone you enjoy ever getting a record deal.

look, I studied classical guitar in a university setting, I know the difference. Mark is one of the greatest guitarists in the genre and I would prefer Stapp's ego trip not to get in the way of marks creativity. FYI some of the greatest musicians are not widely known, or were relatively unknown for a large part of thier career.

FYI, what I'm telling is that if you want a record deal, you better appeal to enough of the majority to survive, otherwise, don't ever expect a record deal or a music career that will last more than 10 years unless you're one of the few very lucky ones. To survive, you write music that is mainstream, if you don't like it, then well your desire for a record deal is very mute. As with any job in entertainment you had better please your audience or you're out.

Thanks for proving my point, I'm shure MTV appreciates your business. Look I agree, but it's all what you want out of your career. If you just want to make a sucesfull business venture, you've stated the best path. It's a fact, however, that the best music was born outside of the industry. The record business has spread music as never before, but it has also defined it as a certain thing. If everyone were to sell out, nothing new would be produced. I prefer underground.

No. You're problem is that you believe writing music as you wish to write it is "selling out" just because it doesn't align to your idea of how music should be written. Music is about being creative musically the way that YOU wish, not anyone else. If that means you want to appeal to the masses and enjoy that, then that is the correct way. Not your way.

This whole debate started because you insisted that Tremonti needed to play music a certain way because that is what's expected of a band, and now you state that you should play whatever you want and be creative? I'll say it again, I agree with you that if a band wants money and success, it's fine to go with whatever you think will sell; but if you want to write something different, that's cool too. Some of us prefer that.

This whole band broke up because Stapp was obsessed with himself (with no justification at all), and I hate to see them get back together just to end up there again. Thats all I was trying to say in the first place, I'm not trying to make a personal attack.

all underground is are bands or groups have their own label to do what they want and say what they want unlike these other companys like road runner they only wantt you to play what they want to hear which in agreement underground is better but music is music to me recods companys have nothing to with us loving music the way we do

They did 2 takes in mansfield MA at the comcast center. It was an awesome show, but slick scott stapp dropped his mic on the second take. the first take he had his shirt on and the second he took it off. Just so you know.
